1) that I can't get on with ... 此處作表語(yǔ), 是表語(yǔ)從句。表語(yǔ)從句與賓語(yǔ)從句一樣, 要用陳述語(yǔ)序。
2) get on/along with sb. “和某人相處”；
get on/along with sth. “在…方面取得進(jìn)展”
get on/along well with... “ 與……相處得好”

1) argue意為 “爭(zhēng)吵,爭(zhēng)論”。其名詞形式為argument 。
固定短語(yǔ)：
argue with sb. = have an argument with sb. “與某人爭(zhēng)論”
argue about sth. “就某事爭(zhēng)論”
argue with sb about sth. “為某事與某人爭(zhēng)論”
(2) hang over “掛在…之上，懸浮在…之上”
eg. White clouds hang over the mountain peaks.

辨析：elder與older
elder 年紀(jì)較長(zhǎng)的 只可指人 用來(lái)比較年齡大小,尤指兄弟姐妹的長(zhǎng)幼關(guān)系,只能作定語(yǔ)。
older 年齡較大的 指人 在句中可作定語(yǔ),也可作表語(yǔ)。
較舊的 指物 My younger son is five and my elder son is nine。
我的小兒子5歲，大兒子9歲。
Tom is two years older than I. 湯姆比我年長(zhǎng)兩歲。

1) instead 副詞, 意為 “反而; 代替; 而不是”, 通常放在句首或句末，在句首時(shí)，常用逗號(hào)隔開。 e.g.
If we can’t go to Huashan, we’ll go to Xi’an instead.

【區(qū)別】
instead of 介詞短語(yǔ), 意為 “代替；而不是”, 后面跟與前面并列成分相對(duì)應(yīng)的名詞、代詞、介詞短語(yǔ)、動(dòng)詞 ing形式。
Instead of going to Beijing I’m going to Dalian this year.

2) whatever 代詞, 意為 “無(wú)論什么;任何(事物)”, 相當(dāng)于no matter what, 引導(dǎo)讓步狀語(yǔ)從句。類似的詞還有whoever(無(wú)論誰(shuí)), whenever (無(wú)論何時(shí)), wherever(無(wú)論何地), however (無(wú)論怎樣)。e.g.
Whatever I suggest, he always disagrees.
無(wú)論我提什么建議，他都不同意。
I will do whatever you wish. 我會(huì)對(duì)你言聽計(jì)從。
【注】
whatever引導(dǎo)的從句作主語(yǔ),謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞用單數(shù)形式。eg：
Whatever I have is yours. 無(wú)論我有什么都是你的。
5. If your parents are having problems, you should offer to help.
offer 動(dòng)詞, 意為 “主動(dòng)提出;自愿給予;提供”。
① offer to do sth. “主動(dòng)提出做某事”；
② offer sb. sth. = offer sth. to sb. “給某人提供某物”
= provide sb (with) sth. = provide sth. for sb.
e.g. She offered me a cup of tea. 她給我端了杯茶。
He offered to go instead of me. 他主動(dòng)提出代替我去。
6. Secondly, why don’t you sit down and communicate with

1) communicate
① 作不及物動(dòng)詞時(shí), 意思是“溝通,交流”, 常用搭配為：
communicate with sb. “和某人溝通/交流/通話”

② 作及物動(dòng)詞時(shí), 意思是 “傳達(dá),傳遞”。其常用搭配是：
communicate sth. to sb. “把...傳達(dá)/傳遞給某人”

2) secondly adv. “第二；其次”
辨析： second和secondly
second用作序數(shù)詞或形容詞, 意為 “第二”, 常修飾名詞。
secondly是副詞, 意為 “其次,第二”, 常用來(lái)修飾整個(gè)句子。如：
First, it’s very expensive. Secondly, it’s ugly.
首先，它很貴。其次，它很難看 。
