C 細節理解題【解析】根據第一段中的“Saying'no'to everything just felt natural, and the two letters slid off my tongue so well that eventually people stopped asking me to do things."可知,說“不”對作者來說是一件 很自然的事情,以至于人們最終不再讓他做事情。因為人們知道,結果會跟以前一樣,還是會被作者拒 絕。故選 C。
25. A 細節理解題【解析】根據第二段中的“She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future (力量和尊嚴是她的衣裝,她笑迎未來無所畏懼)”及后文可知,這句詩告訴作者,不必過于擔心未 來,要無所畏懼地笑著面對。 故選A。
26. D 細節理解題【解析】根據第三段中的“Of course this change has had both good and bad outcomes, ranging from fun memories to lots of work and making semi-costly mistakes, leading to the unavoidable blames from my boss.”
根據第三段中的“the women who contributed to the increase in cosmetic purchases included an even mixture of married and single women, employed and unemployed”可知,推動化妝品 消費增長的女性包括已婚和單身女性、有工作的和無工作的女性。
29. B 詞義猜測題【解析】根據第四段中的“there are various potential reasons why lipstick purchases increase when the economy is down, and they have nothing to do with mating and the male gaze"可知,女性購買口紅的動 機,與擇偶和吸引男性目光沒有關系。因此,口紅顏色對男性并不是最有吸引力的。 inviting 可意為“有 吸引力的"。故選 B。
30. D 細節理解題【解析】根據第一段中的“They found a rise in make-up purchases during the years when money was the tightest.There are a few theories that try to explain this seemingly impractical trend.”以及最后 一 段 中 的“Whether it's lipstick,single-use facials,or a new book,purchasing low-cost luxury items”可 知 , 在人們缺錢的時候,包含口紅在內的化妝品購買量呈上升趨勢,且“口紅效應”的這種趨勢不局限于口 紅,還包括了很多其他低成本的奢侈品。

32. A 細節理解題【解析】根據第一段中的“History as it is studied today begins with the earliest civilizations which left visual and literary evidence which historians can collect, analyse and interpret."可知,今天所研究的歷史始于 最早的文明,這些文明留下了歷史學家可以收集、分析和解釋的第一手的視覺和文學證據。故選A。
33. C 推理判斷題【解析】根據第二段中的“Historians study the source evidence left by the people of these periods in order to understand who, how, why and what they were.We are then taught to form differing interpretations by other historians within our own theories and research,in order to create a balanced, informed and analytical article, book or documentary.”
34. D 細節理解題【解析】根據最后一段中的“Pure objectivity can never be realised as we are all highly subjective, emotional beings"可知,純粹的客觀性不會實現,因為我們人類是高度主觀的、有感情的物種。由此可 見,人類的本質決定了歷史研究不可能是純粹客觀的。故選D。
35. B 標題歸納題【解析】第一段是引入研究背景;第二段通過不同歷史學家的見解引出客觀性這一問題;第三段講述的是 過度強調客觀性的危害,即導致我們忽視那些看似不重要的事件或人物;第四段從人的本質角度解釋了 純粹的客觀性不會實現的原因。由此可見,B 項最符合文章主旨大意。故選B。

第四部分 寫作
第一節
Dear sir or Madam,
The campus canteen, offering considerable tasty dishes, plays a key part in maintaining our wellness. However, there's still room for it to enhance the service.
To begin with, dishes like fried chicken are priced at 18 yuan, which stops some students from consuming.I suggest the prices should be adjusted based on our buying power.Secondly,it would be better if the chopsticks employed for a long time were replaced by new ones. Most importantly,it's our common wishes that the staff can show more patience with us.
Although making changes overnight isn't a piece of cake,I do hope my advice will be considered and adopted.
Yours,
Li Hua

After figuring out the details,he decided to drive me home.I stood still, unwilling to board the car."I'm sure your parents give a priority to your safety rather than your marks.Follow me,"he said. After taking my seat in the car,it occurred to me that this event may ruin the relationship between my parents and me.Catching sight of my worry,he pointed out communication was the best solution.I nodded slightly and extended my thanks to him."Maybe it's high time that I should have a chat with my parents,"I thought to myself.

