讀后續寫
閱讀下面材料,根據其內容和所給段落開頭語續寫兩段,使之構成一篇完整的短文。
Having got married a few years earlier, my husband and I now had a large gold-rimmed (鑲金的) china dinner service and a sizable collection of crystal glasses — all of them neatly packed away in tissue paper and bubble wrap, not serving their essential purpose for a single time. We agreed that they should be saved for a special occasion.
We were waiting for the very occasion until my father was gone.
To organize his funeral, I went to my parents’ house. Soon I found myself wandering the house in search of my dad. As I opened the wardrobe (衣柜) door in my parents’ room, I was shocked to discover piles of sweaters, nearly all of which were still in their wrapping, never worn.
I knew those sweaters. Whenever I was stuck for an idea of what to buy my dad for his birthday or Christmas, I’d fall back on one of two items that always seemed to go down well; a sweater or a bottle of whiskey. My dad had been a maker of sweaters for all his life. It felt only right and proper that he deserved some nice sweaters in his late years. My dad also claimed to enjoy a nice drop of whiskey. Over the years, he’d collect several bottles from clients and suppliers in the run-up to Christmas. So, when illness brought his career to a premature end, it seemed only natural that I became his regular whiskey supplier.
The trouble was, I never saw him wearing any of those sweaters, and I never saw him enjoying a whiskey. I often asked him why. His answer was always the same, “I’ m saving them for a special occasion.”
I returned downstairs and went to what was known in the family as “Dad’s Cupboard” and there was every bottle of whiskey I’d ever bought him. All unopened.

五、兩篇寫作示范
示范一
A wave of mixed emotions swept over me. As I carried the sweaters and whiskey out of my parents' house, memories of my dad flooded my mind. I remembered his kind smile and the way he always said he was saving these for a special occasion. In the car, I couldn't hold back my tears. I thought about how many precious moments he had missed. By the time I reached home, I was determined to make a change.
My husband was surprised to see those items all on the table. I sat him down and poured my heart out. After listening, he nodded solemnly. We decided to start a new tradition. Every Sunday, we'd have a family dinner using our fancy china and crystal glasses. We opened a bottle of whiskey and raised a toast to my dad. We also donated half of the sweaters to a local shelter. As the weeks passed, our home was filled with more laughter and warmth. We realized that life was too short to wait for special occasions.
示范二
A wave of mixed emotions swept over me. With the boxes of sweaters and bottles of whiskey in my arms, I took one last look around my parents' house. The sadness of losing my dad was overwhelming, but so was the realization of how much he had missed. On the drive home, I kept thinking about all the times I could have urged him to enjoy these gifts. When I got home, I was ready to embrace a new way of life.
My husband was surprised to see those items all on the table. I shared my father's story with him, my voice trembling. He immediately hugged me and said he was on board with any change I wanted to make. We planned a big dinner party for our friends. We used our gold - rimmed china and crystal glasses, and served the whiskey. During the party, we told everyone about my dad and our new philosophy. Some of our friends were inspired and decided to follow suit. We continued to donate the sweaters and, in the process, found a new sense of purpose. This experience taught us that every day could be a special occasion if we chose to make it so.
【答案】范文
A wave of mixed emotions swept over me. My fingers trembled as I traced the dust-covered whiskey labels, each representing a missed opportunity to share warmth with Dad. Suddenly, the china set stored in our attic flashed through my mind — those pristine plates imprisoned in bubble wrap, just like Dad’s untouched treasures. With determined steps, I began carefully unpacking every sweater, arranging them on Dad’s bed as colorful soldiers of remembrance. The whiskey bottles clinked gently as I carried them downstairs, their amber liquid finally catching afternoon sunlight through the window.
My husband was surprised to see those items all on the table. “Are we… using the special china tonight ” he asked, noticing our wedding crystal shining beside Dad’s whiskey collection. I poured two glasses, the golden liquid swirling like liquid sunset. “Every day with loved ones is the special occasion,” I whispered, clinking my glass against his. The crystal’s clear chime echoed through the house, mingling with the faint rustle of tissue paper being torn from plates that would finally host laughter instead of dust.
