In a few hours Sam would fly to Germany. We looked at each other but no sound broke the
silence (寂靜) of our beach-side house.
Such a moment (時刻) was not the first time for us. I hardly found a quiet moment to tell him
what he meant to me, or what he might face in the future.
Sam was weak when he was born (出生) but grew into a strong boy. Then he became the best
baseball player in high school. I was sorry he gave up his sports talent, but proud that later he chose
English literature (文學). One day, I told Sam I regretted (后悔) never traveling to other countries
to know better about the world before working. Sam decided to learn German in Berlin, even
though his friends thought it meaningless.
What does it matter if a father never tells a son what he really thinks of him But when I stood
before Sam, I knew it did matter. My father and I loved each other. However, I always regretted
never hearing him put his feelings into words.
“Sam, if I could pick, I would pick you.” I said, and that was all I could say. I wasn’t sure if he
understood what I meant. Sam came over to me and threw his arms around me, saying “Thank
you.” My eyes misted over (模糊). Then, the moment ended, and Sam left home.
Thousands of miles away Sam might be busy walking in the street of Berlin.
What I said to Sam was clumsy (笨拙的) and not new. It was nothing. But, it was everything.

Fights at school sometimes happen. But how can you keep away from a fight Here’s something
you can do.
Be calm. Sometimes, you feel so angry that you really want to teach somebody a lesson. But
being angry can’t solve the problems. A fight can’t help, either. It may bring more problems. In the
school, everyone will be punished (懲罰), if he gets into a fight. There are no winner in a fight.
Shout loudly. If you know someone is coming up behind you to attack (襲擊), turn towards the
person with your hands up in front of your body and loudly say “stop” before walking away. Loud
voice can usually make the attacker calm down. If the person doesn’t stop, shout for help by calling
out the name of a teacher whose office is not far away.
Learn to say no. Your friend may ask you to join in a fight, but helping him fight is not really
helpful to him. If you really want to help him, try to ask him to give it up. Also, he may get hurt and
be punished. Then try to learn why he wants a fight and help him find a right way to solve the
problem.
56.If you really want to solve problems, what should you do
A.Feel angry. B.Keep calm. C.Have a fight. D.Shout loudly.

59.What is the best title (題目) for the passage
A.Students should work hard B.Help each other in a fight
C.Keep calm during a fight D.How to keep away from a fight

There’s a new AI bot (自動程序): Chat GPT, and you’d better pay attention, even if you aren’t
into artificial intelligence (人工智能) The tool is an AI chatbot system that Open AI made it public
in November 2022 to show off and test what a very large and strong AI system can do.
Chat GPT remembers your conversation, using last questions and answers to make its next
answers. It makes its answers from plenty of information on the Internet. Chat GPT is built on top
of the Open AI GPT-3 family of large language models.
You can ask Chat GPT anything, like explaining physics, asking for birthday party ideas and
getting programming help. Perhaps it’s not smart enough to take the place of all humans yet, but it
can be creative, and its answers can sound right. A few days after its launch (發(fā)布), more than 1
million people were trying out Chat GPT. UBS worker Lloyd Walmsley estimated in February 2023
that Chat GPT reached 100 million monthly users in January.
Chat GPT is free to use at the moment because it is still in its research period. But when too
many people use the server, it overloads and can’t give your answer. It just means you should try
visiting the site at a later time when fewer people are trying to use it. If you want to skip (跳過) the
wait and enter the site quickly, there is a choice for you. As of Feb. 1, 2023, Open AI has a Chat
GPT pro plan, Chat GPT Plus, which allows users to have priority access (優(yōu)先進入) even when
lots of people are using it. This service does come at a cost of $20/month.
However, Chat GPT cannot replace Google. Chat GPT is an artificial intelligence bot that
provides solutions to your questions, but Google is a search engine in which you can search for as
much information as possible. Chat GPT has limited (有限的) knowledge because of its
programming but Google has unlimited knowledge which adds the most recent news every day.
60.What does paragraph 2 mainly tell us about Chat GPT
A.It mainly tells us its language model.
B.It mainly tells us how it works.
C.It mainly tells us its design background.
D.It mainly tells us its latest development.
61.What is true about Chat GPT pro plan
A.It guides users to experience free services and get the best answers.
B.It allows net surfers to skip advertisements which takes a few second.
C.It can help workers check the failure of the system in a quick way.
D.People who paid $20/month can use the Chat GPT without waiting.
62.The meaning of the underlined word replace is _________.
A.覆蓋 B.影響 C.代替 D.競爭
63.According to the passage, we can infer(推斷) that _________.
A.the answers given by Chat GPT are right all the time.
B.Chat GPT can take the place of Google.
C.there is no need for people to pay for the Chat GPT.

My Favorite Chinese Traditional Story
There are many traditional stories in China. Among all of the stories, I like YuGong moves
the mountains best.
Once upon a time, there was an old man called Yu Gong. There were two high mountains
near his home. They were so high that it took him a long time to walk to the other side, so he
decided to move the mountains. Yu Gong and his family began to move the mountains. They
kept moving them day after day, year after year. Finally, a god was so moved that he sent two
gods to take the mountains away.
The story reminds us that nothing is impossible as long as we work hard. We should not give
up.

It was raining heavily while Tina was walking to school that Friday morning. Just while Tina
was crossing the road near Central Bank, a taxi came around the corner. Suddenly it hit a tree.
Tina ran to the taxi to help at once. The driver’s head was badly hurt and there was a lot of blood
on his face. A boy was crying for help and it seemed his arm was badly hurt. His mother’s right
leg was badly hurt. While Tina was taking care of them, a young woman called 120. Two
policemen soon arrived to control the traffic. About twenty minutes later, the doctor came. The
driver and the passengers were sent to the hospital. When Tina got to school, it was already 8:50.
She was late for half an hour. But after she told her teacher Mr. Zhang what happened, he let her
in and said she was such a great girl.

I have two good friends, Ann and Jane. They both meet a problem at school these days. There
are a lot of nice boys in Ann’s class. But she feels uncomfortable when they are around her. And

exams, but every time she doesn’t. She is sad and worried. She doesn’t want to study English any
