M: A Chinese man has caught millions of viewers’ eyes online for his amazing woodworking skill. He is Wang Dewen, who is known as “Grandpa Amu” on YouTube. His most popular video, which shows him making a fantastic wooden bridge, gained more than 42 million views. Wang’s family lived a hard life in Shandong Province. There were four kids and his mother didn’t have enough food for them, so he began to learn the skill to support his family. Wang’s first piece was a cooking pot cover. He made it for his mother. For the next fifty years, Wang worked as a farmer. When he was free, he made furniture as well as doors for local building projects. Two years ago, Wang left Shandong Province to live with his son in Guangxi Province. He made kinds of wooden toys for his grandson. His son made the processes into videos and shared them online. He wanted more people to know these ancient Chinese skills and hoped to use their influence to help the local villagers to sell their farm produce.

根據第二段中“The benefits have led to the appearance of a new type of law firm-AI-centric (aka AI-native) law firms. Staff (全體職工) and lawyers at AI-native firms make the most of AI for various tasks such as research.(這些好處催生了一種新型律師事務所——以人工智能為中心(又稱人工智能原生)律師事務所。人工智能原生公司的員工和律師充分利用人工智能進行各種任務,如研究)”可知,新型律師事務所的特別之處在于對人工智能的有效利用。故選B。
29.主旨大意題。根據第三段中“AI can do in seconds what takes days for a junior associate. Speed gives AI a great role in the legal field, with ROI well beyond the “traditional” 10 to 20 percent. AI-centric firms can grow without increasing the support staff. Wherever AI reduces costs, it frees up funds for marketing development. AI makes marketing communications faster and easier for law firms, as it does for other businesses.(人工智能可以在幾秒鐘內完成初級律師需要幾天才能完成的任務。速度使人工智能在法律領域發揮了重要作用,投資回報率遠遠超過了“傳統”的10%到20%。以人工智能為中心的公司可以在不增加輔助人員的情況下實現增長。無論人工智能在哪里降低成本,它都會為市場開發釋放資金。和其他企業一樣,人工智能讓律師事務所的營銷溝通變得更快、更容易)”可知,第三段主要講的是人工智能對律師事務所的幫助。故選A。
根據第四段中“According to a 2023 Thomson Reuters survey, lawyers at AI-native firms often send repetitive tasks to AI. Support staff and junior associates become, in effect, supervisors (監督人) of AI. This truly improves work satisfaction.(根據湯森路透2023年的一項調查,人工智能原生公司的律師經常將重復性任務交給人工智能。輔助人員和初級律師實際上成為了人工智能的監督者。這確實提高了工作滿意度)”可知,湯森路透的調查發現人工智能有助于提高工作滿意度。故選C。
31.細節理解題。根據最后一段中“Are law firms jumping on board and going AI-native in large numbers Surprisingly the answer is no. According to another survey 60% had no plans to use AI. That’s good news for the other 40%. The legal profession is among the industries achieving the best ROI from the use of AI. Law firms should “get it” and enjoy greater growth and profitability.(律師事務所是否大量加入并采用人工智能原生技術?令人驚訝的是,答案是否定的。根據另一項調查,60%的人沒有使用人工智能的計劃。這對另外40%的人來說是個好消息。法律行業是從人工智能使用中獲得最佳投資回報率的行業之一。律師事務所應該“抓住機遇”,實現更大的增長和盈利)”可知,作者可能會同意“現在是律師事務所全力投入人工智能的時候了”這一觀點。故選A。

