教學內容
教學重點:學生能梳理整合并鞏固有關建議的表達,分析判斷建議里的內容構成,能在提建議時描述細節。 教學難點:學生能綜合運用本模塊所學的語言知識,運用提建議的多樣表達,針對語言學習問題,提出相應且具體的建議,同時內化情感并給予安慰鼓勵。
教學過程
Stage 1: Warming up Activity 1:Present the requirement T will show Ss that the school radio station has started a new programme to help solve students’ problems of learning English. T will ask students if they want to join in the program and show them the requirement : You should know how to give advice on learning English. T will also point out this is what Ss are going to learn in this lesson. Activity 2: Watch and say the problem Show Ss a video and ask Ss to say what problems they heard in the video. T: Before we give advice, we should know what the problems are. The school radio station has collected some problems from students. Let’s watch the video and get to know the problems. (設計意圖:創設真實情境和任務,激起學生學習興趣) Stage 2: Review Activity 1: Review the advice from Unit 1& Unit 2 T will Guide Ss to review the advice they have learned in Unit 1& Unit 2. T: What advice can we give to them In our previous lessons, we have learned lots of advice on learning English from Ms James, her students and the language Doctor Diana. Do you remember their advice Which can help with these problems After Ss list the advice to different problems, T will help Ss summarize the tip the have got from this activity: Your advice should be relevant to the problem Activity 2: Review the expressions of advice T will ask Ss to list as many expressions of advice as they can and summarize how to use them. Then Ss will get tip 2 for the task: Use various expressions to give advice. (設計意圖:鞏固本模塊所學語言,為后續任務提供語言基礎) Stage 3: Practice Activity 1: Listen & Check T will Lead Ss to the listening activity by show the situation that Charlie and Mary are also talking about how to learn English better. Activity 2: Listen &Choose Ss will listen to the conversation between Charlie and Mary again and focus on some detail information: what problem Charlie got, what advice they figure out and Mary’s opinion towards the advice. Activity 3: Read & Think T will guide Ss to think about how to give advice specifically by leading them to analyze Charlie and Mary’s advice. T: What do they mention in the advice?Is the advice specific Ss will find out that the advice includes the elements like how to do, when to meet and what to do. Thus, T can conclude another tip for the Ss: Make the advice specific with details (how, when, what, why...). Activity 4: Practise giving specific advice T asks students to think whether Jack’s habits are good or not by showing Jack’s pictures. Students think and guess Jack’s problem in learning English caused by his bad habit, then discuss to give specific advice to Jack. After students share their advice, T will show them an example and analyze the details in the example. Activity 5: Read & Add Students read the letter Helen wrote to Diana and find out Helen’s problem in learning English. Then students help Diana complete the letter to Helen with the word and expressions in the box. After checking the answers, some follow-up questions will be asked: 1. What is Diana’s advice ... 2. How to practise speaking more What ways does Diana give ... 3. If Helen start a club with her friend, what activities can they do in the club (The questions are asked to help students know Diana also give specific advice with details.) 4. Helen is very worried. What else can we add to this letter to make Helen feel better Students are guided to think about Helen’s feelings and know they should give Helen some comfort and encouragement. Students will think about what to say to comfort and encourage Helen. After that, students will understand tip 4: Make the advice warm with comfort and encouragement.
