Tenzing Norgay is a guide(向?qū)?from Nepal(尼泊爾) and Edmund Hillary is a mountaineer(登山家)from New Zealand.They became the first men to reach the top of Qomolangma on May 29, 1953.

On May 25.1960,we Chinese climbers first showed our national flag to the world on the top of Qomolangma.The climbers were Qu Yinghua,GongBu, and Wang Fuzhou.They chose an even harder line to climb. They did so from the north side(北坡).

Background
新中國當(dāng)時剛成立不久，提出將珠峰一分為二，南面屬尼泊爾，北面屬中國。但尼泊爾聲稱珠峰是屬于尼泊爾的，與中國無關(guān)，理由很簡單，“貴國從未爬上過北坡”。而尼泊爾人Tenzing Norgay和新西蘭人Edmund Hilliary于1953年從南側(cè)率先登上了珠峰，成為了世界上第一支成功登頂?shù)年犖椋?dāng)時的中國無人登上珠峰。這也為尼泊爾同我國談判時增加了最大的籌碼。
在1956年，中國組建了第一支登山隊，終于在1960年5月25日凌晨4點20分，隊員王富洲、貢布、屈銀華將五星紅旗穩(wěn)穩(wěn)地插上珠穆朗瑪峰，完成了人類歷史上首次從北坡登頂珠峰的壯舉
登頂珠峰并不是心血來潮去爬個山頭那么簡單，當(dāng)時有著復(fù)雜的國際背景。“活著上去，活著下來”，它考驗的不光是國家的決心和登山運(yùn)動員的勇氣，還考驗著國家的科技水平、氣象水平、后勤保障水平等方方面面。