根據第一段中“The average smartphone user seldom goes two hours without using her device, unlocks her device 50 or more times a day, and taps on it as many as 2,617 times in the process. The youth are particularly affected: A 2018 Pew Research Center report found that 44% of teens said they often check their devices for messages or notifications as soon as they wake up, 54% said they spend too much time on their mobile phone, and 42% feel anxiety when they do not have it.(普通智能手機用戶很少有連續兩小時不使用設備的情況,每天解鎖設備50次或更多次,過程中點擊設備次數高達2617次。
根據最后一段“The digital-technology expert Cal Newport recommends the “phone foyer” method, that is he leaves his phone by the front door when he walks into his house, and doesn’t put it in his pocket until he leaves again. If he needs to look at it, he does so only at the entrance hall. Just as the Greek Stoic philosopher (哲學家) Epictetus once said, “No man is free who is not master of himself.”(數字技術專家卡爾·紐波特推薦“電話門廳”的方法,即當他走進家門時,把手機放在前門,直到再次離開時才把手機放進口袋。如果他需要看手機,他只會在門廳看。正如古希臘斯多葛學派哲學家愛比克泰德曾經說過的:“不能控制自己的人是不自由的。”)”可推知,作者在最后一段引用愛比克泰德的話是為了激勵人們擺脫手機成癮。故選D。
35.主旨大意題。根據第三段“But in a world of electronic payments, digital documents, and remote work, a truly smartphone-free lifestyle is getting less and less likely. A better-and, for many of us, more reasonable-way is to manage addictive behavior by moderating (使適度) device use. This isn’t just a matter of setting screen-time limits you can easily break; rather, you can start to develop specific habits to replace the unhealthy ones that keep sending you back to your phone.(但在電子支付、數字文檔和遠程辦公的世界里,真正擺脫智能手機的生活方式越來越不可能實現。對我們許多人來說,一個更好、更合理的方法是通過適度使用設備來管理成癮行為。這不僅僅是設定一個你很容易打破的屏幕時間限制的問題;相反,你可以開始養成特定的習慣,來取代那些讓你不斷回到手機上的不健康習慣)”并結合全文可知,文章主要講述了手機成癮的現象及其危害,并提出了管理成癮行為的建議。A選項“如何戒掉手機癮”最符合文章標題。故選A。

故填which。
空處作of的賓語,結合“the path”可知,名詞development“發展”符合題意,為不可數名詞,path of development表示“發展道路”。故填development。
根據“inspired merchants”可推知,此處應用動詞短語inspire sb. to do sth. 故填to experience。

She took her tray and walked over to Andy. “Hi, Andy! Mind if I sit here ” she asked with a big smile. Andy looked up, a bit surprised, but nodded shyly. Julie started chatting about all the fun things they could do at school, like playing on the playground and doing art projects. Andy listened, a small smile slowly forming on his face. She introduced Andy to her other friends, and they all greeted him warmly.

After a few days in Pittsburgh, I was happy to leave the city and enjoy the harmony of the countryside. I left my hotel early and drove south to the Bear Run Nature Reserve. As I arrived, I was immediately impressed by the charming Laurel Highlands and other natural sights. However, I was not there to enjoy beauty: I was there to see a house, one of the most famous houses in the world.
The house I had come to see is Fallingwater. It is called Fallingwater because it was built over a waterfall. As most houses are built on solid ground, this house’s location instantly made it famous. When you approach the house, surrounded by forest, streams and mountains, it looks as though the clear blue water were flowing through it, since the stream rushes out from under the ground floor of the building.
The house was designed by the architect, Frank Lloyd Wright, for businessman Edgar Kaufman and his family. As I toured the house, I learnt that it took Wright three years to build the place. The Kaufman family had asked him to design them a home in the middle of the countryside where they could enjoy the sights and sounds of the natural world. Though they lived in the city, they loved to come to the mountains to spend some time in the peace and quiet of nature, where they could go camping in the forest and play in the stream with their children. In fact, they loved the water so much that they asked Wright to design a house that would let them view the beautiful waterfall every day.
Many people have suggested that this incredible building is a work of art, and I would agree that this beautiful house is a masterpiece of design. It also demonstrates how important it is to live side-by-side with nature and to respect it rather than try to dominate it.
24.________ impressed the author first as he arrived at the location of Fallingwater.
A.The beauty of nature. B.The sight of the waterfall.
C.The designer of the house. D.The preservation of the environment.
25.Fallingwater quickly became famous because ________.
A.a famous architect designed it. B.it was built over waterfall.
C.blue water flowed through it. D.it was situated in a nature reserve.
26.The Kaufman family had the house built there in order to ________.
A.move to the countryside. B.live in a masterpiece.
C.enjoy the harmony of nature. D.create a new scenic spot.
27.What is the best title of the passage
A.A Talent Designer and His Masterpiece. B.Human and Nature.
C.A House over Waterfall. D.Life in Fallingwate.

