In the east of China, specifically in Zhejiang province with its super long coastline (海岸線), there are many “Little Blue Houses”. These aren’t regular houses but stations for sorting and recycling plastic waste, playing an important role in the fight against marine (海洋) plastic pollution. They are the heart of the “Blue Circle” project, which is a big plan in China to deal with the plastic waste in the sea. In 2023, this project even got a top honor (榮譽) from the United Nations Environment Program, called the “Champions of the Earth” award.
At the “Little Blue Houses”, local volunteers start by sorting out the plastic waste that can be recycled. Then, the sorted materials are sent to a high-tech company that focuses on (關注) keeping the ocean environment healthy. Next, the waste goes to a recycling factory. There, it goes through steps like being crushed, cleaned, melted, and finally turned into small pieces. Each piece of plastic is carefully tracked using special technology, so we always know where it came from.
Even though recycling has some difficulties like it’s not easy to collect all the waste and it can cost a lot, recycled plastic from the ocean is still quite popular. The price of these recycled plastics is a bit higher, but many customers, including big international brands, would like to pay more. That’s because it helps with making our world more sustainable (可持續的). And these recycled materials can be made into all kinds of things we use every day, like clothes and school supplies.

In Hefei, the capital city of Anhui Province, a growing number of foreign students are falling in love with Chinese intangible cultural heritage (中國非物質文化遺產). Among nearly 3,000 international students here, over half of them choose to study different kinds of heritage courses provided by 14 local organizations.
Take Wallace for example. He is from Australia and studies traditional Chinese medicine at Anhui University of Chinese Medicine. Besides medicine, he is also crazy about martial arts (武術). He thinks learning from Chinese local coaches is very important to master martial arts which has a close connection with medicine in Chinese tradition.
Another student, Alina from Russia, studies at Anhui Agricultural University. She came to China to learn more about tea science, art and culture because she thought what she learned in Russia was insufficient.
In Hefei University of Technology, there are many traditional culture courses such as paper-cutting, calligraphy, martial arts and Chinese painting and so on. They are mainly offered for the students from 47 foreign countries.
“What I do is not about creating new knowledge, but about passing on knowledge and techniques,” said Zhong Yan, a teacher from Hefei University of Technology.
Xi Zhiyang, a teacher of Huizhou-style paper-cutting said, “Foreign students are very enthusiastic (熱情的) learners. I am very satisfied with the works they create... We all want to do things well. For example, all the students want to get good grades. However, growing up also includes accepting when things go wrong. In fact, mistakes can lead to some of the most interesting and meaningful results.
Aiming for good results can help you focus on (關注) your goals, but it’s also important to focus on enjoying the process. Getting too hung up on whether things go as planned can put a lot of pressure on you and lead to worry. That’s why it’s good to leave some room for mistakes.
Dr. Rekha Vara is a doctor who helps people with their mental health (心理健康). She says getting things wrong is part of growing up. “We also have to experience the uncomfortable feeling when we get things wrong. This helps us to become stronger,” says Dr. Vara. “Or we’ll be too scared to make mistakes. This fear can lead us to put off doing difficult things or avoid trying new things.”
Learning from your mistakes is necessary during growing up. The most important thing is what you choose to do next. Try not to take it too seriously, blame (責備) yourself or feel too disappointed or upset. Dr. Vara explains, “Remember you’re a common man. Humans make mistakes.” You should enjoy your feelings, then these feelings will soon pass and then you’ll feel happier.
Instead, thinking about what you might do differently next time helps a lot. In one study, if students were reminded to forgive (寬恕) and be kind to themselves when they failed a test, they felt more encouraged to try again, while other students were less willing to have a second try.
12.What does the underlined part in Paragraph 2 probably mean
A.執迷 B.懊悔 C.遺憾 D.忽略
13.Which of the following would Dr. Vara agree with
A.Fear leads us to try new things.
B.Failure (失敗) is normal in growing up.
C.Good results make us stronger.
D.People hardly ever get things wrong.
14.What can we learn from the study mentioned in the passage
A.Students who were kind to themselves when failing a test were less likely to try again.
B.Students who were not kind to themselves when failing a test were more encouraged to try again.
C.Forgiving and being kind to oneself when failing can make him or her more likely to try again.
D.All students felt equally encouraged to try again whether they forgave themselves or not.
15.What is the best title for the passage
A.How to Get Good Grades
B.The Importance of Avoiding Mistakes
C.The Pressure of Aiming for Success
D.Learning from Mistakes during Growing Up

If it’s a friend, the greetings such as “Good morning/afternoon” are 35 (friend) and inviting. However, in a formal setting with someone you don’t know, you might start with “Dear [department name]”.
The body of the email is where you get down to business. This is the part where you express your needs or share important information. If the recipient doesn’t know you, it’s wise to introduce 36 (you) briefly in the first few lines. For example, “My name is Lily Green.” After that, state your main points 37 (clear), putting the most important information up front. Maybe you want to ask, “I was wondering if the application (申請) deadline 38 (pass) so far. If not, where can I submit my form ”
Finally, the closing of an email is just as important. It’s usually a short phrase that 39 (show) your mon closings include “Kind regards”, “Best wishes”, “Thank you”. And don’t forget to include your name.

AI in Our Life
Nowadays, artificial intelligence (AI) has come into almost every part of our daily lives, and it’s changing our world really fast.
On the one hand, AI makes our lives much easier. For example, we can talk to people from other countries easily with the help of some translation apps. In the hospital, doctors can use AI to read pictures and find diseases early.
On the other hand, AI brings some problems. Lots of jobs might be taken by AI. Many people will lose their jobs because of this. What’s more, some people depend too much on AI. They don’t want to think by themselves any more.
In my opinion, we should use AI properly. We should find ways to stop the bad things about AI. Only in this way can AI do more good for us and serve us well.
