I was for a meeting one night. I ran to my bike parked in Waterloo Square, only to find my keys missing. I wanted to rent a bike, as the meeting was in a place inconvenient to get to by bus. There’s a bike shop just nearby. Unfortunately, when I got there, it had closed.
Frustrated, I weighed my options: I could cancel the meeting, call a taxi, or borrow a bike from a stranger. The last one seemed the most enjoyable. I tried many places to find the kind stranger. No luck until I found a liquor store. I walked in and found a boy and a girl interacting with a customer. After the customer paid, I came up saying I needed help. Knowing I had lost my bicycle keys, the girl began to search a box. “No, I actually wanted to borrow your bike if you’re working late today. ” She said she hadn’t come by bike. The world’s only self-driving taxi company has been forced to fix a fleet of cars after residents complained about their constant honking (鳴笛). The autonomous (自動的) car company arrived in a car park in San Francisco, a few weeks ago, where they waited between jobs. However, the cars were equipped with an update that made them honk whenever another car was close to them.
Christopher Cherry who lives next to the car park, said he was “really excited” to have the company in the neighbourhood when their cars moved in, thinking it would bring more security and quiet to the area. Instead, the taxis honked at each other through the night as they parked or set off on a journey, making it hard to sleep. “The cars are robotic and they’re collectively (共同地) honking at each other and there’s no one in the cars when it’s happening, and that’s absurd.”
One resident got so angry that she started to post the car park online, gathering tens of thousands of views on some of her videos. “Help,” says Sophia Tung at the end of one of her videos where the cars can be heard honking late at night, which caused great reaction on the social media.
The taxi company said the honking problem is now fixed. “It has been working great in the city, but we didn’t quite predict that it would happen so often in our own parking lots. We’ve updated the software, so our electric vehicles should keep the noise down for our neighbors moving forward,” the company’s manager said. As the cars left their car park at 4 a.m. on Wednesday, the honking did indeed appear to be solved. Ms Tung confirmed to her hundreds of live viewers in the chat: “They didn’t honk.”

Have you ever suffered a generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) Anxiety is a natural response to stress or danger and is often associated with fear and worry. If you’re feeling anxious, you may experience physical symptoms (癥狀), such as sweating, shaking, sickness, or muscle tenseness. When we’re faced with a stressful situation — a public speech, an unexpected call or even a high-pressure work environment, this may cause our heart rate to speed up, our body to sweat, and our blood pressure to rise.
“Our body is increasing our heart rate to be able to manage a potentially dangerous situation, and as a natural consequence, our blood pressure increases during this time, ” says Wheaton, an assistant professor of psychology at Barnard College. “Typically, our blood pressure returns to the normal range as the anxiety relieves. The relationship between anxiety and high blood pressure is complex. Although anxiety can lead to short-term increases in blood pressure, it generally doesn’t increase the risk for long-term high blood pressure. ”
Unfortunately, some people use unhealthy methods to deal with their stress or anxiety and engage in the following behaviors, such as smoking, poor sleep habits, avoiding exercise, poor diet or drinking alcohol. These can have a negative impact on overall health.
If you want to solve your anxiety and blood pressure problems, some experts offer a treatment method that involves biofeedback (生物反饋). Through biofeedback therapy (BFT), you can observe and learn to be aware of the potential physical changes that may occur due to anxiety and high blood pressure. “The method is that with practice, you could learn to control your bodily response, easing tension and slowing your heart rate down to enter a more relaxed state, ” Wheaton says.
