These diverse options, cost-effectiveness and highly qualified teachers have made “night schools” popular once more. Young people at night schools can explore their interests and enrich their personal, spiritual, and cultural fulfillment.
“Night schools enable our generation to actively develop non-utilitarian (非功利的) interests,” said Xu Lili, a 27-year-old advertisement planner. She spent an entire weekend selecting night school institutions and courses through a popular lifestyle-sharing platform before attending classes. Finally, she chose a street dance club that was close to her workplace. She said the atmosphere was great. She has made many new friends there.
Night schools provide a break from work-related stress and allow individuals to explore their passion at minimal cost. The demand for such courses is clear. Zheng Lifu even turned his art training center into a night school in Fuzhou. Within a few days of posting course information on a platform, he received over 300 enquiries (詢問) and finally got more than 100 participants.
As night schools continue to grow in popularity, institutions are expanding their course offerings and recruiting qualified teachers to meet the increasing demand. This approach allows some students to explore entry-level courses while also providing advanced options for those seeking to further develop their skills.
Night schools not only support self-improvement in artistic, cultural and other aspects but also contribute to the development of new industries, benefiting both society and the economy.
