(說(shuō)明:文中加藍(lán)詞匯為本單元主題詞匯)
(2023·新高考Ⅰ卷·閱讀理解C篇)The goal of this book is to make the case for digital minimalism, including a detailed exploration of what it asks and why it works, and then to teach you how to adopt this philosophy if you decide it's right for you.
To do so,I divided the book into two parts. In part one, I describe the philosophical foundations of digital minimalism, starting with an examination of the forces that are making so many people's digital lives increasingly intolerable, before moving on to a detailed discussion of the digital minimalism philosophy.
Part one concludes by introducing my suggested method for adopting this philosophy:the digital declutter. This process requires you to step away from optional online activities for thirty days. At the end of the thirty days, you will then add back a small number of carefully chosen online activities that you believe will provide massive benefits to the things you value.
In the final chapter of part one, I'll guide you through carrying out your own digital declutter. In doing so, I'll draw on an experiment I ran in 2018 in which over 1,600 people agreed to perform a digital declutter. You'll hear these participants' stories and learn what strategies worked well for them, and what traps they encountered that you should avoid.
The second part of this book takes a closer look at some ideas that will help you cultivate (培養(yǎng)) a sustainable digital minimalism lifestyle. In these chapters, I examine issues such as the importance of solitude (獨(dú)處) and the necessity of cultivating high-quality leisure to replace the time most now spend on mindless device use. Each chapter concludes with a collection of practices, which are designed to help you act on the big ideas of the chapter. You can view these practices as a toolbox meant to aid your efforts to build a minimalist lifestyle that works for your particular circumstances.

(2025·滄州模擬) At Countryside High School in Clearwater, Florida, 16-year-old Sage Waite is already taking a class in cybersecurity, and she'd welcome one that's in the works on cyber disinformation.
“For the longest time, I didn't actually know what disinformation was,” said Waite, who's in the 11th grade.“There was always the idea that things could be wrong in what you're hearing and what you're being told. But the idea of misinformation and disinformation wasn't in my day-to-day.” This past year, she says, has been an eye-opener.“My friends and I definitely started looking into stuff more and doing more research after that,” she said.
A new program on “digital literacy”, with a focus on topics like disinformation, is in the pipeline, thanks in part to Mike McConnell, who is now working to fight false information aimed at young people.“We need to understand this so we can appreciate what's happening to us, and be able to not only understand it, but also to navigate through it,” McConnell said.“That's what I call digital literacy.”
McConnell is executive director of Cyber Florida, which is based at the University of South Florida in Tampa. The group works with kids throughout the state at universities, high schools, and even those in younger grades.Cyber Florida helped set up the cybersecurity program now being taught at many Florida schools. The new project, Cyber Citizenship, is even more ambitious.“We think if we can do this for Florida, we can spread it across the nation,” he said.
The expanded program now in the works aims to make digital literacy something all Florida students get, at several grade levels, before they finish high school.
There's no date yet for the cyber disinformation classes in Florida, but computer teacher Jason Felt says it can't come soon enough and he is ready to embrace it.
“The Internet is a wonderful tool. It's connected us in a way that's never really been seen before. But it's a blessing and it's also a curse.”
Teaching students the difference, he says, is a huge challenge.

(2025·湖北名校聯(lián)考)Adults check their phones, on average, 360 times a day, and spend almost three hours a day on their devices in total. The problem for many of us is that one quick phone-related task leads to a quick check of our emails or social media feeds, and suddenly we've been sucked into endless scrolling.
It's an awful circle. The more useful our phones become, the more we use them. The more we use them, the more we lay neural (神經(jīng)的) pathways in our brains that lead to picking up our phones for whatever task is at hand — and the more we feel an urge to check our phones even when we don't have to.
What we do know is that the simple distraction of checking a phone or seeing a notification (通知) can have negative consequences. This isn't very surprising; we know that, in general, multitasking does harm to memory and performance. One of the most dangerous examples is phone use while driving. One study found that merely speaking on the phone, not texting, was enough to make drivers slower to react on the road. It's true for everyday tasks that are less high-risk, too.Simply hearing a notification “ding” made participants
of another study perform far worse on a task — almost as badly as participants who were speaking or texting on the phone during the task.
It isn't just the use of a phone that has consequences — its mere presence can affect the way we think.
In one recent study, for example, researchers asked participants to either put their phones next to them so they were visible (like on a desk), nearby and out of sight (like in a bag or pocket), or in another room. They were found to perform far better when their phones were in another room instead of nearby — whether visible, powered on or not.
語(yǔ)篇解讀:本文是一篇說(shuō)明文。文章主要介紹了成年人頻繁使用手機(jī)的現(xiàn)象,以及人們頻繁查看手機(jī)的負(fù)面影響。

