1. Step 1 Review:檢查閱讀理解練習題答案,回顧課文主要內容。
2. Step 2 Language Focus
Activity 2 Learning about the new language items
item1:“The city is known for its diverse cultures. It attracts people from all over the world, and each brings their own unique traditions and values.” 句中 “their” 指代不明身份的人,遵循現代英語中對性別不明指代的復數使用規則。
diverse adj.:不同的;多種多樣的。e.g. diverse cultures/opinions 多元文化/不同意見。There are diverse ways to solve this problem. 解決這個問題有多種方法。
be known for:因……而出名。類似表達:be famous for, be noted for。e.g. France is known for its fine wines. 法國以其美酒而聞名。
item2:“The local government has taken measures to preserve the historic buildings, which are a symbol of the city's long - standing history.”
preserve vt.:保護;保存;維護。e.g. preserve the environment 保護環境;preserve food 保存食物。We should preserve our cultural heritage. 我們應該保護我們的文化遺產。
