As China’s animated film Ne Zha 2 breaks box office records and receives critical praise, it has been revealed that the voice of its villain (反派) is China’s so-called coolest grandpa. Actor and model Wang Deshun, 89, who plays Wuliang Xianweng in the hit animated production, is seen by many as a perfect match for the character, who initially appears kind but is later revealed to be cruel and ambitious.
Born in Shenyang, in northeastern China’s Liaoning Province, Wang worked as a tram conductor and factory worker before becoming a theatre actor aged 24. A quarter of a century later, he felt his acting career had hit a bottleneck, so he resigned and moved to Beijing with his wife and two children. He began working out so he could achieve accurate bodily expressions on the stage. At 65, Wang learned how to ride a horse. In 2015, at the age of 79, Wang walked the runaway shirtless during China Fashion Week, wowing many people online. When he reached 80, he received training from his daughter and became an amateur DJ. At 85, he became China’s oldest person to receive a pilot’s licence.
Wang played roles in many classic Chinese films and TV dramas. Wang said it took him three days to dub (配音) the character Wuliang Xianweng in June 2022. The production team only provided the lines he needed to perform, and he dubbed the character without knowing any of the plot lines.
Despite being the voice for the villain in Ne Zha 2, Wang was seen by some to be the main character Ne Zha. The brave and resilient character refused to submit to his fate, fighting stereotypes and injustice in the two films. Likewise, in real life, Wang has refused to be bound by social norms. “I do whatever I want to do. It is never too late,” he said.
4. Why is Wang Deshun called “China’s coolest grandpa”
A. Because he played the villain in Ne Zha 2 in an outstanding way.
B. Because he kept challenging himself through various achievements.
C. Because he walked the runaway shirtless during China Fashion Week.
D. Because he became China’s oldest person to receive a pilot’s license.
5. Which of the following can best describe Wang Deshun’s personality
A. Adventurous and special. B. Kind and stubborn.
C. Cautious and disciplined. D. Cruel and pitiless.
6. Why is Wang compared to the character Ne Zha
A. Both show their ambition to break rules. B. Both are known for playing villain roles.
C. Both determine to submit to social norms. D. Both refuse to accept various stereotypes.
7. What can be a suitable title for the text
A. Ne Zha 2: A Villain Voiced by an 89-Year-Old Actor
B. A Legendary Life: From a Tram Conductor to a Theatre Actor
C. Breaking Boundaries: The Unusual Journey of Wang Deshun
D. Behind the Scenes: The Voice Acting Journey of Ne Zha 2
The idea for China’s space program was put forward in 1956 by Qian Xuesen, a pioneer in Chinese rocket science. Following full preparation, the manned Shenzhou program began in 1992, and in 2003, the first Chinese astronaut, Yang Liwei, took adventure into space. In 2007, the lunar orbiter Chang’e-1 was launched, followed by the experimental manned space station Tiangong-1 in 2011.
In 2019, Chang’e-4 achieved a soft landing on the lunar far side, marking the first successful soft landing by humans in that area. A “soft” landing is one where the spacecraft lands in a controlled way, and gets no damage. Twelve hours later, the small Yutu-2 was let go. To understand why Chang’e-4’s soft landing was such an achievement, consider the difficulty of any space mission, especially one to the far side of the moon. While the far side of the moon is often called the dark side of the moon, it is not really dark.
The main challenge of landing on the moon’s far side is communication, as there is no direct line of sight to Earth, making radio communication with spacecraft there typically impossible. Chinese engineers designed a unique solution to this problem. Before Chang’e-4’s mission, they sent the Queqiao communications satellite into space. When engineers needed to communicate with Chang’e-4 and Yutu-2, they could send radio messages to Queqiao. The messages would then be sent from the satellite down to the Lander. This allowed for contact between Earth and the far side of the moon.
One of Chang’e-4’s experiments aimed to test a closed ecological (生態(tài)的) system, important for space missions. In this system, plants produce food and oxygen for fruit flies, while the fruit flies produce CO for the plants. This experiment worked for nine days, but it had to be stopped when the temperatures dropped below-52°C.
China’s space program has achieved significant milestones, from the manned Shenzhou program to the successful soft landing of Chang’e-4 on the lunar far side. These achievements reflect China’s growing progress in space exploration.
8. Why was the Chang’e-4’s soft landing on the lunar far side important
A. It found evidence of water on the moon.
B. It discovered a new type of rock formation.
C. It established an everlasting base for future missions.
D. It marked a significant milestone in China’s space exploration.
9. How did Chinese engineers solve the communication problem with Chang’e-4
A. They used a special radio wave.
B. They set up large equipment on the moon.
C. They used a network of ground-based stations.
D. They sent a communications satellite into space.
10. What challenge did the closed ecological system experiment face
A. Lack of sunlight. B. Equipment failure.
C. Extreme temperatures. D. Shortage of oxygen supply.
11. What is the author’s attitude to China’s achievements in space exploration
A. Positive. B. Indifferent. C. Unclear. D. Doubtful.
Smartphones means that you can read the news, check the weather, and keep in touch with families and friends on social media. Being connected comes with a lot of benefits. But smartphones are not always good when they cause less family conversations or less attention in class. In January 2024, Brazil signed a bill to ban (禁止) smartphone use in schools, joining the trend (趨勢) in the US and Europe. The law applies to public and private schools and isn't just limited to classrooms. Using smartphones in hallways is also not allowed.
The law follows a growing ban against smartphone use in all of Brazil's states' schools including Rio de Janeiro. Almost two-thirds of schools in Brazil introduced limitations and 28 percent had complete bans.
“Students were having trouble focusing,” a school's headmaster Meire Nocito said. “There was also the problem of social isolation (孤立). Many students who used technology too much would stay alone during breaks, only communicating through social media. Banning smartphone use has helped create a space for social interaction, developing relationships and teaching students to deal with disagreements and arguments, which are a normal part of human interactions. It has been very positive.”
Brazilians have one of the highest smartphone use rates in the world. There are actually more phones than people in this South American country with 258 million devices for 203 million people. Brazilians spend over nine hours a day on their phones. This is a hard habit to break.
Smartphones have been connected with physical and mental health issues.
Mariana Waetge, a 13-year-old student, uses her smartphone to talk with friends and family and to find entertainment on Instagram. Now that she is forced to put her phone away at school, she has found new ways to interact with friends. Brazil, along with France and China, is limiting smartphone use in schools. This measure will not only improve students' academic performance but also make their mental health better.
12. What is not allowed since 2024 if you are a Brazilian student
A. Chat with classmates at breaks.
B. Read online news outside classrooms.
C. Use a phone to check the weather at home.
D. Take photos with a smartphone in the park.
13. What does paragraph 3 mainly about
A. Measures to develop friendship.
B. Ways of keeping focused in class.
C. Reasons for banning smartphones.
D. Advantages of smartphones.
14. Which is correct according to the text
A. Brazilians use their phones for only 9 hours every day.
B. Each Brazilian owns a smartphone.
C. Brazilians have a high rate of phone use.
D. There are 258 million phones across South America.
15. What is the writer likely to talk about next
A. The ownership of smartphones in France and China.
B. Advantages of current social media.
C. Methods of balancing online entertainment and learning.
D. Positive influences of no-phone school on students.

