Canada has the third biggest library in the world. The library holds 20 million books, 24 million photographs and a lot of digital works.
Its collection includes The Proclamation of the Canadian Constitution Act, the British North America Act and many more precious works.
The New York Public Library (NYPL)
It is the fourth largest library in the world. It is the public library having 87 branches. The library has a collection of 53 million items. It also has four research libraries which are open to the general public. You can ask and discover about anything on the official website of NYPL.

I’m a seventeen-year-old boy preparing for my A Level exams at the end of the year. In the society where my peers (同齡人) and I live, we tend to accept the rat race values. As students, we want to get good grades so that we can get good jobs. I enjoy studying and have consistently received A’s in my classes. There was a year when I finished first in my class in the final exams. It was a great accomplishment.
Another one I am pleased with is that I managed to improve the relationship between Mum and Dad. Dad was a successful businessman who was rarely at home. Mum was a housewife who always felt bored and constantly nagged (嘮叨) him to let her go to work. Their constant arguing bothered me, so I advised Dad that Mum would be better off with a part-time job. He agreed, and their relationship has improved since then.
My most proud achievement, however, is my successful work in the local old folks’ home. My grandparents had raised me since I was a child. I wept (哭泣) bitterly when they died. Unlike many of my classmates, I do not take part in my school’s community service to earn points. I enjoy my voluntary work and believe I’m contributing to a worthwhile cause. This is where I can help. I talk to the elderly, assist them with their daily life, and listen to their problems, glory days and the hardships they experienced.
Last year, I hosted a successful New Year party for the elderly and they enjoyed a great time. Many expressed a desire to attend another party the following year. When I reflect on my accomplishments, I’m especially proud of my service at the old folks’ home, so I hope to study social work at university and work as a social worker in the future. I wish to be more skilled in attending to the less fortunate as well as find great satisfaction in it, after all.

Stress isn’t just a state of mind. It’s something that can create disorder in your body. Experts say poor physical health can often signal poor mental health. Research shows stress affects the nervous system and can even cause structural (結構的) changes in the brain, which can change how we think and change our memory. Stress can also weaken our immune (免疫的) system, making us ill more easily.
How do you check your body for stress Kennedy, director of psychology at Driftwood Recovery Center in Texas, said sometimes it’s easier for someone to focus on physical symptoms (癥狀) than to identify what they’re feeling emotionally. That’s why she advises her patients to perform a daily body check. “We’re not going to be aware of how we’re feeling or how we’re starting to have a little more muscle tension,” Kennedy said.
To check in, you need to slow down. “Check in with each muscle group, from your feet to your head,” she said. “You can notice things like, ‘Oh, I’m having a headache,’ or ‘maybe I’m having some fatigue, which makes me want to sleep.’”
Kennedy said, while stress may not feel good, our body’s responses to it are likely to be a good thing in the end if we can make full use of these signals. She also notes that one of the things that can be most healing (治愈的) to a body is connection to another person.“There’s neurochemicals (神經(jīng)化學物質) that actually get produced in our brains when we’re connecting with others in a meaningful way,” she said. “Relationships and connection with others are key.”

In some places, people collect honey from wild bees. This is common in many parts of the world, especially South Asia. Honey hunting is a local tradition in southern India but it is not an undemanding job. The bees in southern India can grow up to the size of the smallest adult human finger. And these giant honey bees build their hives (蜂窩) on the sides of mountains!
It takes many years for a honey hunter to learn to collect honey from these hives. From a young age the honey hunter learns everything about bees. He practices climbing hundreds of meters above the ground. Before the honey season, the honey hunter prepares for many days.
When the day of the honey hunt season arrives, the honey hunter goes to the edge of the mountain early in the morning. He climbs down with a rope and lights some dry branches on fire. The smoke makes the bees leave the hive. With the bees flying around the honey hunter, he uses a long sharp stick to gently get pieces of the wax (蜜蠟) filled with honey. He then takes them back to the village in a box made of bamboo.
Usually the hunter takes some honey and leaves some of the hive on the mountainside. He does not take the part of the hive with the baby bees in it since he does not want to destroy the home of the bees. When the honey hunter returns, the village celebrates!
“They have been hunting honey in this way for more than 2,000 years. Honey was and still is an important part of their diet, cooking and medicine,” Simone Gie from the organization Slow Food International, said.
