Unit 1 The Secrets of Happiness
Good morning / afternoon,
distinguished judges and colleagues. Today, I am honored to present my teaching design for Unit 1 of the New Standard English (Grade 7, Book 2), titled "The Secrets of Happiness." My presentation will focus on how I integrate the English Learning Activity View, as outlined in the 2022 English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education, into this unit, emphasizing the holistic approach to unit teaching.
一、單元主題與目標 (Unit Theme and Objectives)
本單元的主題是“幸福的秘訣”，屬于“人與自我”和“人與社會”范疇，涉及身心健康、和諧家庭與社區生活、志愿服務與公共服務等內容。通過本單元的學習，學生將能夠：
1. 運用本單元的核心詞匯和表達方式談論幸福；
2. 運用一般過去時描述幸福的時刻；
3. 分享生活中幸福的意義，并設計一頁書頁介紹獲得幸福的方法。
The theme of this unit is "The Secrets of Happiness," which falls under the categories of "Self and Society." It covers topics such as mental and physical health, harmonious family and community life, and volunteer service. By the end of this unit, students will be able to:
1. Use the core vocabulary and expressions to discuss happiness;
2. Use the simple past tense to describe moments of happiness;
3. Share the meaning of happiness in their lives and design a book page introducing ways to achieve happiness.
二、英語學習活動觀的體現 (Integration of English Learning Activity View)
根據2022版義務教育英語課程標準，英語學習活動觀強調在活動中學習語言，通過感知、體驗、實踐、參與和合作等方式，實現語言知識的內化和語言能力的提升。在本單元的教學設計中，我通過以下三個層次的活動來體現這一理念：
According to the 2022 English Curriculum Standards, the English Learning Activity View emphasizes learning language through activities, internalizing language knowledge, and improving language skills through perception, experience, practice, participation, and cooperation. In this unit, I have designed activities at three levels to reflect this concept:
1. 學習理解類活動 (Learning and Understanding Activities):
在第一課時，學生通過觀察圖片、閱讀課文和回答問題，初步感知幸福的含義，理解愛是獲取幸福的關鍵。例如，學生通過閱讀課文《巧克力工廠》的書評，思考幸福的來源，并通過思維導圖梳理課文內容。
In the first lesson, students perceive the meaning of happiness through observing pictures, reading texts, and answering questions. They understand that love is the key to happiness. For example, students read a book review of "The Chocolate Factory," reflect on the sources of happiness, and use a mind map to organize the text's content.
2. 應用實踐類活動 (Application and Practice Activities):
在第二課時，學生通過語法學習和對話練習，運用一般過去時描述自己獲得幸福的經歷。例如，學生使用一般過去時談論自己通過愛獲得幸福的一次經歷，并通過小組討論分享自己的觀點。
In the second lesson, students apply the simple past tense to describe their own experiences of achieving happiness through grammar learning and dialogue practice. For example, students use the simple past tense to talk about a time when they felt happy through love and share their views in group discussions.
3. 遷移創新類活動 (Transfer and Innovation Activities):
在第六課時，學生通過設計一頁書頁，介紹獲得幸福的方法，并進行展示和反思。例如，學生分組合作，搜索獲得幸福的方法，并制作書頁，最后在全班展示和投票選出最佳設計。
In the sixth lesson, students design a book page introducing ways to achieve happiness, present their work, and reflect on their learning. For example, students work in groups to research methods of achieving happiness, create a book page, and present it to the class, followed by a vote for the best design.
三、單元整體教學設計 (Holistic Unit Teaching Design)
本單元共分為六課時，每課時圍繞不同的子話題展開，逐步引導學生從理解幸福的概念到實踐和創造。以下是各課時的簡要設計：
This unit is divided into six lessons, each focusing on a different subtopic, gradually guiding students from understanding the concept of happiness to practicing and creating. Below is a brief overview of each lesson:
1. 第一課時：Starting out & Understanding ideas (文本解讀)
學生通過閱讀和討論，初步感知幸福的含義，理解愛是獲取幸福的關鍵。
Students perceive the meaning of happiness through reading and discussion, understanding that love is the key to happiness.
2. 第二課時：Understanding ideas (語法學習)
學生學習一般過去時，并運用該時態描述自己獲得幸福的經歷。
Students learn the simple past tense and use it to describe their own experiences of achieving happiness.
3. 第三課時：Developing ideas (聽說)
學生通過聽力練習，了解不同心態對幸福感的影響，并討論如何建立積極心態。
Through listening exercises, students understand how different mindsets affect happiness and discuss how to build a positive mindset.
4. 第四課時：Developing ideas (閱讀)
學生通過閱讀故事，理解幫助他人可以提升幸福感，并運用核心詞匯談論故事內容。
Through reading a story, students understand that helping others can enhance happiness and use core vocabulary to discuss the story.
5. 第五課時：Developing ideas (寫作)
學生運用核心詞匯和語法，寫一個助人為樂的故事，并分享自己實現幸福的方法。
Students use core vocabulary and grammar to write a story about helping others and share their methods of achieving happiness.
6. 第六課時：Presenting ideas & Reflection
學生設計一頁書頁，介紹獲得幸福的方法，并進行展示和反思。
Students design a book page introducing ways to achieve happiness, present their work, and reflect on their learning.
四、教學評價與反思 (Teaching Evaluation and Reflection)
在本單元的教學中，我注重通過多元化的評價方式，如課堂觀察、學生自評、同伴互評和教師評價，來全面評估學生的學習效果。例如，在第六課時，學生通過展示書頁設計，接受全班同學的投票評價，這不僅增強了學生的自信心，也促進了他們的合作與創新能力。
In this unit, I focus on using diversified evaluation methods, such as classroom observation, student self-assessment, peer assessment, and teacher evaluation, to comprehensively assess students' learning outcomes. For example, in the sixth lesson, students present their book page designs and receive votes from the class, which not only boosts their confidence but also enhances their collaboration and innovation skills.
