an approach to ...（做某事的）方法／途徑；通往……的道路

◆ approach 表示"·……的方法／途徑"時，其后常接介詞 to ;
當表示"某人或某物走近"時，其后常接介詞 of 。

argue for / against sth 支持／反對某事

◆表示"說服某人做某事"的表達還有 persuade sb to do sth 、 persuade sb into doing sth , convince sb todo sth 、 talk sb into doing sth 等。
end up的三種用法如下1 2 3 4：
①. end up doing sth. 最后做某事，停止做某事。
②. end up with sth. 以某事結束。
③. end up in 以…結束。
④end up as 作為...結束
promote vt ．促進；提升；推銷( promotion n ．提升；晉級；促銷活動 promoter n ． 辦人；倡導者）
promote sb ( from sth ) to sth 把某人（從某職位）提升到某職位
be promoted to... 被提升為
get / win / gain promotion 獲得晉級／提升
work out弄懂某事物;計算出＝figure out

attempt vt. 試圖,嘗試n. 進攻,嘗試，
變形：過去式: attempted； 現在分詞：attempting； 過去分詞：attempted；
attempt to do 嘗試做某事=attempt at doing
make an attempt to do嘗試做某事=make an attempt at doing
at the heart of在…的中心

" base ... on / upon ..."結構中， base 是及物動, base 后要跟賓語，否則要用被動形式" be based on / upon ".

exist in 在于…… exist on = live on 靠……生存

come into existence 出現；產生＝come into being
◆ exist 沒有被動語態，且通常不用于進行時
There exist ( s )..．表示"存在……有……", there 不可換成 it

recommend sth . to sb = recommend sb . sth 向某人介紹某物，向某人推薦某物

recommend that 建議……（從句中用" should ＋動詞原形", should 可省略）
It is / was recommended that ..．有人建議……（從句中用虛擬語氣）

“安排某人做某事”不能說arrange sb to do sth,應該說arrange for sb to do sth
arrange后跟that從句時,從句中謂語動詞用“(should+)動詞原形”

exciting adj. 令人興奮的，令人激動的 excited adj. 激動的，興奮地