On my twelfth birthday, I desired a shining new bicycle. However, considering our family’s financial struggle, I realized that such a bike was merely an impossible dream. Then, I decided to choose a nightstand (床頭柜). It seemed like a sensible choice, as it would provide me with a safe space to store my personal things. Therefore, I requested my parents for a nightstand equipped with lockable drawers.
We visited the second-hand furniture store and chanced upon an old nightstand in a dark brown color. Although its appearance wasn’t attractive, it had drawers that could be locked. I decided to repaint it in order to make it look better.
After bringing it home, I prepared to paint the nightstand. However, as I pulled out the drawers, I found something stuck to the back of the bottom drawer. Curious and eager, I reached deep into the back and was surprised to discover a bag.
Upon opening the bag, I discovered several official-looking papers within, under which there was a wad (沓) of dollar bills! Imagine my surprise when I found such a treasure, especially on my birthday! Eagerly, I read the papers, which turned out a will. A certain elderly woman was leaving her savings to her son and grandchildren. It must have been that after her passing no one knew of the money. Her family donated the nightstand to a second-hand furniture store, and now it has found its way into my hand.
I counted the money and found it totaled over 1,000 dollars. My heart was racing with excitement. With such a large amount, I could buy the coolest bicycle. I even had enough to buy bicycles for my younger brothers. Perhaps I could even surprise my parents with a car. What a dilemma! Should I keep the money and use it to buy all kinds of things for myself and my family Or should I return it all “Somebody helps me with this!” I begged. But I knew I didn’t truly need anyone to give me the answer. I had a clear sense of right and wrong. I decided not to fail this test. It was a test of my virtue.

1.續(xù)寫詞數(shù)應(yīng)為150 左右;

【答案】Good morning, everyone,
I’m Li Hua. I’m privileged to have the chance to share with you my view on the topic “Are we ready for double day-off ”
Since the double day-off policy was performed, senior high students have more free time, thus bringing about great changes. Some students can balance rest and study well in the two-day weekend, while for some less self-disciplined students, the two-day weekend certainly encourages idleness. Worst of all, having more leisure out of school, some may even be led astray.
As far as I’m concerned, students should spend the two-day weekend in a positive way. Besides necessary relaxation, we should make preparations for next week’s study. Only when we make the best of the double day-off can we be better prepared for upcoming challenges in study!

【答案】
I asked my family to come to my bedroom and showed them what I’d found. Eyes caught by the wad of dollar bills at once, they stood there, frozen with shock and open-mouthed. I told them of my intention to return the entire sum, and without hesitation, they all supported me. We then sought help from the owner of the second-hand furniture store. By looking through the donation records, we spotted the son’s telephone number. We immediately reached out to him, informed him of the will and the money, and made an appointment with him.
A few days later, the old lady’s son came to my house with his wife. Tears welled up in the man’s eyes when he saw the money and the papers, which brought back his memories about his mother. The couple expressed their gratitude to us, saying that they were in trouble and that my act of honesty came as a timely help, not only offering them a ray of hope but also strengthening their faith. No new bicycle could ever compare to the excitement I experienced on that day, as I had finally passed a significant test of virtue.
