Shining in the sun like a sheet of glass. They knew little that the shimmer (微光) wasn’t just ice; it was water sitting on the top of it.
Sam walked over to the edge, lifted his foot and placed it on the ice, followed slowly by the other foot. He had a smile on his face and set off for the middle of it. “Come on, guys. Look! It’s fine.” That was all anyone needed. One by one they touched down on the ice. Minutes passed by, and everything seemed to be going quite well for the boys, until it didn’t.
Anthony and Sam were walking next to each other, and the next moment, they were gone. The ice cracked underneath them, throwing them into the freezing cold water. The boys’ eyes widened, filled with terror, no clue what to do. Kyle turned and ran to the shore, praying they didn’t make the problem worse. Water splashed (濺起) everywhere as Sam and Anthony tried to grab the ice, but the effort was in vain.
