III. Teaching procedures
Step 1 Lead-in
Show some newsletters to the students and explain what the newsletter is.
T: I’d like to show you some pictures. They are newsletters. Newsletters mean one or several sheets of printed news sent regularly to a particular group of people.

1. Preparation
T: How can we make a newsletter I think we can follow three steps. The first step, preparation. Usually a newsletter includes a topic, some articles and some pictures. Also we need some other tools, such as paper, glue, scissors, crayons and so on to help us.

T: Our topic is a school newsletter. To get more information, we can go to the school library or search on our school website.

T: In our newsletter, we can introduce some persons in our school, such as teachers, students and workers. Also, we can talk about some important activities, such as a volleyball match and a visit to a museum.

4. Performing
T: The second step, performing. We should get more information about events and persons and write something about them.

6. Have a short interview with a great student
T: We can have a short interview with him to get more information. We can ask him some questions like these.

T: How can we write the article We can follow the article structure.
The first part, introduction.
We can give the theme. Let’s begin the article in this way. We’d like to introduce something about Liu Guanchu. He is ….
The second part, main body.
We can write his experience. He began to learn chess … . He has won …. He hopes to ….
The last part, conclusion.
Please show our feelings like these. We admire him very him. We should learn from him.
