How does the news report develop (Thesis statement→Deduction)T asks Ss to read the news report again and answer more detailed questions: In the first paragraph, which sentence can best summarize the main idea (Human activities have brought many animals close to extinction.) How many aspects of impacts about human activities are mentioned to support the main idea What are they (Two. Direct impact and indirect impact.) What are the three main reasons why people hunt animals (People hunt animals for food, for fashion and for fun.) How do human activities indirectly influence animals (We destroy their habitats when we build farms or factories. Air, water, noise and light pollution can have an impact on animals.)T asks Ss to retell the key points of the news report with the help of the chart below.↓【設計意圖:通過skimming和scanning,讓學生在掌握文章結構、理清文章脈絡的同時,對文章細節性內容加以了解,并通過思維導圖的繪制,強化對課文重點內容的把握,并為聽力做好準備。】Step 3 Reflecting and thinkingT leads Ss to reflect on humans’ behaviour and answer some questions.T: After reading the news report, we have a further understanding of the direct and indirect impacts that human activities have brought to many animals. As we all know, we human beings and animals, as part of nature, should have lived in harmony with each other. However, the balance was broken. I think it’s time to reflect on what we have done and put forward some practical solutions. Please think about the following questions: What do you think of humans’ behaviour Why What’s the significance of protecting animals In terms of the impacts caused by human activities mentioned in the news report, what should we do accordingly Step 4 WatchingT leads Ss to watch the video and complete tasks in part B.Before watchingT: Before we watch the video, please first read the questions in part B1 on page 9, and make some reasonable predictions about the answers.