5.What is the frequency, on average, for phone users to check their phones
A.Once every 3 minutes.
B.Once every 4 minutes.
C.Once every 5 minutes.
D.Once every 6 minutes.
解析:細(xì)節(jié)理解題。根據(jù)第一段第一句可知,成年人平均每天查看手機(jī)360次,再結(jié)合每天24小時(shí),1 440分鐘,故可推知他們平均每4分鐘查看1次手機(jī)。

6.What causes phone users' endless scrolling
A.The curiosity for friends' latest behaviors.
B.The responsibility for the online safety.
C.The desire for emails or social media information.
D.The information for ensuring personal development.
解析:細(xì)節(jié)理解題。根據(jù)第一段第二句可知,需要瀏覽我們的電子郵件或社交媒體動(dòng)態(tài)導(dǎo)致我們查看手機(jī)。
7.What can we infer from paragraph 3
A.Simple distraction results in car accidents.
B.Multitasking does no harm to intelligence.
C.A notification “ding” can disturb our work.
D.Answering a phone scarcely affects the driver.
解析:推理判斷題。根據(jù)第三段最后一句可知,“叮”的聲音可以擾亂我們的工作。

8.Why is an experiment conducted in the last paragraph
A.To clarify multitasking does harm to memory and performance.
B.To draw a conclusion that we shouldn't use phones much.
C.To prove that it's dangerous to check phones while driving.
D.To demonstrate the presence of a phone impacts our thinking.
解析:推理判斷題。根據(jù)倒數(shù)第二段以及最后一段可知,這個(gè)實(shí)驗(yàn)是為了論證僅僅手機(jī)的存在就會(huì)影響我們的思維。

(2025·泰安模擬)Having thousands of photos, songs and films available at our fingertips would have seemed amazing just a few decades ago, but how long will these files last for and be available Could the digital data now put a time limit on our memories 9
The materials that phones and computers are made of can decay (腐蝕) over time. 10 When digital data degrades, it can quickly make it impossible to open a file. Also, as formats and devices become out of date, it may become impossible to read files from previous decades.
精品課件·名師析題
11 Large companies can still lose data.In 2019, social media platform MySpace admitted losing more than 12 years' worth of users' music uploads. The widespread use of streaming services for music, TV and film means that people no longer own the content that they watch and listen to; they just pay for the right to access it.If streaming companies decide to remove content, or go out of business, users will lose access.
Licensing rather than buying content is an example of how our behaviour towards digital content has changed. 12 This means that, in addition to the challenge of keeping our data safe, people have to consider what to preserve and what can be thrown away.
So, what can we do Technology writer Jack Schofield said that “data doesn't really exist unless you have at least two copies of it”. 13 Probably more than one.Academic Paul Royster suggests that we should all take time to consider what content we personally believe is worth saving.Perhaps the answer is just to avoid digital altogether.
A.It's necessary to store memories now.
B.Digital memories might not last forever.
C.Thus, this will impact the data they store.
D.So it's important to back up what is important to us.
E.Storing information in the cloud can also present problems.
F.However, the quality of the data they store will remain unchanged.
G.Another example is that we take far more pictures than people did in the past.

Dear Chris,
I'm terribly sorry to hear that you want to save money secretly to buy a smartphone for gaming, which is not a good idea in the long run. It's important for you to prioritize your needs and make wise decisions.
First and foremost, you could save money for something that can contribute to your personal development, such as educational materials or a hobby that can provide valuable skills. Moreover, you are supposed to engage more in outdoor activities, sports, or joining clubs than playing mobile games. Not only can they provide enjoyment and help you develop new skills, but also they are great ways to expand your social circle.
Only in this way can you find a balance between leisure activities and your responsibilities.Looking forward to your early reply.
Yours,

