To experience a diverse range of artistic expressions, we will host different art exhibitions
in 2025. Now we are proud to announce something about our upcoming exhibits.
Exhibit 1
This one is a group art show that may blow your mind. The exhibit will feature works that
reflect thoughts of grassroots groups, which are actually made up of 50 high school students. The
exhibition will explore the combination of cultural and personal narratives in art, giving you
fascinating insights into the coexistence between humans and the environment.
Exhibit 2
This exhibit’s theme is “All That Is In Between”. Bringing together a mix of historical
objects and contemporary artworks, it will explore the many aspects of faith. The event will be
divided into seven sections and will bring 200 known art talents, together with the artist-led
workshops from around the world.
Exhibit 3
A diverse collection of artists showcasing contemporary digital art from the world can be
expected in this exhibit. There will be more than 20 pieces of AI-generated works displayed for
the first time. The line-up will not only include established artists but also represent new and
impressive AI artworks from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Exhibit 4
This exhibit, focusing on deep talks around the concept of memory and time, will bring
together a variety of mediums — painting, sculpture, and digital art — to create a united yet
diverse display. Highlights include a sculptural installation and a contemporary digital art
performance. Other fun-filled events include panel discussions throughout the duration of the
exhibit.

A few years ago, Rachel Harder, a fourth-grade teacher, attended a trauma (精神創傷 )
conference. She learned that some police stations partnered with schools so they could let
teachers know when one of their students had a police encounter, something that could cause the

student to need extra care or attention.
“I loved this idea and figured there had to be a way to make this work within my own
classroom community,” Rachel said.
A year after the conference, Rachel had a student with autism (自閉癥) who frequently had
tough days. To support her, Rachel told the student’s mother to simply text her “handle with care”
to let her know when it was going to be one of those days.
“I knew that when she texted me, it meant that her daughter needed some extra time and a
quiet location, not the gym for morning announcements, so that the rest of her day went
smoothly,” Rachel said.
The simple method was such a success that Rachel decided to send all of her students home
with a note for their parents. It explained what the “Handle with Care” system was and how they
could take advantage of it. In no time, parents began to show their appreciation for Rachel’s
incredible act of kindness.
But Rachel’s kindness didn’t end with her class. News about the amazing system spread, and
teachers across the country began giving it a shot in their own classrooms. Printouts can be found
on the Smart School House website, and the feedback has been extremely positive!
“The parents just let me know it was a hard morning for their children,” Rachel said. “I
don’t need to know details but parents like that know I’m keeping an extra eye on them.”
Rachel added, “Even though teachers can sometimes tell when a student is having a tough
day by the way they’ re acting, these simple texts allow educators to make minor adjustments in
advance that in turn make the whole day better for everyone.”
24.Why does the author write paragraph 1
A.To introduce the inspiration for Rachel’s system.
B.To show many students are mentally unhealthy.
C.To analyze the causes of students’ health problems.
D.To emphasize parents should understand their kids.
25.How might Rachel treat the girl student with tough days
A.By taking her to the gym for announcements.
B.By communicating with her for a long time.
C.By driving her back home as soon as possible.
D.By giving her some time alone in a quiet place.
26.What can we learn about Rachel’s “Handle with Care” system
A.It ends with her class. B.It is well received.
C.It still confuses parents. D.It needs further testing.
27.What do Rachel’s words in the last paragraph suggest
A.Students are responsible for their own health.
B.It’s easy to tell if a student is having a tough day.
C.Educators needn’t always comfort their students.

