除了在讀單詞時需要注意清輔音濁化,在讀短語或句子時,也有需要注意的發音規則。
連讀
在同一個意群中,前后相連的兩個單詞之間,前一個單詞末尾的輔音和后一個單詞詞首的元音有時可連起來讀,這種現象稱為連讀。連讀現象是在語言交際中,特別是隨著語速的加快而自然產生的,可用符號“ ”表示。常見的連讀情況有以下幾種:
(1)輔音+元音(兩相連)
當前一個詞的詞尾是輔音,后一個詞以元音開頭時,這兩個詞連讀。

(2)r / re + 元音(多個音)
當前一個詞的詞尾是r或re,后一個詞的詞首是元音時,這兩個詞可以連讀,中間增加一個/r/音。例如:

(3)輔音+輔音
①失去爆破:當前一個詞的詞尾是爆破音,后一個詞的詞首也是輔音時,這兩個詞可以連讀,第一個失去爆破。例如:help me
②相似輔音讀一次:前一個詞的詞尾和后一個詞的詞首是相似輔音,則只讀一次。例如:Yes, sir.
