Back then, I saw a woman helping him get out of her car onto the wheelchair. I thought they were coming to eat here. But she never came back. According to Mr. Perkins, his wife had something to do and was coming back soon,” she said.
These words shocked Sam completely. “How could anyone do like that And why has no one helped that man ” he asked.
“We tried to help him. All the restaurants on this block bought him food, and we even called nursing homes. But if we did that, he would be angry. It was bad for his health. So now the caretaker at the public nursing home brings him here in the morning and takes him back at night,” the waitress said.