The Great Pyramid of Khufu
The Great Pyramid of Khufu in Cairo is the largest and most northerly of the three famous pyramids at Giza, and the only one of the Seven Wonders of the World left standing today. As the largest pyramid ever built,it is a wonder mainly because of its grand scale(規模)and the incredible precision with which the building work was conducted.Designed by Khufu's cousin Hemon, the pyramid originally stood 482 feet high with four equal sides each measuring 755 feet.
The Luxor Temple

The New Gourna
The New Gourna is an uncompleted housing project in Luxor from the 1940s that was created to move away the villagers of Old Gourna, who economically sustained their community by stealing local Pharoanic tombs—much to the displeasure of the Egyptian Department of Antiquities, who wanted to move the 7,000 locals away from the area.Hassan Fathy,an architect known for his rural housing and traditional methods, was hired to design the new village on a site 50 miles away.

Contrary to most boys,I've never had a problem saying“no”.No to let my desk neighbor borrow a pencil. No to just take"one sip"(嘗一口 )of a drink I didn't want.Saying“no"to everything just felt natural, and the two letters slid off my tongue so well that eventually people stopped asking me to do things. My thought process was simple:If something wasn't within my comfort zone,I should avoid it.
One of my favorite poems from the Bible has always been,“She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future”,but I never actually laughed or did anything without fearing what would happen next. So,with a sudden urge,I decided to start saying“yes"as long as it wasn't illegal and didn't violate my own moral code.
This one word brought all kinds of new experiences where I found myself in a bar playing late one night with new friends and sitting in the front row at SoulCycle—a nice change from my back row, corner spot.Of course this change has had both good and bad outcomes, ranging from fun memories to lots of work and making semi-costly mistakes, leading to the unavoidable blames from my boss.
Remember when we were six and the whole world was ours We colored on the walls and slid into the cookie jar, fearless and unconcerned. We said"yes"to whatever we felt like doing, and then we became adults. Our dreams and sense of adventure faded away with our imaginary friends.
Reality is that we all have dreams, but most of us make excuses for not pursuing them. It's more like a matter of inertia(惰性) ,of just ignoring the dreams,of maintaining the present situation.“No”keeps everything predictable. But you can break out of your comfort zone and get more out of life through the simple power of"yes".

A.Laughter from his boss. B.Vital mistakes at work.

C.Golden days in childhood are precious. D.Dreams fuel one's courage to take risks.

The“lipstick effect”refers to the idea that women purchase more lipsticks when the economy is in bad shape.A 2020 study published by the Journal of Behavioral and Experimental Economics investigated the spending habits of women aging 18-40 during the 2007 recession(衰退). They found a rise in make-up purchases during the years when money was the tightest. There are a few theories that try to explain this seemingly impractical trend.
In a 2021 article published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, researchers theorized that the“lipstick effect”was a result of evolutionary mating psychology.“The lipstick effect reflects a strategic shift in women's consumer behavior that is guided by the desire to attract the mates they most desire in an environment where they are rare,"the researchers concluded.
Though this paper is frequently cited,a 2020 study published in the Journal of Behavioral and Experimental Economics suggested that the women who contributed to the increase in cosmetic purchases included an even mixture of married and single women, employed and unemployed.
It turns out,the most popular lipstick color for women to buy is contrary to what men find the most bewitching. That said, there are various potential reasons why lipstick purchases increase when the economy is down, and they have nothing to do with mating and the male stare.
“Perhaps people simply trade down to cheaper luxury and feel-good purchases when money gets tight,” consumer psychologist at the University of the Arts,London,Dr.Paul Marsden, told Byrdie. This is a great assumption, considering a survey conducted by found that 51.8%of adult Americans purchase products when they are seeking to improve their mood.
However, there has yet to be any conclusive evidence explaining the“lipstick effect”.Whether it's lipstick,single-use facials,or a new book, purchasing low-cost luxury items can be a pick-me-up in the face of tough times.
28.What can we know from the 2021 article
A.It did not observe single women's behavior. B.It showed no respect for female consumers.

A.People in bad economic times try to lift spirits.
B.Paul Marsden offered a conclusive explanation.
C.'s finding contradicted Paul Marsden's view.
D.Over half of Americans suffer from economic recession.

