Hello, listeners! Welcome to our English Pod! Today we will talk about Wang Xingxing. Mr. Wang, the founder of Unitree Robotics, has an amazing story of overcoming challenges and achieving success. He was not a top student at school, especially not good at English, but he loved inventions and has shown great talent since he was young. He made his first invention, a wind-powered car, when he was in primary school. And he kept trying out different machines during his school years.
In college, he experienced a lot. Even though he was refused by Zhejiang University because of his poor English grades, Wang kept studying and made a low-cost robot that walks on two legs.
Then, during his graduate studies, he created something really cool—the world’s first low-cost electric robot that walks on four legs called XDog in 2015. This great invention helped him start Unitree Robotics, which is now a top company in robots.
Now, Unitree’s robots are used in many areas like entertainment. They’ve even been on big events like the CCTV Spring Festival Gala.
From Wang’s story, as we can see, focus on what you’re good at, and you will turn the hobby into a successful job.重慶二外初 2025 級九年級下期

①Cloisonne, or jingtailan in Chinese, is a special way of creating designs on metal. Lan means “blue” in Chinese, and jingtailan pieces often have a beautiful dark blue as the main color.
② Usually, making cloisonne needs many steps — creating a metal base, using metal strips (線) to create a design, filling the spaces with colored powders (粉末), and then firing. Each step needs cloisonne makers to be very careful and creative.
③Cloisonne appeared in China in the late 13th century. It became popular during the time of Emperor Jingtai in the Ming Dynasty. This gave its name of Jingtailan. In 2006, cloisonne making was added to China’s national intangible cultural heritage (非物質文化遺產) list.
④ Here is a story about two cloisonne masters. Several years ago, Li Jinglong and Guan Dian visited the Palace Museum in Beijing. There, they fell in love with cloisonne handcrafts (手工藝品). After that, they decided to open a workshop to let more people know about Chinese-style cloisonne. This led them to start Handcraft Addicted. People can make their own cloisonne pieces there. Since 2018, they have opened three workshops in Beijing.
⑤The whole process of making cloisonne is very hard, but Li and Guan made it easier. People only need to bend (彎) thin metal wires (金屬絲) into shapes they like and use colored powders to fill the spaces.
⑥Chang Yungi has been going to Handcraft Addicted in her free time for about five years. “The thin metal wires look like the pencil lines I draw on canvas (畫布). It was challenging but also interesting,” she said.
⑦Li and Guan enjoy teaching people how to make traditional cloisonne. “We have many guests like Chang who come to our workshop weekly, not only to create art but also to get away from their busy lives,” said Li.
⑧As more and more people learn about this ancient craft, Jingtailan has been a symbol of Chinese cultural heritage. Jingtailan workshops and shows held around the world serve as a bridge, connecting people from different countries.
52. What does the writer think of the cloisonne makers
A. Colorful and thankful. B. Easy but busy.
C. Creative and careful. D. Challenging but interesting.
53. What does the underlined word “they” refer to
A. Li Jinglong and Guan Dian. B. Chinese-style cloisonne pieces.
C. The masters from the Palace Museum. D. The people making cloisonne pieces. 54. How do Li Jinglong and Guan Dian tell they like teaching people to make cloisonne
A. By telling a story about Chang Yungi in their workshop.
B. By showing the steps how to make cloisonne handcrafts.
C. By giving an example of a guest’s coming to the workshop. D. By describing what the guests in the workshop look like.
55. Which of the following shows the structure of this passage

When you picture a day of hiking with children, you probably imagine a magical place. But the truth is that hiking with children is not always all sunshine and roses. So start by knowing your child’s hiking limits (極限) to make sure of a successful and enjoyable hike that they’ll remember.
Start small. Hiking is fun but it can be hard work for small bodies. Just as you wouldn’t run a marathon without training, you can’t expect your child to hike a long trail (路徑) the first time out. Start your kids hiking with a small nature trail, then each trip adds a little more distance.
Be flexible (可變通的). There is no rule that you MUST get to that waterfall. When hiking with kids, it’s about the journey, not the end. As adults, we easily become end-driven hikers, and that’s exactly what can make the hike less enjoyable for your child, who wants to explore and take their time.
Choose a kid-friendly destination (目的地). Your children might enjoy climbing over big stones more than sitting to admire a calm lake. Or running in a big open field might be more interesting than staring at a distant mountain when hiking with kids. Kid-friendly hikes will encourage more future hiking from your children.
▲ . Set a family goal with a reward for miles hiked over a period of time. You can make it over a vacation, or over the whole summer. Your hiking kids should help set the goal and then update the chart after each hike. Children love seeing their progress in full color.
One of the greatest gifts a parent can give their child is love and respect for nature. Those early hikes you take as a family set the stage for a lifetime of exploration and joy. So get out and start hiking with children as early as possible. And know it’s never too late!
56. Who is the passage probably written to
A. Children. B. Parents. C. Students. D. Teachers.
57. What’s the purpose of writing Paragraph 1
A. To provide the background. B. To lead into the subject.
C. To compare differences. D. To give good examples. 58. Which sentence can be put in the ▲
A. Make a shopping list to record what you’ll buy.
B. Ask your hiking kids to help others in need on the way. C. Make a chart at home to record your hiking miles.
D. Ask your hiking kids to color the map of hiking places.
59. What can we learn from the last paragraph
A. How to make the hiking successful and enjoyable. B. When to get out and start hiking with children.
C. Where to go and explore with hiking children. D. What to give children while a family’s hiking.