For humans, aging is unavoidable. But axolotls (蠑螈), those cute smiling animals of pop
culture fame, seemingly avoid this fate to a point.
In a phenomenon called “neoteny”, axolotls never outgrow their initial stage, looking like
oversize babies as adults. Not only do they look youthful, with feathery structures and distinctive
characteristics, but these critically endangered Mexican species also experience few physical
declines and diseases, and they can regenerate their limbs, tails, and even other organs over their
21-year lifespan. For that reason, human-bred axolotls, which are a light pink in color, are
common research subjects for biologists, who have long been fascinated by their ability to fight
aging.
Now, a new study reveals one more mystery about these curious creatures. Their bodies stop
one of the key mechanisms of aging — the epigenetic clock (表觀遺傳時鐘) — when they’re
just four years old. An epigenetic clock estimates an animal’s age based on how life events, such
as stress or diet, turns its genes on and off. If an animal has experienced a lot of physical and
mental pain, for instance, its epigenetic or biological age, could be much older than its real age.
The findings could be one more step in the long quest to discover effective anti-aging
treatments for humans, such as reducing inflammation (炎癥), according to the study published
on bioRxiv, a website where studies are posted without peer review. Chasing youth is a popular
goal: The anti-aging market, valued at $40 billion, is estimated to hit $60 billion by 2032. What’s
more, understanding axolotl genetics could inspire medicines for regenerating cells, muscles, or
maybe even arms and legs.
“It is a great leap forward in aging and regeneration,” says James Godwin, an immunologist
at the MDI Biological Laboratory in Maine who was not involved in the new study. “If the
mechanisms can be understood, then many opportunities to improve human health could present
themselves.”
The study team examined 180 axolotls from four weeks to 21 years of age. Hopefully,
research on large scales is in store for future dedicated scientists.
28.What is a feature of axolotls due to “neoteny”
A.They maintain a young appearance.
B.They have a higher risk of disease.
C.They experience rapid aging.
D.They undergo a few dramatic body changes.
29.Which factor of an animal can affect its epigenetic clock
A.Its size. B.Its suffering. C.Its habitat D.Its color.
30.What does James Godwin think of the study
A.It is thorough. B.It is promising.

Self-confidence is trusting in our abilities or qualities. It’s usually seen as a good thing. But
is it possible that we might benefit from a little less confidence in our beliefs
For many years, Dr. Mark Leary, a neuroscientist at Duke University in Durham, N.C., has
studied the role of people’s beliefs in their behavior. He found overconfidence is very common,
especially when it comes to what people believe to be true, and can lead us to disastrous
decisions. In 1986, NASA believed that the risk of loss for any space flight was roughly 1 in
100,000. It was an overconfident belief and might have led to the explosion of the Challenger.
The good news is that there’s a “vaccine” for overconfidence, and that’s what scientists call
“intellectual humility”— recognizing that your beliefs could be wrong.
A survey of 144 college students to measure their intellectual humility found that students
who saw their thinking could be wrong tended to be more curious and more likely to seek out
new knowledge. They ended up knowing more at the end of the day. But does it actually help you
beyond that
To find out more, Dr. Tenelle Porter at Ball State University conducted a series of studies
with high school students. She found that students with intellectual humility were much more
likely to test themselves to see whether they really understood the material and seek out potential
holes in their understanding. When they got test scores, they’d change their study strategics to
improve their performance and master the material for the next test.
Students who didn’t see their knowledge could be wrong might instead just sail through
their studying and wouldn’t stop to ask themselves if they truly understood what they read, heard,
or did. Such students thought they got a subject down pat, but when asked to explain it on a test,
they found they didn’t actually understand as much as they had thought.
Although it might be good for you, researchers recognize that questioning your beliefs can
be truly hard. Still, it’s important to remember that questioning beliefs isn’t always about
replacing old ones with new ones. If you find it hard to question a belief, try taking “baby steps.”
32.Why does the author mention the explosion of the Challenger
A.To express his sorrow for the loss.
B.To stress the high risk of space flights.
C.To give an example of overconfidence.
D.To show the result of wrong operation.
33.What do we know about intellectual humility according to Porter’s research
A.It urged students to gain recognition.
B.It encouraged students to take exams.
C.It motivated students to memorize knowledge.

A.Why questioning our belief is hard.

It’s now, more than ever, crucial to adopting a low-impact lifestyle since all kinds of waste,
including that of the fashion industry, are piling up in landfills with astonishing speed. 36
Thankfully, the following tips can help you reduce clothing waste.
·Buy fewer clothes overall. 37 It’s a more cautious approach to shopping and
consumption in general. Think twice about what you will buy and say no to over consumption.
You can even try out a minimalist lifestyle. Shop for what you need only when necessary, keep
things simple, and go back to basics.
·Shop for high-quality clothing. High-quality clothes can cost more at first but save you
money in the long run. 38 Moreover, quality clothes can make you feel more comfortable
and confident, improve your fashion style, and help you look your best.
· 39 Upcycling is very beneficial to the planet and your budget. Instead of throwing
old clothes away, use parts of or entire old clothes to make something new and more valuable.
You can even create stylish and unique pieces of clothing by upcycling.
·Donate your unwanted fashion items. Do a quick online search for your local options to
donate clothes that are still in good condition. Be sure to contact organizations first and ask them
what type of clothes they accept. You can donate clothing to for-profit companies or to homeless
shelters and family service agencies. 40
A.Repurpose your old clothes.
B.Upcycle everyday household objects.
C.Limit your fashion consumption in the first place.
D.Thrown clothes have had a disastrous impact on the planet.

