I' ve lived in over 20 houses, sharing my neighborhoods with more people than I can recall.While I' ve been extremely fortunate to have chosen friendly and supportive housemates, the same can't always be said of my neighbors. I' ve had neighbors who turned their head whenever I passed, pretending not to see me. I' ve had a neighbor whose child deflated (放氣) the tires of my car, and I didn't get an apology afterwards. While I believe in the benefits of knowing our neighbors, I'm aware they can be a source of stress. There are many ways in which our neighbors can annoy us.
Unwanted noise is the complaint we make. Noise can come from loud music and conversation,machines, screaming children and barking dogs. Overcrowding can particularly cause worry for people living in high-rise apartments. For example, it can be difficult to avoid problematic neighbors when you share a common walkway or elevator. This, in turn, can lead to stress and social withdrawal. Besides, different values can also create tension within the neighborhood.According to a study, women living in poor areas tend to distance themselves from neighbors due to conflicting values as they think their children may benefit in the process.
What should we do when we encounter these problems There is no easy answer. Some minor conflicts can be resolved with a simple knock on the door, while others may be so extreme that legal action or relocation is required. In my case, I' ve never left a property because of problematic neighbors. Fortunately, the naughty child don't play tricks on me anymore. As for the neighbors who avoid interaction rather than engage in conversation … well,occasionally, that neighbor is me!

Did you know that humans are able to recognize about 1 million different colors Well,some people can't recognize this many because of something called colorblindness. If someone is colorblind, that means they can't see as many colors as others— or, in rare cases, can't see any colors at all.
Thankfully, special glasses have already been made to help fix some types of colorblindness. Now, according to a new research published in Optics Letters, scientists have brought this method one step further. Sharon Karepov and Tal Ellenbogen, engineers from TelAviv University in Israel, have found a way to apply this technology to contact lenses (隱形眼鏡). This new method is so groundbreaking because it can be customized to fix many different kinds of visual impairments (缺 陷).
People are able to see color because of how the eye is structured. At the back of our eyes,there
are three different kinds of cone-shaped (圓錐形的) cells that absorb light waves. When light waves are absorbed, the cells send a message to the brain for the image to be processed.
If something is wrong with these cone-shaped cells, this can cause problems when the brain processes the image. One of the most common types of colorblindness is red-green colorblindness. People who have this specific type of visual impairment have difficulty telling apart the colors red and green.
“Problems with distinguishing red from green interrupt simple daily routines such as deciding whether a banana is ripe,” Karepov explained. She also stressed the importance of applying this finding to create special contact lenses instead of relying on color-correcting glasses. “Glasses based on this correction concept are commercially available, however, they are significantly bigger and heavier than contact lenses.” Karepov continued. “Our contact lenses create a customized, compact and durable way to address these shortcomings.”
