Unit 4 Amazing Plants and Animals形容詞和副詞最高級
一、定義：形容詞和副詞的最高級用于比較三個或三個以上的人或事物，表明在某方面
“最……”的性質、特征或動作程度。通過最高級，我們能夠明確指出在多個對象中處于最突出
地位的那一個，使信息表達更加精確和具體 。比如，“The blue whale is the largest and the
heaviest animal in the world.”（藍鯨是世界上最大且最重的動物。）這句話中，“the largest”
（最大的）和 “the heaviest”（最重的）就是最高級形式，清晰地表明了藍鯨在動物中體型方
面的最突出特點。
二、形容詞、副詞最高級的構成：
規則變化：
（一）一般情況下，直接在形容詞或副詞后 + est。
如：“tall”（高的）變為 “tallest”（最高的） ；
“fast”（快地）變為 “fastest”（最快地）。
（二）以不發音的 -e 結尾的單詞，直接 + st。
如：“nice”（好的）變為 “nicest”（最好的）；
“late”（晚的）變為 “latest”（最晚的）。
（三）以 “輔音字母 + y” 結尾的單詞，變 y 為 i，再 + est。
如：“happy”（開心的）變為 “happiest”（最開心的）；
“early”（早地）變為 “earliest”（最早地）。
（四）末尾只有一個輔音字母的重讀閉音節單詞，雙寫該輔音字母，再 + est。
如：“big”（大的）變為 “biggest”（最大的）；
“hot”（熱的）變為 “hottest”（最熱的）。
（五）部分雙音節和多音節單詞，在單詞前 + most。
如：“beautiful”（美麗的）變為 “most beautiful”（最美麗的）；
“carefully”（仔細地）變為 “most carefully”（最仔細地）。

不規則變化：有一些形容詞和副詞的最高級變化是不規則的，需要特殊記憶。
如：“good /well”（好的 / 好地）的最高級是 “best”（最好的 / 最好地）。
“bad /badly”（壞的 / 壞地）的最高級是 “worst”（最壞的 / 最壞地）。
“many /much”（許多）的最高級是 “most”（最多的）。
“little”（少的）的最高級是 “least”（最少的）。
“far”（遠的）的最高級有 “farthest”（最遠的，側重于距離）和 “furthest”
（最遠的，可指距離、程度等）。
“old” 的最高級有 “oldest”（最年長的，指年齡大小）和 “eldest”（最年長的，
常用于表示家庭成員間的長幼順序）。
三、形容詞、副詞最高級的用法：
（一）三者或三者以上之間的比較
基本結構為：主語 + be 動詞 + the + 形容詞最高級 + 表示范圍的短語或從句；主
語 + 實義動詞 + （the） + 副詞最高級 + 表示范圍的短語或從句。
如：“The cheetah runs the fastest among all land animals.”
（獵豹在所有陸地動物中跑得最快。）；
“I think the most useful plant in the world is bamboo.”
（我認為世界上最有用的植物是竹子。）
（二）在三者或三者以上中選擇
結構為：which/who is + the + 最高級，A, B or C
如：“Which is the most beautiful, the rose, the peony, or the lotus flower ”
（玫瑰、牡丹和蓮花，哪一種最美麗？）
（三）最…… 之一
結構為：one of the +形容詞最高級 +可數名詞復數。
如：“Ginkgo trees are one of the oldest living trees on earth.”（銀杏樹是地

球上現存最古老的樹木之一。）
（四）修飾最高級
為了更準確地表達最高程度，可以用一些詞或短語來修飾最高級。常見的有 “by
far”（最……；顯然） ，“nearly”（幾乎），“almost”（幾乎）等。
如：“This is by far the best movie I've ever seen.”
（這顯然是我看過的最好的電影。）
（五）同級比較（與最高級相關的特殊情況）
在表達 “第二、第三…… 最……” 時，結構為：the + 序數詞 + 最高級。
如：“The Amazon River is the second longest river in the world.”
（亞馬遜河是世界上第二長的河流。）
四、使用最高級時的注意事項：
（一）使用最高級時，一定要有表示比較范圍的短語或從句，如 “in...”（在…… 范圍內），
“among...”（在…… 之中）等 。
如：“He is the tallest in his class.”
（他在他的班級里是最高的。）這里 “in his class” 明確了比較的范圍。
（二）形容詞最高級前一般要加定冠詞 “the”，但當最高級前有物主代詞、指示代詞、名
詞所有格等限定詞時，不加 “the” 。
如：“This is my best friend.”（這是我最好的朋友。）
（三）副詞最高級前的 “the” 可以省略 。
如：“He runs (the) fastest in our school.”（他在我們學校跑得最快。）

I think the most amazing animal is the octopus. It has a very strange appearance. It has eight long and
flexible tentacles, which look like long ropes. These tentacles are very useful. They can be used to catch food
and protect itself.
Octopuses live in the ocean. They are good at changing their colors. When they sense danger or want to
hunt, they can quickly change their body colors to blend in with the surroundings. This ability helps them
avoid being found by predators and catch prey more easily.
Octopuses are also very smart. They can solve simple problems. For example, they can figure out how to
open a jar to get the food inside. Their unique appearance, special skills, and intelligence make them the most
amazing animals in my eyes.
