Unit 8 Once Upon a Time
1. once prep. 在······上 (與 on同義, 但 upon 常用于正式場(chǎng)合或 once upon a time 等短語(yǔ)中)
once upon a time= long (long) ago 從前, 很久以前(常用在故事的開(kāi)頭)
Once upon a time, an emperor loved/ liked clothes very much.

2. bite v. 咬;叮 (bite-bit-bitten) n. 咬 (一口) , 咬傷
The mouse bit through the net. 老鼠咬穿了網(wǎng)。 (教材第58頁(yè), 1b)
3.“動(dòng)詞+er/r”常構(gòu)成對(duì)應(yīng)的名詞
hunt-hunter, teach-teacher, work-worker, drive-driver, write-writer, farm (種地) - farmer等
4. promise v./n. 承諾, 保證, 諾言 promise(not) to do承諾(不) 做某事
promise sb sth= promise sth to sb 答應(yīng)給某人某物 make/ keep a promise 許下/遵守諾言
The mouse promised to help the lion. 老鼠承諾幫助獅子。 (教材第58頁(yè), 1b)
5. breakv. 打破, 違反, 折斷(break-broke-broken) n. 休息, 間歇(= rest) have a break/ rest 休息一下The farmer's son broke his leg. 農(nóng)夫的兒子摔斷了他的腿。 (教材第58頁(yè), 1c)
6. wise adj. 有智慧的, 高明的 wisely adv. 明智地, 聰明地
7.否定疑問(wèn)句：由助動(dòng)詞、情態(tài)動(dòng)詞或 be動(dòng)詞的否定形式(多用縮略形式)加上主語(yǔ)和其他成分構(gòu)成，多用來(lái)表示驚訝、感嘆、責(zé)難、建議或看法等，通常譯為： “難道不(沒(méi))……嗎 ”
否定疑問(wèn)句的答語(yǔ)和一般疑問(wèn)句的答語(yǔ)一樣，肯定回答用 yes，否定回答用 no，但翻譯成漢語(yǔ)時(shí)，yes要譯為“不”, no則譯為“是”
否定疑問(wèn)句

Yes,I do. 不，我想。
2、 Isn't he a student 他不是一個(gè)學(xué)生嗎
No, he isn't. 是的，他不是。
3、 Can't she go swimming 她不能去游泳了嗎
Yes, she can. 不，她能去。
8. lie ①vi. 撒謊(lie-lied-lied-lying) lie to sb 對(duì)某人撒謊 He is lying. 他在撒謊。

②vi. 位于……位置(lie-lay-lain)
lie to (位于某范圍外) Liaoning lies to the northeast of Shaanxi.
lie in (位于某范圍內(nèi)) Guangdong lies in the south of China.
lie on(位于兩地接壤處) Jilin lies on the north of Liaoning.
③vi. 躺, 平躺 lie down 躺下休息
④n. 謊言 tell a lie/ tell lies 撒謊

In the street 介詞短語(yǔ)修飾前面的名詞 people(此知識(shí)點(diǎn)為介詞短短做后置定語(yǔ))譯為：街上的人

13. afraid adj. 害怕的, 擔(dān)心的 be afraid of sb/ sth 害怕某人/某物
be afraid to do= be afraid of doing 害怕做某事
They were afraid to look silly, too.他們也害怕看起來(lái)愚蠢。
14. sudden adj. 突然的 suddenly adv. 突然地, 出乎意料地 (常放在句首狀語(yǔ))
15. start to do/ doing= begin to do/ doing 開(kāi)始做某事
They started/ began laughing. 他們開(kāi)始大笑。
16. atfirst 起初，最初(有比較的意思，暗示后面有變化)可用于句首或句末

20. 詞義辨析: sometimes, some times, sometime, some time
sometimes 頻度副詞 有時(shí) 表示動(dòng)作發(fā)生的不確定性，用 how often 來(lái)提問(wèn)
some times 名詞短語(yǔ) 幾次/幾倍 用 how many times來(lái)提問(wèn)(time: /C/ 次、倍)
sometime 副詞 某個(gè)時(shí)候 表示某個(gè)不確定不具體的時(shí)間，常用一般過(guò)去式或?qū)?lái)時(shí)，用when 來(lái)提問(wèn)
some time 名詞短語(yǔ) 一段時(shí)間 句中謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞常用延續(xù)性動(dòng)詞， how long 來(lái)提問(wèn)
