Dear Principal,
I am Li Hua from Senior 2. I am writing to present my thoughts about the collective physical
activity during the morning break, which currently fails to meet students’ diverse needs.
Currently, jogging and gymnastics are causing a decline in enthusiasm due to lack of
engagement. I suggest offering varied options to boost motivation. We should encourage team sports
like basketball and volleyball, which many students enjoy. Additionally, Tai-chi could be offered for
those preferring gentle exercises, and dancing to lively music could be a fun release. This would
improve fitness and make breaks more enjoyable.
I would deeply appreciate it if our school could take these ideas into consideration and create
a more vibrant and inclusive break-time environment.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua
寫作第二節:
Brandon gently held Rubie and kept the bottle steady. Rubie drank quietly, her eyes locked on
his face. “You’re so gentle with her,” Mom whispered, watching from the doorway. Brandon smiled,
staring at the tiny white bubbles floating in Rubie’s bottle, remembering his wish and her words
about being “dependable.” When Rubie finished, he patted her softly, earning a nod of approval
from Uncle Jay. As he handed Rubie back, Mom added, “You’ve proven something today.” Her tone
hinted at a secret, making Brandon’s heart race.
The next afternoon, Brandon returned from school greeted by a big surprise.. Waiting on the
table was a small fish tank, bubbling softly. “Happy early birthday,” Dad said. “You’ve shown us
you’re ready.” Brandon’s eyes widened with joy. He knew exactly which fish he wanted—the red-
and-blue-striped one. The next day, they brought it home. Every morning, he fed it and checked the
water carefully. Looking at the rising bubbles, Brandon smiled. He had earned more than a pet—he
had earned trust, and taken his first real step toward growing up.
聽力錄音稿
Text 1
W: Don’t take too long, Mike. The examination is coming, you know.
M: I won’t. I’ll come back to school as soon as possible and make up the lessons missed during my
absence.
Text 2
M: Is that a metal straw
W: Yeah, I always carry it with me because stores have stopped providing plastic straws. Though
paper straws are provided, they get wet and soft easily.
Text 3
W: My niece lost her toy duck. I hope to find a similar one here.
M: Probably this isn’t the best place. Prices at malls are usually higher than those at other shops.
You can try Tracy’s.
W: The large supermarket on Backstreet
Text 4
W: Haven’t you moved out I thought you moved last month.
M: Cathy and I intended to move, but she wasn’t satisfied with any of the flats she looked at. But
she just found a new flat online the other day and we want to move this weekend.
Text 5
W: Hey, Michael. I heard you’re running for class president. Do you think you’ll win
M: Sure! Jack said he’d back me up.
W: He said the same thing to me last year, but I didn’t get his vote.
Text 6
M: I’ve been thinking a lot about my career lately. It was a mistake that I got into this field. I’m
never cut out for international trade. I want to quit.
W: You studied marketing back in college, right What else can you do
M: I’m considering going back to school to study graphic design. I’ve been interested in art ever
since I was a child. I used to spend hours drawing and creating things.
W: Well, I guess it’s never too late to follow your dreams.
Text 7
W: Ray, it’s me, Emma. I’m sorry. I won’t be able to make it to the movie tonight.
M: Is everything okay
W: Just some unexpected work came up.
M: Okay. Still, I can pick you up when you’re finished.
W: No, don’t bother. My colleague will give me a ride home on her way.
M: But Emma, we’re getting married next month. We need to find some time to discuss the details.
W: Yeah, maybe the day after tomorrow I think I won’t be as busy then.
M: Sure. See you on Thursday.
Text 8
M: Angela, you look fascinated with your computer.
W: I’ve found this interesting online article about recent discoveries in the Maya civilization.
M: Okay. So, what’s the latest
W: Scientists have uncovered 417 cities dating back 2,000 years, deep in the jungle. These cities
were connected by 110 miles of stone highways, which is considered the world’s first extensive
highway system.
M: Wow! I had no idea they had such advanced infrastructure.
W: Absolutely! The Maya were previously thought to be hunter-gatherers, but these discoveries have
proven they were already creating cities during that time. And to do this in a jungle environment,
they had to clear rainforest areas for farming and even constructed large underground man-made
lakes to store rainwater.
M: Astonishing! Someday I’ll definitely visit the Maya ruins. I wonder how a civilization like theirs
came to an end.
W: That’s still a mystery. Around 900 BC, many Maya cities were abandoned, and scientists are still
trying to uncover the reasons behind the collapse. Hey, you know what I think I know what
topic I should present to our classmates in Mr. Smith’s class next Tuesday — the great Maya
civilization!
Text 9
W: Oliver, our teacher wants us to write a report on how many students in college speak more than
one language. It’s a big project.
M: we can ask for that information from the college office first. On the first day here, we put
information about our second language on the registration form.
W: I’ll make an appointment to go and speak to somebody there. Who do I need to see Is it Miss
Wright
M: No, she works in the student service office. Miss Smith works in the college office.
W: Is it next door to the IT service office where Mr. Black works
M: No, Mr. Black is in the student administration office on the second floor. For the college office,
you need to go to the floor above.
W: Oh, OK. I know where it is now.
M: Great. I’m going to have some coffee. Do you want to join me
W: I’d like to, but I need to go to the library. The math test is coming soon. Enjoy your coffee. Bye.
Text 10
M: When your doctor asks how often you exercise or what you’ve been eating lately, do you always
give her an honest answer
According to a new study, three fifths to four fifths of the people surveyed have not been
completely honest with their doctors about the information that could be relevant to their health.
What’s more, more than a third of them didn’t speak up when they disagreed with their doctor’s
recommendation.
When those people explained why they weren’t straightforward, they said that they didn't
want to be lectured about how bad certain behaviors were.
The study included two populations: the first group consisted of 2,0ll participants who
averaged 36 years old, and 2,499 participants who were 61 on average made up the second group.
Scientists from four American universities carried out the study. In the study, the first author
expressed her concern.“It’s surprising. If patients are withholding information about what
they’re eating, or whether they are taking their medication, it can have significant results for
their health. Especially if they have some illness,” she said.