精品課件·名師析題
German. She was clearly lost and trying to walk to the house where she lived. She showed me screen shots of maps on her phone as if she wanted me to help her find her way home. Actually, I learned some German in my spare time because our school will have German classes the next term. However, I was so poor at it that it was almost useless in practice.
[2] I studied nearby and I knew my classmate, Lisa, who was good at speaking German. So I decided to telephone her. “Hi, Lisa. I came across a German lady. Do you have time to come and act as a translator now?” I said and then sent her my location. Unfortunately, Lisa answered, “Sorry, Belle, I'm shopping now. I can reach your place in about half an hour.” Hearing that, I had to tell her that I could manage myself.
[3] Suddenly, an idea flashed through my mind. I downloaded a translation app and used the voice function to translate what the lady said into English. Just in this way, I learned that she came here to visit her daughter who was new to the city to teach. And I also determined the address she needed to get to. It was not far from here to her house, so I offered to walk with her to her destination. She was greatly grateful to me and kept saying sorry for taking up my time.
[4] When we got to the house, her daughter just came back. Florence, the name she told me, was as touched by my kindness as her mother. I kept reminding her that it was no trouble for me, and that I only intended to make sure her mother got there safely.
[5] Walking with the lady was more rewarding than running alone. Despite having to rely on technology to communicate due to the language barrier, I felt lucky to have been able to help her. When I left, I couldn't wait to share the wonderful experience with Lisa.
注意:1.續(xù)寫(xiě)詞數(shù)應(yīng)為150左右;
2.請(qǐng)按如下格式作答。
No sooner had I picked up my phone than Lisa called me.

Dear Chris,
I'm terribly sorry to hear that you want to save money secretly to buy a smartphone for gaming, which is not a good idea in the long run.
Yours,
Li Hua
[1] One morning this summer holiday, I was running on the road when I saw an elderly foreign lady waving her phone at me, speaking to me in a foreign language. Obviously, she didn't speak English at all. When I listened to her more carefully, I found she was speaking German.
注意:1.續(xù)寫(xiě)詞數(shù)應(yīng)為150左右;
2.請(qǐng)按如下格式作答。
No sooner had I picked up my phone than Lisa called me.

(2025·滄州模擬) At Countryside High School in Clearwater, Florida, 16 year old Sage Waite is already taking a class in cybersecurity, and she'd welcome one that's in the works on cyber disinformation.
“For the longest time, I didn't actually know what disinformation was,” said Waite, who's in the 11th grade.“There was always the idea that things could be wrong in what you're hearing and what you're being told. But the idea of misinformation and disinformation wasn't in my day to day.” This past year, she says, has been an eye opener.“My friends and I definitely started looking into stuff more and doing more research after that,” she said.

The problem for many of us is that one quick phone related task leads to a quick check of our emails or social media feeds, and suddenly we've been sucked into endless scrolling.
It's true for everyday tasks that are less high risk, too.Simply hearing a notification “ding” made participants of another study perform far worse on a task — almost as badly as participants who were speaking or texting on the phone during the task.
5.What is the frequency, on average, for phone users to check their phones
A.Once every 3 minutes.
B.Once every 4 minutes.
C.Once every 5 minutes.
D.Once every 6 minutes.
6.What causes phone users' endless scrolling
A.The curiosity for friends' latest behaviors.
B.The responsibility for the online safety.
C.The desire for emails or social media information.
D.The information for ensuring personal development.
7.What can we infer from paragraph 3
A.Simple distraction results in car accidents.
B.Multitasking does no harm to intelligence.
C.A notification “ding” can disturb our work.
D.Answering a phone scarcely affects the driver.

(2025·泰安模擬)Having thousands of photos, songs and films available at our fingertips would have seemed amazing just a few decades ago, but how long will these files last for and be available Could the digital data now put a time limit on our memories __9__
The materials that phones and computers are made of can decay (腐蝕) over time. __10__ When digital data degrades, it can quickly make it impossible to open a file. Also, as formats and devices become out of date, it may become impossible to read files from previous decades.
__11__ Large companies can still lose data.In 2019, social media platform MySpace admitted losing more than 12 years' worth of users' music uploads. The widespread use of streaming services for music, TV and film means that people no longer own the content that they watch and listen to; they just pay for the right to access it.If streaming companies decide to remove content, or go out of business, users will lose access.
Licensing rather than buying content is an example of how our behaviour towards digital content has changed.__12__ This means that, in addition to the challenge of keeping our data safe, people have to consider what to preserve and what can be thrown away.
So, what can we do Technology writer Jack Schofield said that “data doesn't really exist unless you have at least two copies of it”. __13__ Probably more than one.Academic Paul Royster suggests that we should all take time to consider what content we personally believe is worth saving.Perhaps the answer is just to avoid digital altogether.