While AI’s influence on various industries like healthcare is widely discussed, the legal profession has received less attention. In fact, the business of law is well-positioned to achieve the highest ROI (投資回報率) from using AI.
Law firms (公司) are seen as traditional but most have used machine learning for years. In the business of law, AI-driven time and cost savings are typically very high. The benefits have led to the appearance of a new type of law firm-AI-centric (aka AI-native) law firms. Staff (全體職工) and lawyers at AI-native firms make the most of AI for various tasks such as research. AI-native law firms also use AI to service customers who require personalized treatment.
Every day, junior associates (初級律師) need to work fast and correctly, yet never miss anything important. The work can tire them, leading to mistakes. AI can do in seconds what takes days for a junior associate. Speed gives AI a great role in the legal field, with ROI well beyond the “traditional” 10 to 20 percent. AI-centric firms can grow without increasing the support staff. Wherever AI reduces costs, it frees up funds for marketing development. AI makes marketing communications faster and easier for law firms, as it does for other businesses.
AI’s positive effect on work satisfaction is often underappreciated. According to a 2023 Thomson Reuters survey, lawyers at AI-native firms often send repetitive tasks to AI. Support staff and junior associates become, in effect, supervisors (監督人) of AI. This truly improves work satisfaction.
Are law firms jumping on board and going AI-native in large numbers Surprisingly the answer is no. According to another survey 60% had no plans to use AI. That’s good news for the other 40%. The legal profession is among the industries achieving the best ROI from the use of AI. Law firms should “get it” and enjoy greater growth and profitability.
28.What makes the new kind of law firm special
A.The high ROI. B.The effective use of AI.
C.Focusing on AI cheating cases. D.Providing personalized treatment.
29.What is paragraph 3 mainly about
A.Why AI is helpful to law firms. B.What high ROI means to law firms.
C.When AI will take over traditional law firms. D.How law firms deal with marketing challenges.
30.What did the Thomson Reuters survey find
A.The legal profession often has high profitability.
B.Support staff are very important to a law firm.
C.AI contributes to increasing job satisfaction.
D.Law firms are leading in using AI.
31.Which of the following will the author probably agree with
A.It’s time for law firms to go all in on AI.
B.Safety is the major concern for law firms.
C.AI technology should grow alongside the law.
D.Law firm can be new and old at the same time.
D
By now, nearly everyone knows we can be addicted to our digital devices (設備). The average smartphone user seldom goes two hours without using her device, unlocks her device 50 or more times a day, and taps on it as many as 2,617 times in the process. The youth are particularly affected: A 2018 Pew Research Center report found that 44% of teens said they often check their devices for messages or notifications as soon as they wake up, 54% said they spend too much time on their mobile phone, and 42% feel anxiety when they do not have it.
A device addiction is quite harmful. According to the technology research firm Compare Camp, 26% of car accidents in the U.S. today are due to the use of smartphones while driving. Besides, it is concerned with depression and anxiety. These problems are known to almost everyone; the solutions, less so. Some experts suggest taxation (征稅) to help limit digital overuse. Others say the only way to beat an addiction is to quit cold turkey and go device-free.
But in a world of electronic payments, digital documents, and remote work, a truly smartphone-free lifestyle is getting less and less likely. A better-and, for many of us, more reasonable-way is to manage addictive behavior by moderating (使適度) device use. This isn’t just a matter of setting screen-time limits you can easily break; rather, you can start to develop specific habits to replace the unhealthy ones that keep sending you back to your phone.
The digital-technology expert Cal Newport recommends the “phone foyer” method, that is he leaves his phone by the front door when he walks into his house, and doesn’t put it in his pocket until he leaves again. If he needs to look at it, he does so only at the entrance hall. Just as the Greek Stoic philosopher (哲學家) Epictetus once said, “No man is free who is not master of himself.”
32.How does the writer explain phone addiction in paragraph 1
A.By giving reasons. B.By listing data.
C.By raising questions. D.By making comparisons.
33.What does the underlined word “quit cold turkey” mean in paragraph 2
A.Charge a tax. B.Stop eating turkeys.
C.Stop using smartphones. D.Discourage smoking.
34.Why does the author quote Epictetus in the last paragraph
A.To show respect to Epictetus.
B.To prove the “phone foyer” method.
C.To advise people to be a master.
D.To inspire people to get rid of phone addiction.
35.Which of the following can be the best title for the text
A.How to Break a Phone Addiction
B.Effect of Phone Addiction on Teens
C.Phone Addiction Ruins Our Freedom
D.Device Addiction Contributes to Anxiety

