Charlotte Bront ’s father was a rural clergyman. She lost her mother when she was five. Bront ’s two older sisters died of an illness. In the age of AI, worries about its impact on the environment are snowballing. For example, asking ChatGPT a question uses ten times more energy than an old-fashioned search. The development of AI has also caused a big increase in greenhouse-gas emissions. Google’s emissions went up nearly 50% from 2019 to 2023. However, these concerns might be overstated.
