Ben’s family is always trying to think of ways to give the environment a helping hand. What did they do this time Well, it started simply enough.

It’s believed that Chinese is one of the most difficult languages in the world. For one thing, Chinese has tens of thousands of characters (漢字). And its writing way, is also one of the main difficulties for all the learners. More importantly, the language has different tones (聲調), “ma”with the first Chinese tone means “mom”, but with the third tone, it means “horse”.
However, according to the Ministry of Education (教育部) in China, the Chinese language learning is available (可獲得的) in more than 180 countries around the world. 76 countries have included the Chinese language in their national education systems and nearly 200 million people have received Chinese language training.
With so many interesting foreign languages to learn, why choose Chinese For one, China plays an important role in the world events. Learning Chinese may help one find a good job. Also, China has a long history with rich culture and its culture and cooking styles have long influenced its neighbors and the West. Knowing the language also makes traveling around China easier and more enjoyable.
As for learning Chinese, there is no magic. Just spend time practicing it. Listen and speak as often as possible. Listen to Chinese music and watch Chinese movies and shows. Try to speak with native Chinese speakers. Don’t forget to read traditional Chinese stories to understand the culture or try reading a Chinese newspaper. As for writing, practice writing Chinese characters in a notebook and create sentences with them as you improve.

There is great excitement and argument over Artificial Intelligence (AI, 人工智能). The argument about whether robots will replace (替代) teachers in the classroom is very heated. Some people think it is sure to happen in the next ten years. Others think that the value a good teacher brings, not only to the classroom setting, but also in developing a child’s confidence (信心) and creativity outside lessons, cannot be easily replaced.
AI is not new for us and is already being used successfully in many fields, such as medicine, science and so on. So what does this mean for our future In my view, AI will help kids to think more freely and creatively. Can AI possibly cut down the teaching work in the future, too Of course. Our teachers are always busy preparing materials for their lessons. Just imagine how happy they would be if they don’t have to copy hundreds of paper, but instead, have this task or others done by machines.
However, most importantly, I do not believe AI will be able to imitate (模仿) the human mental condition totally, especially emotional intelligence (情商). What makes learning memorable is shared experience, human interaction (相互作用), and long— lasting positive relationships. For example, experienced teachers can comfort (安慰) a student if he has suffered a serious loss. But there is no evidence (證據) that robots can imitate this adaptability well.
I also believe we need to continue to celebrate our kids’ individuality (個性) and their ability not only to make decisions but also make the right decisions. These are skills that they can get as they get more life experience and are given the space to experiment.

I did face some problems in 2024. My biggest problem was struggling with math. No matter how hard I tried, complex formulas and difficult problems always confused me.
