To reach the goal of change, a person must show some discipline and repeatedly take many small steps. Student 2 feels depressed about being a little overweight. I feel more dynamic and stronger than ever, in both body and mind. Best of all, in my opinion, is how I feel about myself. As I took part in the summer camp about personal life choices, I started to analyse my choices, especially what I did to relax and how it was affecting my whole life. However, I realized that to succeed in quitting, I had to replace it with something else. So I thought about what to try. Rock climbing, bowling, watching comedies, and playing basketball were the things I thought of doing instead. 1. To prevent harmful habits like these from dominating a teenager’s life is essential. Life is composed of many elements, such as family, friends, study, work, entertainment, and so on. If one elements dominates your life and the others are ignored, you will lose balance and not feel good. It is necessary to be in control of what you eat. I really need to decide on a way to exercise more. 1. Page 14 Para 1 Line 5 2. Page 16 Exercise 3 3. Page 16 Exercise 3 4.Page 17 Exercise 3 5.Page 17 Exercise 3
The reward makes us much more likely to continue the cycle, and the bad habit of relying on unhealthy snacks is formed. Student 1 has trouble sleeping because of using the phone before going to sleep. I got so absorbed that I played the games day and night. Playing was fun, but I felt even more worn out afterwards! In many ways, our lifestyle is the sum of choices we have made. To facilitate a positive change in our bad habits, we must first examine our bad habit cycles and then try to adapt them. Many of us try to change bad habits quickly, and if we are not successful straight away, we often become pessimistic and give up. Slowly facilitate changes in your lifestyle by using a step-by-step process. You don’t have to change every thing at once. Make small changes each day and your lifestyle will become healthier. To change bad habits is never easy. To make choices about myself is within my own power. It was a big struggle not to join my friends in playing online games as I’m mad for them. It has enhanced the quality of my life, improving my health and increasing my happiness. 1. Page 14 Para 2 Line 2 2. Page 15 Para 2 Line 1 3.
It was a chilly Friday night, and I had just returned from climbing one of the red rocks of Sedona. My father telephoned me as I walked through the arches to my dorm room and told me that my mother had been in a terrible car crash and had been taken to the intensive care unit (重癥監(jiān)護(hù)病房) of a nearby hospital.
When I got to the hospital, my father led me down a wide hallway with machines all around. A strong smell of medicine brought a sick feeling to my already turning stomach. As I turned into my mother's ward, the cadaverous (形容枯槁的) condition of her body shocked me. Her face had swollen, her eyes had huge dark bruise, and she had tubes down her throat and in her arms. Gently holding her cold swollen hands, I said “hi”in a calm voice, controlling my urge to cry out.
She kept looking at me as she pounded her hand against the bed, looking painful. I turned my face away from her, trying to hide the tears that were rolling down my face. That was when it struck me that I really might lose my mother.
From that night on, my life completely changed. Up to that point, I'd had the luxury of just being a kid, having to deal with only the exaggerated melodramas of teenage life. As my mother struggled first to stay alive and then to relearn to walk, my sense of priorities changed sharply. My mother needed me. The trials and trouble of my daily life at school, which had seemed so important before, now appeared insignificant. My mother and I had faced death together, and life took on a new meaning for both of us.
After a week of treatment in intensive care, my mother's condition improved enough to be moved to a regular hospital ward. She was finally out of danger but, because her legs had been crushed, there was doubt whether she would be able to walk again. I was just grateful that she was alive. Two months later, a sort of hospital suite was set up in our family room, and she was allowed to come home.
Paragraph 1: My mother's return home was a blessing for us all, but it meant some unaccustomed responsibilities for me. __________________________________________________________________________________________________
Paragraph 2: My mother's reliance on me changed our relationship too. ________________________________________

Metaphor(暗喻)
★However, there is no “magic pill” or “delete” button that will help you.
3. 用法
★L(fēng)ife is a ship on the ocean meeting both sunny days and stormy days.
★L(fēng)aughter is the sun that drives winter from the human face.
★She is going through a roller coaster of emotions.
★At once, the Eastern and Western Chang’an Roads became roaring oceans.
He has a heart of stone. He has a heart like stone.
4. 實(shí)踐
(1) a bed of roses
(2) clean hands
(3) curtain-lecture
(4) mushroom fame/ millionaire
(5) He is a regular oyster.

My mother's return home was a blessing for us all, but it meant some unaccustomed responsibilities for me. I would feed her, bathe her and help her to the bathroom. I struck me that I was pretty much playing the role of mother to my own mother. The difficult part for me was trying to be always upbeat, and to keep my mother's spirits up when she became frustrated with the pain and her inability to do simple things by herself. Looking after my mother wasn't much fun, but it felt good to be there when my mother really needed me.(84 words)
My mother's reliance on me changed our relationship. In the past, we had more than our share of the strains of mother-daughter relationships. The accident threw us into a relationship of interdependence. To get my mother back, I had to help regain her strength and ability to resume an independent life. She had to accept my help as well as the fact that I was no longer a child. Since then,we have become the closest friends, genuinely listening to one another and truly enjoying each other's company.(81 words)

(1) a bed of roses
(2) clean hands
(3) curtain-lecture
(4) mushroom fame/ millionaire
(5) He is a regular oyster.
