Boy: Yesterday was a terrible day. My alarm didn’t go off so I woke up late. It was seven thirty when I woke up, and I needed to be at school by eight! I ran to the bus stop … but, I still missed the bus. It was eight thirty when I got to school. My teacher was angry and I felt bad all day. At four thirty, it was time to go home.
I was waiting for the bus when…all of a sudden … it began to rain heavily. It was like … a really crazy rainstorm! I thought I had an umbrella in my schoolbag, so I kept trying to look for it. I was so busy looking for the umbrella that I didn’t see a car coming. And it got water all over me!
I was waiting like that … completely wet … for maybe almost an hour. Finally, the bus came and brought me home. I took a hot shower and ate some warm food. It felt so good to be home!

1．miss
miss作動詞，在本句中表示“錯過”，后面可接名詞、代詞或動詞 ing 形式作賓語。
Be quick，or you will miss the early bus.

pick up的其他含義：
(1)pick up 意為“撿起”，up是副詞。如果賓語是代詞時，要放在pick和up中間。

第一課時　Section A (1a－2d)
考點 What were you doing when the rainstorm came？當暴風雨來臨時你在做什么？
(1)“What were you doing…？”是一個過去進行時的句子。過去進行時表示在過去某一時刻或某一段時間里正在進行的動作，其結(jié)構(gòu)為：was/were＋v. ing(現(xiàn)在分詞)。
(2)“when the rainstorm came”是一個由when引導的時間狀語從句。該句子可以用介詞短語at the time of the rainstorm替換。
考點 when和while在時間狀語從句中的用法
when 意為“當(在)……時”，可表示時間點或時間段，主、從句所表示的動作可同時發(fā)生，也可先后發(fā)生。
while 意為“正當(正在)……時”，只表示時間段，從句中動詞需用延續(xù)性動詞，而且通常要用進行時態(tài)；while強調(diào)主句的動作在從句動作發(fā)生的過程中，或兩個動作同時發(fā)生；如果主句和從句中的動作同時進行，那么主句也要用進行時態(tài)。