In today’s busy world, finding time to plan meals and sticking to the plan can feel like an impossible task. Whether you’re a parent trying to feed your family, a student managing pocket money or someone looking to save money while eating well, shopping list hack (黑客) will change the way you shop.
What’s the secret Using ChatGPT to create a personalized shopping list fits your store, budget(預算), and food needs. It’s quick and works great.
Start by choosing the shopping store you’ll shop at such as Yonghui Supermarket, Walmart, Sam’s Club, and setting a buying plan that works for you. For this example, let’s say you’re shopping at Sam’s Club with 100 yuan to feed two people three meals a day for two weeks. You will type, “Make me a shopping list for Sam’s Club with
100 yuan to feed two people three meals a day for two weeks.”ChatGPT will generate ( 生成) a detailed list of different kinds of ingredients which you can afford and even suggest meal ideas. For example, your list might include staples (主食) like rice, chicken, vegetables, and kitchen necessities.
One of the best parts of this hack is that ChatGPT doesn’t just generate a list—it also provides a complete meal plan! By studying your plan and food requirements, it suggests practical and delicious meal ideas for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This means you’ll always know what to cook and how to use the ingredients efficiently (有效地), saving you from the scary “What’s for dinner ”
Why does this Hack Works

▲ : If you choose cheap ingredients, you can save more money and still have different kinds of food those are good for your health.
▲ : With planned meals, everything on your list has a purpose, meaning less food goes into the garbage. Try it out for your next grocery (食品雜貨店) run and see how easy and effective it is!

During this year’s Two Sessions( 兩 會 ), the term “weight management” caught a lot of attention. That’s because the government has carried out a three-year action program called “Weight Management Year” . This program aims to help people understand the importance of controlling the weight to promote( 促進) a healthy lifestyle.
Many children and adults have been fighting against obesity(肥胖). According to the report from the National Health Commission, over half of the adults and about 20% of school-aged children in China are overweight. Obesity not only affects appearance but also causes serious health problems. What’s worse, obesity can even bring people psychological problems( 心理 問題), such as depression( 抑郁) and anxiety. So, weight management has become an important part of many people’s lives.
The program includes activities like sports events, healthy eating workshops, and fun challenges. As we all know, the obesity has become a serious problem among teenagers. There is no doubt that both schools and parents play an important role in the weight management. For example, schools can organize different kinds of sports activities during the breaks at school, while parents can encourage the children to do exercise and eat healthily after school. Of course, students are supposed to be responsible for their own weight and health as well. By working together, we can create a healthier young generation.
The government believes that by promoting a healthy lifestyle, we can reduce chronic diseases(慢性病) like high blood pressure, diabetes(糖尿病), and heart problems. The “Weight Management Year” does not mean forcing everyone to lose weight. Instead, it focuses on the scientific management of weight to further improve the overall health of nation. Confucius(551—479 BC) was a great thinker and teacher in the Spring and Autumn Period of China. He was born in Qufu, the capital of the state of Lu (part of Shandong). He acted as an official(官員) there. But he was
perhaps a better thinker than he was an official and he ended up having to
leave the state of Lu. He spent 13 years travelling around the other states,
spreading his ideas. And he tried to teach people that peace was very
important for a healthy society. However, it was not until the rule of Emperor Wu of Han Dynasty(156-87 BC) that his ideas were finally put into practice. In his last few years, he returned to Qufu where he spent the rest of his life
teaching. His teachings were recorded by his followers in a book called Lunyu.
Confucius ’ teachings formed the base of Chinese thought. Confucius
thought everyone should develop virtues(美德) and always do the right thing. Confucius ’ thought is considered to have been the necessity of Eastern thought. Here’s one of Confucius ’ famous sayings,“In the company oftwo
others, I can always find one worthy of being my teacher” ,which has been popular at home and abroad for thousands of years.
To help people understand how to behave towards others, he taught five virtues accepted by all Chinese. They are ren(kindness, charity), yi (fairness), li(ceremony, tradition), zhi(knowledge), and xin(trust). Another virtue is
xiao. Xiao is the duties a person has to their parents.
It is clear that Confucius ’ thought will continue to be a necessary part of Chinese culture. And it will continue to do something good to the development of China and even the whole world.

My Effective Learning Methods
Our school carried out a survey among 1,200 students on the topic of"My Effective Learning Methods". Here are the results.
30% of the students find making study plans the most helpful while 20% think learning by doing group work seems to be the most effective.
As for me, I prefer to learn by working with a group. I used to be a shy person. As a result, I was afraid to speak in front of my classmates and I made few friends. Things changed since I began to learn by working with a group. I joined an English group and made many friends there. We always encouraged and helped each other. With their support,I became outgoing and confident.
As the saying goes, two heads are better than one. Learning by working with a group works well not only in improving my English but also in making me more confident.
