China is a nation of etiquette (禮儀). Chinese people are among the most hospitable (熱情
好客的) people in the world. If foreigners visit a Chinese family, they would be surprised at the
warmth that they would receive as guests.
When you visit a Chinese family, the host usually makes tea for you. Then he will serve
you snacks like biscuits or candy. Someone in the family will also chat with you, never letting you
feel lonely.
At the same time, other family members will prepare a meal for you. Chinese people treat
their guests with a big meal. They always present more food than the guest can eat. On the table,

a bicycle and break your arm, it happens very quickly. But computer injuries happen slowly.
Your eyes
Too much light can injure your eyes, so never sit too close to a computer screen. Your eyes
should be at least 50 centimeters from the screen. Remember to look away from it sometimes.
This gives your eyes a rest.
When you use a computer, the window should be on your left or your right. If it is behind
you, the light will reflect (反射) on the screen. If the windows are in front of you, the sun and the
screen will both shine into your eyes.
Your hands and wrists (手腕)
Hand and wrist injuries can happen because the hands and wrists are moved in the same
way hundreds of times. If you use a keyboard for a long time, follow these three rules: 1) Rest
your wrists on something. 2) Keep your elbows at the same height as the keyboard. 3) Stop
sometimes and exercise your hands, wrists and fingers in a different way.
Your back
Some people sit for many hours in front of a computer. If you sit in a wrong way, you can
injure your back or your neck. So you should sit with your back straight. The top part of the screen
should be in front of your eyes. Your forearms (前臂), wrists and hands should all be parallel to
(與……平衡) the floor. If you are sitting for a long time, get up every 30 minutes and exercise
your arms, legs and neck.
Enjoy your computer, but use it safely.

and healthy to eat. People can eat it with eggs or tofu. It is really very popular.
Another tradition is the Grain Rain Festival. Fishing villagers in the coastal areas of China
celebrate it. Grain Rain marks the start of the fishermen’s first voyage (航行) of the year. The
tradition dates back more than 2,000 years ago. At that time, people believed gods protected them
from the stormy seas, so they could have a good harvest. On this day, people would worship (祭拜)

It was a long and hot summer that year, and Anne enjoyed it with the whole heart. When it
was over, she went back and studied hard in Miss Stacy’s Queen’s class for that terrible thing
known as “the Entrance”. Anne grew so quickly that one day Marilla was surprised to find that the
girl was taller than herself. Another difference that she talked less.
“You don’t talk half as much as you were in the past, Anne. What has come over you ”
“I don’t know... I don’t want to talk as much,” Anne said, turning red. “It’s nicer to think
dear, pretty thoughts and keep them in one’s heart, like treasures.”
After months of studying, Anne went to town for the exams. When she returned to Green
Gables, three weeks passed without the exam results appearing. Anne did not know what to do
with herself!
Then one evening, Anne was sitting at her open window when she saw Diana come running
up the hill with a newspaper in her hand.
“Anne, you’ve passed,” she cried, “and you came first—you and Gilbert both—you are
tied.”
“Well now, I always said it,” said Matthew, looking at the exam result list delightedly, “I
knew you could beat them all easily.”

On the table,
the guests must be the first to eat. Perhaps one of the things that surprises a Western guest most is
that the Chinese host likes to pick food for visitors, which won’t happen at Western tables. The
Chinese family go out of their way to make you feel at home. As you finish eating, the host
usually says, “It seems that you didn’t eat much. Please have more.” Although you tell them you
are full, they still put more food in your bowl.
Being warm and hospitable has long been an important part of Chinese culture and tradition.

Computers can injure you. Most other injuries happen suddenly. For example, if you fall off
a bicycle and break your arm, it happens very quickly.

Your back
Some people sit for many hours in front of a computer.

Grain Rain (谷雨) is the sixth solar term of the 24 solar terms (節(jié)氣) in China. It is the last
term in spring. It is always in late April. This year, it is on 19, April.
Grain Rain means the end of spring. It always rains a lot at this time. It is important for
crops to get enough rain, because rainwater can help them grow faster and stronger.
There are some traditions (傳統(tǒng)) during Grain Rain. Drinking tea is one of them. People in
southern China like to drink tea on this day. Spring tea during Grain Rain is rich in vitamins, so
drinking tea can help them remove heat from the body and is good for their eyes. It is also said

and healthy to eat. People can eat it with eggs or tofu. It is really very popular.

celebrate it. Grain Rain marks the start of the fishermen’s first voyage (航行) of the year. The
tradition dates back more than 2,000 years ago. At that time, people believed gods protected them
from the stormy seas, so they could have a good harvest. On this day, people would worship (祭拜)
