In America,it is OK to approach a stranger and start up a conversation with him as long as the subject is not too abstract. In America,it is not considered inappropriate to talk to people you don’t know.Talking to a stranger about the weather or the quality of nearby restaurants,or the prices in a grocery store is all perfectly fine.Even complimenting(恭維) someone on the car they drive or asking them where they bought their clothes are all appropriate topics of conversation with complete strangers.
Generally,Americans prefer that people say what they think and they respect frankness. Usually when it comes to personal matters,it’s best to accentuate(強調)the positive:don’t tell someone that their children are ugly or that their cooking is terrible. However, it’s OK to tell someone that they are wrong as long as you do so politely and with respect.Americans generally believe that you show someone respect by telling them the truth.Don’t be afraid to be honest with Americans, but be appropriate.

The meaning of silence varies among cultural groups.Silences may be thoughtful,or they may be empty when a person has nothing to say.A silence in a conversation may also show stubbornness, unease,or worry.Silence may be viewed by some cultural groups as extremely uncomfortable;therefore attempts may be made to fill every gap(間隙) with conversation.Persons in other cultural groups value silence and view it as necessary for understanding a person’s needs.
Many native Americans value silence and feel it is a basic part of communicating among people, just as some traditional Chinese and Thai persons do.Therefore, when a person from one of these cultures is speaking and suddenly stops, what may be implied(暗示) is that the person wants the listener to consider what has been said before continuing. In these cultures, silence is a call for reflection.
Other cultures may use silence in other ways, particularly when dealing with conflicts among people or in relationships of people with different amounts of power. For example,Russian,French, and Spanish persons may use silence to show agreement between parties about the topic under discussion. However,Mexicans may use silence when instructions are given by a person in authority rather than be rude to that person by arguing with him or her.In still another use, persons in Asian cultures may view silence as a sign of respect, particularly to an elder or a person in authority.
Nurses and other care-givers need to be aware of the possible meanings of silence when they come across the personal anxiety their patients may be experiencing.Nurses should recognize their own personal and cultural construction of silence so that a patient’s silence is not interrupted too early or allowed to go on unnecessarily.A nurse who understands the healing(愈合) value of silence can use this understanding to assist in the care of patients from their own and from other cultures.

Meeting people from another culture can be difficult. From the beginning, people may send the wrong signal.Or they may pay no attention to signals from another person who is trying to develop a relationship.
Different cultures stress the importance of relationship building to a greater or lesser degree. For example, business in some countries is not possible until there is a relationship of trust.Even with people at work,it is necessary to spend a lot of time in “small talk”,usually over a glass of tea, before they do any job.In many European countries, like the UK or France, people find it easier to build up a lasting working relationship at restaurants or cafe rather than at the office.
Talk and silence may also be different in some cultures.I once made a speech in Thailand.I had expected my speech to be a success and start a lively discussion, instead there was an uncomfortable silence. The people present just stared at me and smiled. After getting to know their ways better,I realized that they thought I was talking too much.In my own culture,we express meaning mainly through words, but people there sometimes feel too many words are unnecessary.
Even within Northern Europe, cultural differences can cause serious problems.Certainly,English and German cultures share similar values, however,Germans prefer to get down to business more quickly. We think that they are rude.In fact, this is just because one culture starts discussions and makes decisions more quickly.
People from different parts of the world have different values, and sometimes these values are quite against each other. However,if we can understand them better,a multicultural environment will offer a wonderful chance for us to learn from each other.
23.What’s the probable meaning of the underlined word“stress”?
A.To draw special attention to.
B.To ignore.
C.To laugh at.
D.To get close to.
24.The author mentions his experience in Thailand to show that .

B.people from Thailand are quiet and shy by nature
C.even talk and silence can be culturally different
D.too many words are of no use
25.According to the text, how can people from different cultures understand each other better
A.By accepting different habits.
B.By recognizing different values.
C.By sharing different ways of life.
D.By speaking each other’s languages.

