Take a look at the new five-part BBC nature documentary (紀(jì)錄片) Dynasties!
The documentary is told by the world’s most famous wildlife storyteller, Sir David Attenborough. It follows the true stories of five of the world’s most amazing yet endangered species: the chimpanzee, the emperor penguin, the lion, the tiger and the painted wolf. They do whatever it takes to survive and protect their next generations.
The documentary focuses in never-seen-before detail on one of the five species each episode (集). These animals fight for their own survival and for the future of their dynasties. BBC Studios has explored their real lives and filmed them over four years. The team travelled from the plains of Africa to the jungles of India, from the edge of the Sahara to the frozen wastes of Antarctica (南極洲).
Hard work paid off in the end. The team has managed to film some of the most uncommon moments. You can see penguins huddling (蜷縮) over their eggs, young tigers at play and parents risking their lives to protect their babies. In Dynasties, however, animals face challenges not only from within their species and their enemies, but from the influence humans have had on their habitats.
Terribly, 95 percent of tigers have disappeared in the last century. Dynasties does educate us about wildlife extinction and climate change. Yet its primary goal, Attenborough says, is not to directly educate, but to make a documentary that is attractive and truthful. Only in this way can viewers appreciate nature, care about it and become active in saving the planet.
26. What is the documentary Dynasties about
A. Habits of different animals. B. A habitat for wild animals.
C. Five endangered species. D. A story of extinct species.
27. What is Sir David Attenborough known as
A. A professional BBC nature director. B. A world-famous wildlife storyteller.
C. A leading environmental scientist. D. A well-known animal trainer.
28. What can we learn about BBC Studios from paragraph 3
A. Its changes. B. Its members. C. Its effort. D. Its future.
29. Which species has probably faced the most serious challenge
A. The emperor penguin. B. The chimpanzee.
C. The lion. D. The tiger.
30. What does Attenborough expect viewers to do
A. Explore nature. B. Protect the earth.
C. Make a documentary. D. Educate others directly.

Since farmers began digging up ancient bone pieces in the fields around the Yellow River in eastern China over 100 years ago, researchers have been studying the script (文字符號) found on them. But up until now script study has been a task that requires a lot of time and effort.
“A piece of oracle bone (甲骨) may have been recorded several times. Because these recordings are different in how clear and complete they are, a lot of work is needed to relate, compare and explain them,” said Yubin Jiang, a researcher from Fudan University. “In the past, this responsibility fell only on the shoulders of researchers with rich experience and excellent memory, but their research only led to accidental findings.”
Now researchers in Beijing are using AI to speed up the basic but necessary work of comparing each script sample with thousands of others in databases (數(shù)據(jù)庫). This work helps researchers understand them better and sheds light on everything from the daily concerns of people in ancient times to how Chinese writing first developed.
The AI model, named Diviner, was developed by professor Bofeng Mo and senior researcher Zhirong Wu. In November 2022, within one week, the Diviner project compared 181, 134 script samples across 100 databases. It not only found tens of thousands of exact copies that people had already identified, but also discovered more than 300 new pairs. Now Diviner has managed to complete this work more quickly.
This is just the first step.
“The job now is to clean the data and recover the data to the original form by joining small pieces to the original big one,” said Wu. With this, they hope to move on to the final challenge — understanding the meaning of these characters, which could have important effects on different fields. “To archaeologists, they are the cultural remains of humans. To historians, they are the historical material of the Shang Dynasty. To language researchers, they are the earliest system of Chinese characters,” said Mo.
31. What do we know about the script study
A. It started just a few years ago.
B. It has been a long and tiring task.
C. It has been completed successfully.
D. It was mainly carried out by farmers.
32. What do Yubin Jiang’s words suggest
A. The study in the past was not scientific enough.
B. The skilled researchers made great achievements.
C. The researchers didn’t have to spend so much time.
D. The recordings of oracle bones made the study easy.
33. What does the underlined phrase “sheds light on” in paragraph 3 mean
A Makes clear. B. Takes over. C. Hides away. D. Shows off.
34. Why is the script study important according to the last paragraph
A. More new characters will be discovered.
B. Data processing in the future will be quicker.
C. The understanding of the script will be valuable.
D. Small pieces of cultural remains will be joined.
35. Which is the best title of the text
A. How Is AI Aiding Oracle Bone Script Study
B. The Hidden Stories Behind Oracle Bone Script
C. Oracle Bone Script: Uncovering the Unknown Field
D. Should Researchers Give Way to the AI Model Diviner

Learning a new language is an exciting but challenging journey. There are several difficulties that language learners often face.
Complex Grammar
Different languages have their own unique grammatical rules. ____36____ For example, in English, the order of words in a sentence is important for expressing the correct meaning. However, in Japanese or Russian, the word order can be more flexible (靈活的). This difference can make it difficult for learners to form correct sentences and express themselves accurately (準(zhǔn)確地).
Pronunciation Challenges
Each language has its own set of sounds. For example, the French “r” sound or the German “ü” sound can be extremely difficult for English speakers to pronounce correctly. What’s more, the stress of a language can also affect the meaning of a word or a sentence. ____37____
Limited Vocabulary
Building a large enough vocabulary is necessary for effective language learning. ____38____ Some languages have a great number of words. Besides, many words may have several meanings or small differences that are difficult to understand. For example, in Chinese, a single character can have different meanings depending on the context.
Cultural Differences
____39____ Idioms (習(xí)語), proverbs (諺語), and expressions in a language often show the culture and history of the people who speak it. For example, the English idiom “it’s raining cats and dogs” may not make sense to a learner who doesn’t know much about Western cultures.
Few Chances to Practice
Learners need regular chances to practise speaking, listening, reading, and writing. However, they may not be able to meet native speakers or stay in a language environment. ____40____ For example, if a person is learning a language that is not widely spoken in their country, it may be challenging to find practice partners or language learning resources.
A. Language is closely related to culture.
B. It can be difficult to find chances to practise speaking.
C. Mistakes in pronunciation can lead to misunderstandings.
D. Learning a new language can be a worthwhile experience.
E. However, learning new words can be a slow and hard process.
F. This can make it difficult for them to improve their language skills.
G. They can be extremely different from those of a learner’s native language.
