1．形容詞的含義
形容詞是用來修飾名詞的詞，在句中作定語、表語、賓語補足語。
She is a beautiful girl．她是個漂亮的女孩。
The apple is big and round．這個蘋果又大又圓。
Have you got everything ready for the meeting 你為這次會議做好準備了嗎
2．形容詞的用法
(1) 形容詞+名詞
She is a good student．她是一個好學生。
It's a long way．這是一條很長的路。
I have a big nose．我有一個大鼻子。
(2)系動詞+形容詞
①狀態系動詞 (be動詞) + 形容詞
This bike is expensive．這輛自行車很貴。
I'm busy now．我現在很忙。
They are happy together．他們在一起很開心
②持續系動詞+形容詞
He always keeps silent at meeting．他開會時總保持沉默。
The shop stays open till eight o'clock．商店開到八點。
③表象系動詞+形容詞
He looks tired．他看起來很累。
He seems (to be) very sad．他看起來很傷心。
④感官系動詞+形容詞
The scarf feels very soft．這條圍巾手感很軟。
This flower smells nice．這朵花聞起來很香。
⑤變化系動詞+形容詞
The leaves turn green．葉子變綠了。
The egg becomes bigger．雞蛋變大了。
學習小貼士
在英語單詞中something，anything，nothing等不定代詞被形容詞修飾時，形容詞放在不定代詞后面。
I have something important to tell you．我有重要的事要告訴你。
Is there anything wrong with you 你有什么不對勁嗎
There is nothing dangerous here．這兒一點都不危險。
形容詞作定語一般放在被修飾的名詞之前。如果有兩個或兩個以上的形容詞修飾一個名詞時，則由它們和被修飾的名詞之間的密切程度而定，越密切的形容詞越靠近名詞。
在小學階段，我們可以記住一個口訣:
“大，形，新，色”即“大小>形狀>新舊>顏色"如果再要記得具體一些，則可以記住以下規律 (按順序)
a．描述特性的詞語beautiful,wonderful．．．
b．尺寸的詞語big，huge．．．
c．形狀的詞語 square,triangle．．．
d．描述年代的詞語old．．．
e．描述顏色的詞語red．．．
f．描述國家的詞語Chinese
g．描述材質 wooden，silk．．．
3．形容詞比較級
(1)一般句式的構成
A + is / are+ 形容詞比較級+ than + B
A 是主格B 是賓格
如：She is taller than me．
主格+ be + 形容詞比較級+ than + 賓格
(2) 形容詞比較級的構成
A +is / are+ 形容詞比較級+ than + B
A 是主格B 是賓格
如: She is taller than me．
主格+ be + 形容詞比較級+ than + 賓格
4．形容詞的比較級和最高級的變化規則
(1) 規則變化
規則 原級 比較級 最高級
一般情況下,+er /+ est great tall clever greater taller cleverer the greatest the tallest the cleverest
以不發音的e 結尾的單音節詞,+r / + st large nice wide larger nicer wider the largest the nicest the widest
以輔音字母加y結尾的雙音節詞，改 y為i，再 +er / + est heavy easy happy early heavier easier happier earlier the heaviest the easiest the happiest the earliest
以重讀閉音節結尾且詞尾只有一個輔音字母的詞，先雙寫最后一個輔音字母，再+er /+ est fat thin big well fatter thinner bigger wetter the fattest the thinnest the biggest the wettest
部分雙音節詞和多音節詞前，more + /most + beautiful exciting interesting more beautiful more exciting more interesting the most beautiful the most exciting the most interesting
(2)不規則變化

【注】形容詞最高級前一般要加the。
5．形容詞比較級的用法
(1) 在"．．．than．．．"句中:
He is taller than I (am)．(口語中常用: He is taller thanme． ) 他比我高。
He is two heads taller than I(am)．他比我高出兩個頭
(2) 在"which．．．, ．．．or．．． "句中, 表示兩者比較:
Which is bigger, the sun or the moon 太陽和月亮，哪一個更大
(3) 比較級+and+比較級:
It's getting darker and darker．天越來越黑了。
He is getting more and more interested in sports．他對體育越來越感興趣。
(4) The more．．．, the more．．．,
The more you eat,the more you want．你越吃越想要
(5) 形容詞比較級前可由much,far,a lot,still,no,alittle，even，any 修飾，表示超出的程度:
We have a much better life now．
我們現在的日子好得多了。
The buildings look far uglier in London than here．
倫敦的建筑比這兒的難看得多。
This story is even more interesting than that one．這個故事比那個更有趣。
I made a lot more mistakes than you (did)．我犯的錯誤比你多多了。
Your cake is a little larger than mine．你的蛋糕比我的大一點兒。
