when “當……的時候”，其引導的時間狀語從句中，謂語可使用非延續性動詞(如arrive、begin、borrow、go、take、stop、die等)，也可使用延續性動詞(如be、lie、stay、live、study等)。 When he saw me, he said “hello” to me.
I loved history when I was at school.
while “當……的時候”，其引導的從句謂語動詞通常為延續性動詞。 I read it while you were drying your hair.
“而；然而”，表示轉折對比 Tom is very confident while Katy's shy and quiet.
