Poyang Lake, China’s largest wintering area for migratory (遷徙的) birds, welcomes hundreds of thousands of seasonal visitors each year. Li Chunru, a 78-year-old man from Dongzili village in Jiangxi, China, has been taking care of injured birds there for over 40 years.
One stormy day in 1982, Li found many fallen bird nests with chicks (小鳥) struggling on the ground. He took about 500 injured (受傷的) chicks home. Li’s efforts to protect birds, however, have also left him with a few scars (傷疤) and stories. He was hurt by poachers (偷獵者) twice and bitten by a dangerous snake. He said he couldn’t remember how many times he had fallen over and hurt himself while walking around to save the birds. But Li never thought of giving up.

Lenses (鏡片) are useful tools that help us see things more clearly. They are widely used in our daily lives. They can help us read small words in books and take clear photos. They are also used to help people who have trouble seeing things clearly, like those who can’t see far away or those who can’t see things up close. There are many kinds of lenses, but today we will talk about convex and concave lenses.
Imagine you’re using a magnifying glass (放大鏡) to read small words in a book. What happens when you move the glass closer to the words The letters get bigger, right That’s the power of a convex lens. Convex lenses are thicker in the middle and thinner at the sides. When light passes through a convex lens, it is brought together at a single point called the focus. This is why magnifying glasses, camera lenses, and even the lenses for some old people use convex lenses to see more clearly.
Different from convex lenses, concave lenses are thinner in the middle and thicker at the sides. When light passes through concave lenses, it spreads out. You can find concave lenses in your daily life. For example, if you are nearsighted (近視的), your glasses probably have concave lenses. You are nearsighted because the light entering your eyes does not focus exactly on the retina (視網膜). When you wear glasses with concave lenses, the light spreads out first and then enters the eyes, allowing it to focus correctly on the retina. In this way, you can see things clearly.

Dear Peter,
How is everything going From your letter, I know you are interested in the charity sale in my school. Now I'm going to share it with you.
Last Saturday, my school held a love charity sale on the school playground. My classmates and I took part in it. Before the sale, we made posters and prepared a lot of goods for the sale, such as cards, toys and books. On that day, we put on shows to sell more goods. It was full of joy. Through our hard work, we sold out all the things. After that, we sent all the money we raised to Children's Home.
I've had much fun from the charity sale and realized that every small love could make a big difference.
I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

Dear schoolmates,
Recently, it's said that the use of textbooks has become a big waste. Our school has done a survey of recycling textbooks.
38% of the students think textbooks should not be recycled, because they want to take notes by themselves. Also, they are worried about public health. However, 62% of the students think textbooks should be recycled because recycling textbooks is a good way to save the forest. For another reason, it's good for us to learn from others' notes.
In my opinion, it is necessary to recycle textbooks. Recycling textbooks can not only save resources but also help us get into a good habit of saving money.
All small things can add up and become big things that can improve the environment. Let's take action to recycle textbooks together!