History as it is studied today begins with the earliest civilizations which left visual and literary evidence which historians can collect, analyse and interpret.Western historians begin with the Mesopotamians, the Ancient Egyptians, and especially the Ancient Greeks. These might be the first civilizations to produce complex texts, art and architecture to which we still have some access in the twenty-first century.
Historians study the source evidence left by the people of these periods in order to understand who, how,why and what they were.We are then taught to form differing interpretations by other historians within our own theories and research,in order to create a balanced, informed and analytical article, book or documentary. The article must remain dispassionate and aim towards objectivity, removing any subjective prejudice which might emerge before and during research.
However,it is too limiting and it can paint a false picture of the past to both professional and recreational readers,by focusing too narrowly on certain events or individuals and completely ignoring other seemingly less important events or individuals, through a lack of either evidence or interest.History as a series of events covers the lives of billions of people from every country for thousands of years. Each individual's actions and everyday life, from their birth until their death, whether emperor or peasant,is history, and worthy of study in its own right.
Furthermore,to be objective in an historical essay, one must be separated from one's study, having no emotional reaction to the evidence and maintaining a tolerance and relativity to historical context,so that the evidence will not be destroyed by modern preconceptions(成見).
However, absolute separation, whether through attempted objectivity or distance of time,is useless to historical study.Pure objectivity can never be realized as we are all highly subjective, emotional beings, and what we write will always reflect this:it is what makes us human, and humanity is what we study.
32.How did the earliest civilizations help historians
A.By providing first-hand materials. B.By recording analytical skills.
C.By simplifying historical research. D.By presenting valuable works.
33.What's the difference between the former and present historians
A.Approaches to text analysis. B.Analysis of historical novels.
C.Attitudes to previous research. D.Willingness to stay subjective.
34.Why is pure objectivity criticized according to the passage
A.It ignores events with no significance. B.It cuts the ties between certain events.
C.It shows an unclear image of the past. D.It acts against human beings' nature.
35.What is the suitable title for the passage
A.History:The Subject Affected by Social Environment.
B.History:The Study of the Subjective and Unimportant.
C.Subjectivity:An Element Hard to Overcome for People.
D.Subjectivity:An Element Beneficial to Old Civilizations.

People only exhibit their best moments on social media. Some celebrities are airbrushed(美化)or hide the truth of their plastic surgery. Many people photoshop their faces and bodies to look exactly how they want. 36 It seems that all the people are in pursuit of presenting their best images.
Beyond these“best images”,some social media heavily promote eating disorder culture and unhealthy attitudes about food and weight in general. Some social media also promote over-exercising. 37
However, pushing yourself too hard can be harmful and contributes to some eating disorders. When someone is exercising a lot, they need to eat more to fuel their body, but some people are often eating less than they should while pushing their bodies beyond the limit.
38 Basically, people who struggle with eating disorders tend to think that they aren't“sick enough”. If they encounter others with eating disorders, they constantly compare themselves. Thus, people, using social media, need to avoid posting videos or pictures with body checking, constant weighing,or calorie counting. This type of content simply isn't helpful for anyone. So if you feel like you need to lose weight, discuss it with your doctor and make a personalized plan. 39
As for me,I've learned a lot from my own struggle with an eating disorder.During my treatment, the most striking thing my nutritionist said to me was,“ 40 "She's absolutely right.Self-love isn't always realistic;self-acceptance is much better.
A.You need to love your body.
B.Take yourself as what you are.
C.Indeed,proper exercising is healthy.
D.A lot of the actual photos are straight-up fake.
E.There are countless methods of changing their bodies.
F.Don't listen to strangers who don't know you or your body.
G.It's essential to avoid posting things that could cause body image issues.

Like many other teenagers,I suffered from growing pains. As I entered the last year of my high school,I had enough of my parents' complaints about my academic performances. It seemed that the grades overshadowed all my positive qualities. Therefore,I lost my temper and argued with them every now and then, only to feel more upset.
One day,in a history class,I saw birds flying and singing outside the window, and my mind began to wander like a cloud."If I were a bird,I would have nothing to worry about,"I thought to myself. It suddenly dawned on me that the world outside was waiting to be explored.Without hesitation, after class, I left a note on the desk that read,“The world is so big that I want to have a look.”
Making sure that I carried adequate change,I boarded the bus.Freeing myself from the thick books, I even found breathing was an enjoyment. The bus was bound for rural areas, where peaceful landscapes would definitely heal my growing pains.Soon,I reached the terminal station. The beautiful countryside surrounded with a winding lake and humble cottages was a perfect getaway.Walking alongside the lake gave me a sense of inner peace, allowing me to temporarily forget the upcoming examinations.
However, the relaxation was only temporary. With the night approaching,I began to fear the darkness.I could hardly see my hands in front of me and rushed to the bus stop in panic.Unfortunately, I missed the last bus.The light of a cottage caught my attention, and I saw it as a chance to seek help.
