A skywell, or “tian jing”, is a typical feature of a traditional home in southern and eastern China, which can date back to Ming and Qing dynasties. A skywell is always in the center of a house. It is enclosed by rooms on four sides or three sides plus a wall. It acts as a transitional space between indoor life and the outdoor environment.
Skywells were designed to cool buildings. When wind blows above a skywell house, it can enter the indoor space through the opening. As the cool outdoor air travels down the walls to the lower storeys, it replaces warmer indoor air, enabling the bottom of the skywell to stay cool. Even when there is no natural wind, air circulation still takes place, because the temperature is different between the top and bottom of the skywell. Moreover, another part of the cooling effect comes from the evaporation of water. People let rainwater into their skywells, and when the water evaporates, it cools hot air.
Although ancient “green wisdom” like skywells has not won more attention of modern Chinese people, there are some challenges for bringing skywells into modern designs. For one thing, traditional skywells highly depend on their local conditions, like how much sunlight or rainfall in the area, so adding skywells into modern buildings requires designers to fully consider their project’s situations. Meanwhile, lighting, air conditioning and water supply have become so convenient that we depend on them with little care about the environmental cost. So it won’t be easy to be green by learning from the past without considering our present behaviors.
21.Where is this passage probably from
A.A science journal.B.A geography magazine.C.A fashion book. D.A historical novel.
22.What do we know about skywells

23.How do skywells help to cool the rooms
① They allow the cool outdoor wind to enter the indoor space.
② The air conditioners help to lower the temperature.
③ By collecting rain drops.
④ By using the water evaporation.
A.①③ B.②③ C.①④ D.②④
24.What does the writer think of the traditional skywells
A.Convenient. B.Cheap. C.Green. D.Fashionable.

When thoughts become too much
If you lie awake at night, thinking over a decision you made earlier that day or worrying about tomorrow’s to-do list, you might be overthinking. 26 It also means thinking about the things beyond their actual value.
27 According to scientists, overthinking comes from an old habit of thinking from ancient times. Our brains always look out for dangers, planning how to deal with them to keep us safe.
Some people believe that overthinking may help us think about a problem carefully and get ready for what might happen. 28 Thinking the worst can lead to misunderstandings with other people. What’s more, it may also cause stress and anxiety.
So, why not do something else instead of sitting and thinking about a problem endlessly Your brain might find better ways to solve the problem while you are doing something fun. 29
Besides, you can challenge these thoughts when you find yourself overthinking. 30 It can be difficult at first, but learning to find yourself overthinking can help you change negative thoughts into more positive ones.
Thinking is a two-way street. We can have many different thoughts. But in the end, it’s up to us to decide if we accept them.
A.Why do people overthink
B.Focus on things outside of your control.
C.However, overthinking can hurt relationships.
D.Ask yourself if they make sense and think about other possibilities.
E.For example, you can try gardening, jogging, and chatting with your friends.
F.Overthinking means going over the same thought again and again negatively.

根據“Huangshan City, with a long history of drinking tea, is …birthplace of several famous teas such as Huangshan Maofeng, Taiping Houkui and Keemun black tea.” the birthplace of …… 故填the。
根據“She mixes the tea, including ice cubes, fresh fruits, herbal medicines,… rice wine with bar tools.” 故填and。
根據題意可知,It is+形容詞+for sb.+to do sth. 故填to have。
故填more pleasant。
故填are attracted。
故填In。

Last week, our class held a heated debate on whether to protect the traditional skill of cormorant fishing. Our classmates have different opinions on this topic.
Some supporters argue that cormorant fishing is a part of our cultural heritage. If we don’t protect it, we will lose a piece of our history. In addition, cormorant fishing, with its unique charm, can attract lots of tourists, thereby promoting the development of the local economy.
On the other hand, opponents worry about the living condition of the birds, suggesting that it may be cruel to use them in this way. Besides, they think that cormorant fishing is outdated. It is less efficient than modern fishing.
In my opinion, conserving the traditions and developing modern technology are both important. Therefore, we must find a way to protect our cultural heritage while considering the welfare of animals and modern efficiency.
