Unit 5 Working the Land Reading and Thinking: A Pioneer for All People
Teaching Design
(一)Teaching contents
本節課為文章閱讀課,其話題為 working the land-A pioneer for all people.通過本節課的閱讀希望學生能夠對袁隆平的成就 與此同時提高其閱讀能力和語言運用能力。通過系列問題的研究,鍛煉學生的思維能力。
(二)Teaching methods and learning methods
本節課主要運用了任務型教學法,啟發式教學和情景教學法,為學生創設學習情境,設置不同的學習任務,引導學生發現問題和解決問題。通過閱讀,討論,寫作等學習活動,鼓勵學生在教師指導下進行自主學習,合作學習,互動學習和探究學習。
(三)Students analysis
本節課針對的是高二學生,他們經過了高一一學年的英語學習有了一定的知識基礎,同時也理解了高中英語學習側重于思維能力的培養,對他們感興趣的話題也能夠用英語進行表達,希望通過閱讀學習,學生能對文章有很好的理解,并提高閱讀能力和語用能力。

2.Develop students’ reading and speaking skills, sense of group cooperation and critical thinking abilities
3. Learn from Dr. Yuan ’ s spirits of devotion and hard work to be useful persons to our country.
【設計意圖】:教學目標的出示使學生明確本節課的任務,做到學有所依,評價有據。
(五)Key points and difficult points
1. Grasp the main idea of each paragraph, understand Yuan Longping’s contributions to the world and learn good qualities from Yuan Longping.
2. Improve reading and speaking skills.
3. Participate in all kinds of activities.
(六)Teaching procedures
整堂課的教學分為六個部分,分別為導入,快讀,細讀,鞏固,讀后討論與展示及作業。通過對系列問題的研究,提高學生的閱讀能力,鍛煉學生的思維能力,通過活動的討論與展示,調動學生參與課堂的積極性,充分發揮教師主導學生主體的作用。
Step, 1 Lead-in
In this part a series of pictures concerning about world hunger is presented. Let students realize that there are still a large number of people who are suffering hunger. But today we Chinese can feed ourselves. Then ask them the question: Who plays an important role in eliminating hunger
【設計意圖】:通過一系列的圖面展示開始本節課,讓學生看到世界各地仍存在饑餓問題,但是在中國我們已經達到溫飽,自然引出問題誰對于消除饑餓做出了巨大貢獻?一方面可以吸引學生的興趣,另一方面也順利的引出了本節課的話題。
Step 2. Fast reading
Students read the passage quickly then find the main idea of each paragraph.
Paragraph 1 A. Yuan conducted research and developed hybrid rice.
Paragraph 2 B. Yuan is old but still working hard to fulfill his dreams.
Paragraph 3 C. Yuan considers himself a farmer
Paragraph 4 D. Yuan decided to study agriculture.
Paragraph 5 E. Yuan's innovation has helped to feed more people.
Paragraph 6 F. Yuan cares little for fame or wealth

Step 3. Detailed-reading and comprehending
In this part, students read the whole passage paragraph by paragraph to get detailed information.
