Unit 1 Animal Friends (Period 2) - Pronunciation
Part one Learning aims:
1. Linguistic competence:
1) Ss can correctly pronounce and practice the target vocabulary from Unit 1.
2) Ss can master the basic rules of English pronunciation, such as vowel and consonant sounds, word stress, and intonation.
2. Cultural consciousness: Develop students' interest in learning English and raise their awareness of the importance of correct pronunciation.
3. Trait of thinking: Encourage students to pay attention to the details of pronunciation and develop their listening skills.
4. Learning capacity: Help students improve their pronunciation through various activities and practice.
Part two Important & difficult points:
1. Master the correct pronunciation of the target vocabulary.
2. Practice the basic rules of English pronunciation.
Part three Teaching process:
Step 1. Warming-up and lead-in1. Greet the students and ask them how they feel today.
2. Introduce the topic of the lesson: \Today we are going to learn about pronunciation in English.\Step 2. Revision of the previous lesson1. Ask students to review the vocabulary from the previous lesson (head, ear, throat, neck, back, arm, leg, tooth-teeth, foot-feet, matter, have a cold, stomachache, headache, toothache).
2. Let students work in pairs to ask and answer questions using the target vocabulary.
Step 3. Presentation of pronunciation rules1. Introduce the concept of phonetics and explain the importance of correct pronunciation.
2. Present the basic rules of English pronunciation, such as vowel and consonant sounds, word stress, and intonation.
3. Use examples from the target vocabulary to demonstrate the correct pronunciation.
Step 4. Pronunciation practice1. Divide the class into small groups and assign each group a set of words from the target vocabulary.
2. Instruct the groups to practice pronouncing the words correctly and pay attention to word stress and intonation.
3. After practicing, each group will present their pronunciation to the class.
Step 5. Listening and repeating1. Play a recording of the target vocabulary pronounced by a native speaker.
2. Ask students to listen carefully and repeat after the recording.
3. Encourage students to compare their pronunciation with the native speaker's and make adjustments as needed.
Step 6. Pronunciation games1. Play a game called \Pronunciation Relay.\ Divide the class into two teams and have each team line up.
2. The first student in each team will say a word from the target vocabulary correctly, then the next student will repeat the word and add another word.
3. Continue until all students have participated, and the team that completes the relay correctly wins.
Step 7. Role-play and speaking practice1. Ask students to work in pairs and role-play a conversation using the target vocabulary and correct pronunciation.
2. Encourage students to use the sentence patterns from the previous lesson (e.g., \What's the matter \ \I have a headache.\ while practicing their pronunciation.
Step 8. Summary and homework1. Summarize the main points of the lesson, including the basic rules of English pronunciation and the importance of practicing regularly.
2. Assign homework: ask students to record themselves speaking the target vocabulary and listen to their pronunciation, making improvements as needed.
