There was an old oak tree（橡樹） in the garden. Holly’s father wanted to cut it down and
build a new office there. Holly felt sad and didn't agree. She moved into the tree house in the old
tree. It was her favourite place in the world.

Wendy, John and Michael fly through the sky with Peter Pan for many days. They enjoy

When watching sports games, we often notice players wearing earphones before the match.
They keep their eyes closed and gently nod along the beats (節拍). It seems that the music is giving
them power and cheering them up for the match. Is there any science behind such practices
New research shows that there is. Music makes us feel powerful, but not all songs have the
same effect (效果).
The research was led by Dennis Hsu at Northwestern University in the USA. His team had
people listen to 31 songs of different kinds. The listeners felt powerful after listening to some songs,
for example, Queen’s “We Will Rock You”.
Researchers also found that high - power music made people want to take control in social
activities and come first in matches. Great players know this idea well and many of them listen to
this kind of music before matches.
Why does music have magical power Hsu’s team explained: when people hear music that
gives out a sense of power, they mimic (模擬) these feelings in their mind. When choosing music,
we also need to look at the kind of music, according to researchers.
In the research by the Music in Exercise and Sport Group in London, it is found that if we
are warming up or cooling down after exercises, pop songs are the good choice. Dance music is best
for strength and weight training.