My mom is one of the least wasteful people I know. She often brings her basket to the market to carry food. 36 . The key is to be creative about redesigning your behavior to cut plastic and other waste. Here are a few simple ways.
Reuse your containers
A lot of low-waste solutions require buying special containers. But you don’t need to spend money on them. 37 . Maybe you can use a cola bottle to water flowers. Or maybe you can use empty boxes and other food containers to store leftovers or organize other small things.
Save what you can
There are many things in your household you can save before dropping them. Maybe you can repair an old pair of jeans instead of buying a new pair. Or maybe you can cut up old T-shirts into rags (抹布). 38 .
Depend less on pre-packaged (包裝) foods
39 . Tomatoes come in plastic containers, and some drinks come in plastic bottles. So try to source your food in ways that don’t require you to get it from a package. Instead of buying vegetables in a non-recyclable container at the store, you can try to plant a vegetable garden in your community.
40
Once you start noticing how much rubbish you produce at home, you can start to see places to cut down on rubbish elsewhere. Bring your own reusable fork to a restaurant that uses single-use plastic utensils (餐具). Or ask your local waiter to fill up your glass coffee cup instead of a paper one.
A.You can do much cooking at home
B.Save part of your meal for the next day
C.Often, food comes in wasteful packaging
D.Look for ways to cut waste outside the home
E.You can also live a low-waste lifestyle like this
F.You’ll save as much as you can in such a creative way
G.Instead, figure out a way to reuse the waste you have produced

Blue-and-white porcelain (瓷) is 56 (probable) a good example of the global market in the ancient world. This Chinese ceramic variety 57 (gain) a global reputation during the Yuan Dynasty (1271—1368) and over the following centuries, became one of the country’s signature 58 (product) on the flourishing Maritime Silk Road.
Nonetheless, when people look back at how this thing began, they may discover 59 interesting fact—this “made-in-China” product was also an example of the international supply chain in the past, as the raw cobalt pigment (顏料) initially used to make its amazing blue came from modern-day Iran.
This is just one of the stories 60 (tell) through the 266 cultural artifacts 61 display at Historic Encounters: Interaction Between China and West Asia in History.
“In the blue-and-white porcelain on exhibit, you’ll find many typical West Asian decorative patterns and inscriptions,” Ji Luoyuan, the exhibition’s curator and an associate researcher with the Palace Museum, 62 (say). “But China gradually developed its own materials during the Ming Dynasty (1368—1644) and adopted more traditional Chinese patterns,” he adds.
Just as bronze, 63 originated in West Asia and once enriched ancient Chinese civilization, silk from China may also have shaped the path of 64 (develop) on the other side of the continent, as it once inspired merchants (商人) 65 (experience) the tough desert crossing in search of wealth.

“My name is Julie Hanson. I am excited to be back in school. I have two new cats, and you are all invited to see them after school!” Julie said to the 2nd grade class when it was her turn to introduce herself. Julie knew she was outgoing (外向的) and sometimes loud. With her bright red, curly (卷曲) hair and mismatched socks, Julie appeared a little frightening to the shy kids. She couldn’t help it! She loved school, her friends, and being the centre of attention. Julie’s mum said she attracted friends like fruit flies to apple juice.
Mrs. Diaz, the teacher, smiled and thanked Julie for sharing. Mrs. Diaz then introduced a new kid named Andy Collins. When he spoke, he was quiet and didn’t say much. Julie thought she had seen him at breakfast. He had been sitting alone and not eating. Mrs. Diaz then partnered him with Eric as his “buddy” for the day. After class, Julie had forgotten all about Andy. She played four square, swung across the monkey bars twice, and shot a hoop (鐵環) that didn’t make the basket. “I love being back at school,” later thought Julie as she took her seat and got ready to work on maths.
At lunchtime, Julie noticed that Andy was sitting with Eric and his friends but not talking to anyone. “He looks lonely, ” thought Julie, as she ate up her pizza, drank her milk, and went outside to play hide-and-seek with a group that was already playing.
When the bell rang to go home for the day, Julie walked up to Mrs. Diaz and gave her a big hug. “Thank you for a great first day! ” Julie said.
“I’ll see you tomorrow! ” Mrs. Diaz told her. She smiled to herself about her outgoing student.
