教材分析 What: It is a reading material describing the process of an athlete striving for greatness, during which she has experienced many difficulties as well as some confusion. After learning this lesson, students are supposed to understand the great sacrifice an athlete will make and the reasons why she could become an Olympic champion. How: when learning this lesson, students need to analyze the structure of the passage. Besides, they will practice reading strategies such as reading for detailed information,deep understanding the passage and figuring out the difficulties as well as the reasons. Why: Through learning, students could foster the awareness that success is not achieved easily but by great tolerance,overdo and push. Meanwhile, they can get to know the great qualities of an great athlete. 學情分析 This class is taught to senior high school students in Hefei No. 4 High School. Some of the students may lack a solid base in English learning. Some students are familiar with the topics of success, especially after learning lesson 1 and lesson2. Everyone knows that success is not easy, so what we should do is to consider what we can do to achieve success and what qualities we should foster during our learning process. 教學目標 By the end of this class, students will be able to Use related expressions to retell the passage based on the description applied by text author.(Language ability) Analyze the difficulties the author has experienced and figure out the reasons why the author could get to the top.(Learning ability) Explore the qualities of the author based on the relevant sentences and discuss what we can do to cultivate these qualities.(Thinking quality) Have a better or deeper understanding of “success”and realize what is important in life.
