The Naadam Festival is a grand annual celebration in Mongolia that showcases the country’s rich cultural heritage and nomadic(游牧民族) traditions.
The festival is not just about sports; it is a celebration of Mongolian culture and identity. It begins with the Ceremony of Nine White Banners(九白旗), a tradition revived to celebrate Mongolia’s return to democracy. The festival also features parades, traditional dances, concerts, and performances of long songs and throat singing.

I experienced the Naadam Festival in China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region for the first time this year. The festival falls on the fourth day of the six month of the lunar calendar, usually lasting for three days. Naadam means "games" in Mongolian, and it is represented by three events: horse racing, wrestling, and archery, which are all so exciting to watch!

On the first day, I set off to the games early with my friend Burin. I saw a lot of people wearing fancy Mongolian robes. Some were feeding their horses, some were practising archery, and others were chatting or taking photographs. Burin told me that Mongolians travel every year from near and far to attend the festival, just as their ancestors had done for centuries.

After the opening ceremony and some amazing performances, the wrestling competition began. Mongolian wrestling is different from the wrestling in the Olympic Games. There are no rounds, and wrestlers are not separated by weight. The wrestler loses if any part of his body above his knee touches the ground. After singing some songs, the competitors danced onto the green field, waving their arms in the air as if they were eagles. I was quite moved by their show of strength and grace.

The Spring Festival, falling on the first day of the first month of the lunar calendar, is the most important festival for all Chinese people. Although I have experienced it many times, it is still an enjoyable and exciting experience.
An unforgettable festival experience
Days before the Spring Festival, I helped my parents clean the room completely, decorated my house with papercuts, prepared delicious food, and stuck couplets, eagerly waiting for the coming of the New Year’s Eve .
On the Eve of the festival, my family members enjoyed getting together to have a big meal, including the tasty dumplings, fish and so on as we watched the Spring Gala, which was really a feast for the eyes. My parents gave me some lucky money in red paper and I was so excited that I stayed up to welcome the new year.
Although feeling tired, I was extremely happy because the Festival provides a valuable chance for us to enjoy as well as be proud of our customs. I’m looking forward to the coming of the next Spring Festival.

My Experience During the Double Ninth Festival
As one of the most popular traditional festivals in China, the Double Ninth Festival is observed on the 9th day of the 9th lunar month, which is a great occasion to show respect for the elderly.
I still remember my family climbing Mount Songshan to celebrate the Double Ninth Festival last year. It took us an hour to get there by car. We stopped at the foot of the mountain and started climbing.
Since our grandfather is in his sixties, we walked slowly to make sure he was not too tired. We relaxed ourselves along the way by chatting with each other and taking photos. After we reached the top, we had a good rest. Then we took the cable cars (纜車) down the hill, which allowed us to enjoy the amazing sights.

My First Spring Festival in the Countryside
Last year I visited my uncle’s family，and this was my first time celebrating the Spring Festival in my uncle’s home in the countryside.
The Spring Festival falls on the first day of the first month of the lunar calendar.People held various activities to celebrate it，ranging from putting up the Spring Festival couplets to watching lion dance and dragon dance.It is typical of family members to gather on the Lunar New Year’s Eve to have a big feast and watch the Spring Festival Gala.At dawn，we all dressed up and paid a New Year’s visit door to door，after which we watched an amazing lion dance.

My joyful Lantern Festival
Lantern festival, one of the most significant Chinese traditional festivals, falls on the fifteenth day of the first lunar month, usually in February or March. It features oceans of lanterns for people to appreciate and riddles on lanterns for people to solve. I still remember my most joyful Lantern festival when I was a child.
On that Lantern festival night, I set off to the local square to join the riddle- guessing contest. All along the way, I saw people from near and far packing the street in excitement. Some were stretching themselves to see the lantern parade including lion dancing and lanterns in many fancy shapes. Others were chatting or taking photos to record this unforgettable moment.
As for me, the riddle-guessing contest is the most thrilling part.Riddles are written down and posted on each lantern by the owners. If anyone has the solution to the riddle, they are given the opportunity to present their answer to the lantern owner to see if it is right. If correct, the person is given a gift for his or her hard work. My journey there was totally worth it because I solved 6 riddles that night and won a lovely toy car for myself.
On back home, my mother feasted me with a bowl of mouthwatering Yuanxiao, which represented unity, happiness and harmony among family members. It was amazing to have such a joyful Lantern Festival experience with my family and I will recommend anyone travelling to China to experience it!
