When I was young, I spent many summers in my grandparents’ village. The harvest season was always a busy but joyful time for the farmers, and it left a deep impression on me. It was not only a time of hard work but also a moment of family and community togetherness.
During harvest, the fields were full of energy and activity. My grandparents, along with other villagers, worked early in the morning until sunset. The wheat fields were golden, and everyone would gather to help harvest the crops. The air was filled with the sound of sickles (鐮刀) cutting through the tall plants, and the fresh smell of earth was all around us. The work was tiring, but it was deeply satisfying to see the crops coming in.
After the hard work, we’d all gather for a big meal to celebrate, and the whole village would come together to enjoy the food and relax. I loved these moments when everyone sat around the table, sharing stories and laughing.
Looking back, the harvest season taught me important lessons about hard work, teamwork, and gratitude (感激) for the food we eat. Even though the village has changed a lot over the years, I still treasure those memories of the harvest season. It was a time of hard work and happiness, and it remains a special part of my childhood.
16.How does the writer describe the harvest season in the village
A. Busy but joyful.
B. Quiet and boring.
C. Happy but stressful.

C. They continued working through the night.
18.What might be the best title for the passage
A. The life of farmers
B. The value of hard work
C. The joy of the harvest season

On April 26, 2022, an Italian woman called Vienna Cammarota set off from Venice. The 72-year-old planned to go to China on foot, which meant she would travel about 22,000 kilometres and walk through 15 countries. The journey would be full of challenges, but she wasn’t afraid.
Cammarota carried only a backpack. “I have a great love of travelling,”she said. On August 29, 2024, she finally set foot in China.
Cammarota’s journey was inspired by Marco Polo . The Italian explorer travelled to China along the ancient Silk Road over 700 years ago. For Cammarota, the journey was more than following in Marco Polo’s footsteps. She wanted to see and feel China’s Belt and Road in person. By sharing her experiences, Cammarota hoped that her travels would help people in the West see the true beauty of China.
Cammarota’s interest in China began more than 20 years ago. A Chinese student lived in her home and told her a lot about the country’s long history and rich culture. Cammarota planned to spend two years in China. She would visit the key stops along the ancient Silk Road, including Dunhuang and Xi’an. She also wanted to visit Suzhou, which Marco Polo described as the Venice of the East.
Cammarota calls herself an ambassador (大使) of cultural exchange and a modern-day Marco Polo. “I want people to know about the Silk Road,” she said. “I also want to send a message to women of my age: It’s never too late to go for your dream.”
19.What do we know about Cammarota
A. She has visited 15 countries so far.
B. She spent over two years reaching China.
C. She was worried about her journey to China at first.
20.What can we learn from paragraph 3
A. What Cammarota did in China.
B. How Cammarota felt about China.
C. Why Cammarota had the journey to China.
21.Why does Cammarota call herself an ambassador of cultural exchange
A. Because she helps more people know about China.
B. Because she’s had an interest in China for long.
C. Because she’ll learn about the ancient Silk Road.
22.What is the purpose of the passage
A. To describe the Silk Road to us.
B. To introduce an Italian traveller to us.
C. To show us a traveller’s experience in China.

Many people can remember their dreams when they wake up. However, some people rarely remember the details (細(xì)節(jié)) in their dreams—and for other people, dreams are a mystery that they can’t remember at all.
Now, a new study made by a research team in Italy has looked into some of the factors that may influence why and how well we remember our dreams.
The team has studied over 200 healthy adults aged 18 to 70. These subjects were asked to keep a record of their dreams and to wear a sleep monitoring device (睡眠監(jiān)測裝置) for 15 days. The subjects had to record whether they remembered dreaming or not, what they could remember of their dream, or if they had experienced so-called “white dreams”—the feeling of having dreamed something without being able to remember what the dream was about.
Finally, it found that there were three main factors that influenced whether people remembered their dreams or not. These were how they felt about dreams, how easily their minds wandered (走神), and their sleep patterns.
Subjects who felt happy about their dreams and those who often let their minds wander when awake were much more likely to remember their dreams. People who spent more time in light sleep and less time in deep sleep were also better at remembering their dreams.
However, the researchers also found that the seasons influenced subjects’ ability to remember their dreams, with dreams being harder to remember in winter than in other seasons.
Researchers did not find a strong connection between age or gender (性別) and the ability to remember dreams. However, they did find that older subjects were more likely to experience white dreams.
23.The underlined word “rarely” in paragraph 1 means “ ”.
A. seldom B. quietly C. successfully
24.What is the third paragraph mainly about
A. The influence of dreams on daily life.
B. The reasons for having “white dreams”.
C. The process and methods used in the study.
25.What kind of people are more likely to remember dreams
A. People who enjoy their dreams often.
B. People who sleep less than 6 hours daily.
C. People who have longer periods of deep sleep.
26.In which part of the magazine can we find this article
A. History & Culture B. Science & Health
C. Communication & Education

The next morning, after knocking on some doors, Claudia finally found the boy’s house. A kind woman answered the door. “Hello,” Claudia said nervously. “I’m looking for the young man who helped me at the grocery store yesterday. I just want to thank him.” The woman stepped aside. “That would be my grandson, e in, please.”

Dear Alex,
I’m sorry to hear that you’re feeling so stressed. Don’t worry. It’s normal to feel this way before exams. Here are some suggestions that might help.
First, make a study plan. Break down your subjects into smaller parts and study them one by one. This way, you will feel less stressed. Second, try to relax. You can listen to some soft music or take a short walk outside to feel calmer. Also, don’t forget to get enough sleep. A good night’s sleep can help your brain work better. Lastly, believe in yourself. You’ve already done a lot of preparation, so you can make it! If you are still nervous, talk to your teachers or friends. They may give you some useful advice.
I hope you’ll feel better soon. Good luck with your exams!
Best wishes,
Li Hua
