Many people like animals and keep one or more as pets—dogs, cats or some kinds of birds. If you keep a dog or a cat as a pet, you must know how to look after it. Some people think mermaid tale comes from a real animal called dugong. The dugong used to live in the waters of southeastern China. But for the past 14 years, no one saw it. If this goes on, the animal may go extinct in China.
