I. Learning objectives
By the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
listen for the announcement to know the steps of making a travel plan;
suggest a travel plan for foreign guests;
Express themselves freely through listening and reading.

1. Use listening strategies to get the right information.
2. Get some useful information to prepare for writing by listening and viewing a travel plan.

IV. Teaching procedures
Step 1 Lead-in
T creates a situation:
Today our headmaster told me that he would go to the UK to attend a conference next month, during which he would have several days to travel around. What will he prepare for his travel
T asks “What do you think is the most important thing ”
Ss answer: Making a travel plan.
【設(shè)計意圖：通過創(chuàng)設(shè)生活情境導(dǎo)入，頭腦風(fēng)暴，快速激活學(xué)生對旅游這一主題的認(rèn)知，為下一個聽力環(huán)節(jié)做好準(zhǔn)備，有的放矢。】
Step 2 Listen and answer
T asks Ss to listen to the recording for the first time and finish A1 on page 8.
Suggested answers:
Next month.
They will learn more about Chinese methods of education.
Three days.
At the end of the class.
T asks Ss to predict the answers of A2 and finish it by listening to the recording again.
Suggested answers:
15 (2) attend a conference (3) give some lectures (4) our city museum
a local restaurant (6) on foot
T checks the answers and listens to the difficult points with the students again.
T asks Ss to answer some questions according to the announcement.

【設(shè)計意圖：聽前讀題與預(yù)測讓聽音更有針對性，聽前復(fù)習(xí)并指導(dǎo)關(guān)注特殊疑問詞，學(xué)生在聽音時抓住表示時間、事件等信號詞，根據(jù)表示時間的信號詞把握文章脈絡(luò)。訓(xùn)練學(xué)生抓取特定信息的能力。聽后兩兩討論答案，學(xué)會向同伴學(xué)習(xí)，交流聽力內(nèi)容、修正答案，最后老師給出參考答案。】
Step 3 Read and speak
T asks the Ss to scan the travel plan about Shanghai on page 9 suggested by Ms Zhao and answer the following questions.
● What are the tourist attractions and activities suggested
● If the guests are interested in Buddhism, which attraction will you recommend
● Can you suggest some typical foods of Shanghai
T gets Ss to discuss a travel plan for the foreign teachers in groups, they are asked to refer to the title and captions given on page 9.
T asks Ss to make a dialogue according to the discussion and use the following ideas to help them.
● Basic information about your hometown
● Tourist attractions
● Food
● Cultural products
【設(shè)計意圖：該環(huán)節(jié)先通過兩個問題引導(dǎo)學(xué)生初看圖片和文字說明，采用小組活動的形式，為外國友人做一個旅游計劃，小組活動培養(yǎng)學(xué)生的學(xué)習(xí)品質(zhì)，就所給話題相互討論，關(guān)注學(xué)生的語言能力。在這兩個問題之后提出了一個課外問題，目的在于考查學(xué)生課外文化知識。最后讓學(xué)生根據(jù)信息提示編造一段對話，再一次訓(xùn)練和鞏固學(xué)生對今天這堂課主題的掌握---如何為外國友人制作一個旅游計劃。】
Step 4 Share
T has some pairs to share the travel plan with the whole class.
e.g:
S1: Let’s discuss our two-day travel plan for the guests from America visiting our city next month.
S2: OK. We should introduce our city by sharing some basic information with them. For example, Xi’an is the oldest of the four great ancient capitals. That should interest them.
S1: I agree. So on the first day we should start with a visit to the main attraction--the Terracotta Army. That would be a great way to connect them with our city’s history.
S2: After the tomb visit, let’s have lunch at a nearby restaurant that serves local food like flatbread in mutton soup.
S1: Great plan. I propose we go to the Textile Town after lunch. They’ll enjoy watching the local artists at work and they can buy souvenirs if they want to. And on the second day, we can...
S2: Sorry, shall we talk a bit more about the evening plan before we move on
S1: Sure.
S2: In the evening, we could walk along the popular food and shopping street in the city, where our guests can try the wonderful foods available there.
S1: Yes! Like biangbiang nooodles, a famous Xi’an dish.
S2: True! Let’s discuss the second day’s plan.
S1: What about a visit to the ancient city wall and the famous Bell Tower and Drum Tower
S2: Great idea! After another delicious lunch, we should also take a tour of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, and then have another great dinner of local food.
S1: Perfect, I think that is great way to end their two-day visit.
S2: Sorry, may I add something For dinner we should find a place where they can eat while watching Qinqiang Opera.
S1: I like your idea very much. I know our guests will never forget their short visit to the wonderful city of Xi’an.
