  I was about to run away when my teacher came up to me. He joked that I had fallen because I was eager to bow to the audience. His humor helped me deal with my embarrassment.Then he invited the audience to clap. Feeling less nervous, I took the microphone and cleared my throat before reading the title. Surprisingly, my voice sounded clear and loud. The hall was silent. I continued reading, with words coming out in the right order and lines flowing together appropriately.
  When I had finished my reading, the hall was silent at first. With sweat running down my forehead, I bit my lip nervously.