It was the end of the school year. Mum dropped me off at the school gate and I dashed
toward my classroom as usual, without being aware of my German Shepherd, Baxter also jumped
out of the car and followed me into the school. For fear that I might be late for Mr. White's class,
I just ignored the strange glances and laughter all the way, thinking they had nothing to do with
me, until my best friend Roy shouted anxiously “Melisa, Baxter behind you.”
I turned around: There he was, with his tongue hanging out and tail wagging happily in the
wind. I was rooted on the spot. I wasn't supposed to bring my dog to school but at that moment, it
was just impossible to get Baxter back.
I lowered myself and tried to get Barter to come closer, but he stared at me for a while, and
jumped back. He was waiting for me to take him outside for a walk. Praise is always good, even
for a dog, so I said “Baxter, good boy. Come on now.” Luckily, he ran toward me.
But I could never hide such a naughty dog under my desk. I looked at Roy helplessly, who
see yes suddenly lit up, “The closet (儲存室)…”
Yes, the closet. A thrill of excitement ran through my body. There, at the end of the hallway f
this building, just on this floor, there was a small unlocked closet where we could safely park
Baxter. That was really a perfect idea which would free me from my dilemma.
Then, Roy and I ran desperately back into our classroom. Hardly had we settled down into
our seats when Mr. White came in, books and papers in his hand.
The class went on smoothly. Mr. White explained some rules patiently and reminded us to
take notes. I listened attentively. Then something went wrong. When Mr. White began to write
some math problems on the blackboard, quietly, a dog slid in. It was Baxter. Mr. White turned
around, frozen with shock. “Whose dog is it ”

【原文】W: Hi, Tom, did you go to see a film last night
M: Yes, I went there with Tony.
W: How did you like the film
M: Rather bad, Mary, you can’t imagine it. It was a complete waste of time. It was about a married couple.
They lived with the wife’s mother because they didn’t have enough money to buy a house of their own.
W: A lot of young people have to do that today.
M: Yes, but the husband had to work overtime 3 times a week. So he was always tired out.
W: It sounds miserable.
M: Not really. Later, his wife was able to find a good job as a manager in a company. So in the end, they
were able to buy a house. And he didn’t have to work hard any more. Stupid, wasn’t it
W: I don’t know. Anyway, I don’t want to see the film. I’m so busy with my exams.

【原文】Most Americans treat their pets like family members. It means Americans love their pets. And they
provide them with a proper home, food, exercise, and medical care. Americans love pets and it is not just
puppy love. Sometimes, they add to their interest to their pets with entertaining videos and amusing toys. If
they have an eye for fashion, pets’ owners can dress their pets in pretty clothes. For special occasions, they
can use perfume to make their dogs smell nice or less basely. You might see Americans treat their pets like
they treat their children, sometimes even better. The most common pets in the US are dogs, cats, birds and
fish. Pets, such as dogs and cats, make good companions. But in addition to providing good companionship,
pets are useful too. For example, dogs guard property, heard cattle and sheep, and lead the blind. Monkeys,
unusual pets in the US, will soon become useful pets for disabled persons. Scientists are now training
monkeys to help disabled persons do some simple tasks, such as eating, cleaning the house and even
changing the channel on the TV set.

Paragraph 1:
At this time, Baxter spotted me and ran toward me excitedly. He announced silently to
all hat I was his owner. With my heart racing and my face burning, I could see, from the
comer of my eyes, some of my classmates looked at me sympathetically. I reminded myself
to breathe as I stood up, with sweat streaming down the back of my neck, and said, “Sorry. ”I
explained nervously, choking with shame and tears. Baxter sensed my anxiety and began to
bark. I tried desperately to calm him down.
Paragraph 2:
I had thought Mrs. White wouldn't let me get away with it. However, Mrs. White didn't
scold me. Instead, she suggested I keep Baxter in her office for a while. She also lent me her
cell phone, so that I could call my mother asking her to pick Baxter up. Because of my
teacher's kindness, the accident turned into an amusing incident. After the class, I made an
apology again to Mrs. White but she just patted me softly saying, “It's OK. ”It was the first
time I had felt my teacher was such a gentle woman.