A.Cross-Cultural Differences

We’ve all been there: those times you need to argue your point of view to someone who you know disagrees with you.You immediately go to your keyboard and start to type out that 280-character tweet, the Facebook reply,or a paragraphs-long email.Surely the reason, logic, and strong power of your written words will convince whoever it is who disagrees with you to see your point of view. But new research suggests a different idea.
That research was conducted by Juliana Schroeder, assistant professor of University of California,Berkeley, and her colleagues. In Schroeder’s study of almost 300 people, participants were asked to watch, listen, and read arguments about subjects they agreed or disagreed with. They were asked to judge the character of the communicator and the quality of the argument.Schroeder’s team found that the participants who watched or listened to the communicator were less dismissive(抵觸的) of their claims than when they read that communicator’s same argument.
The idea for her study came from a newspaper article about a politician. One of us read a speech that was printed in a newspaper from a politician with whom he strongly disagreed. The next week,he heard the exact same speech playing on a radio station. He was shocked by how different his reaction was toward the politician when he read the speech compared to when he heard it.When he read the statement, the politician seemed idiotic, but when he heard it spoken, the politician actually sounded reasonable.
So in the workplace, speaking to someone in person often involves nothing more than walking a few doors down to their office. And that’s exactly what you should do if you need to convince that boss or colleague of why your blueprint for the company or project is the right one.
Only as a last way should you try to communicate with someone who you disagree with over social media.Twitter’s limited text allowance and social media users’ short attention make arguing your point an uphill battle.
27.What’s the result of the research
A.Written words are more logical and reasonable.
B.People prefer to communicate with keyboard.
C.When reading an argument, the participants were less dismissive than hearing it.
D.Oral,not written,communication works better.
28.Why is the politician mentioned in paragraph 3
A.To introduce the topic for discussion.
B.To summarize the previous paragraphs.
C.To explain why Schroeder conducted the research.
D.To introduce the politician’s speech.
29.What does the underlined word “idiotic”in paragraph 3 mean
A.Wise. B.Practical.
C.Silly. D.Special.
30.What can we infer from the last two paragraphs
A.To persuade your boss, you need to walk to his office and leave a message.
B.It’s difficult to fully explain your points due to social media’s limitation.
C.Arguing over social media is more convenient than speaking in person.
D.Communicating with others over social media is encouraged.

16.B;
17.A;
18.A
根據第一段“Americans love to talk and generally it is OK to talk even to strangers about nearly any subject at any time as long as you are polite. However there are some subjects, like racism,American foreign policy, gun ownership, and religion that are best discussed among friends.”(美國人喜歡交談,一般來說,只要你有禮貌,你可以隨時與陌生人談論幾乎任何話題。
根據第二段“Talking to a stranger about the weather or the quality of nearby restaurants,or the prices in a grocery store is all perfectly fine.Even complimenting(恭維) someone on the car they drive or asking them where they bought their clothes are all appropriate topics of conversation with complete strangers.”(與陌生人談論天氣、附近餐館的質量、雜貨店的價格都是非常好的。 根據第四段“Most Americans will start a conversation with a person they just met by asking them what they do for a living.”(大多數美國人在和剛認識的人交談時,會先問他們是干什么的)由此可知,所以第一次與美國人交談不要談“美國如何對待其他國家”。故選A項。
18.
根據第三段“However, it’s OK to tell someone that they are wrong as long as you do so politely and with respect.”(然而,告訴別人他們錯了是可以的,只要你禮貌地、尊重地這樣做。) 故選A項。
【答案】19.C20.A21.D22.B
故選A項。
根據文章最后一段最后一句“A nurse who understands the healing(愈合) value of silence can use this understanding to assist in the care of patients...”
【答案】23.A24.C25.B26.A
根據第二段第二句“For example, business in some countries is not possible until there is a relationship of trust.”
第三段第一句“Talk and silence may also be different in some cultures.”
根據文章最后一句“However,if we can understand them better,a multicultural environment will offer a wonderful chance for us to learn from each other.”
故選A項。
【答案】27.D28.C29.C30.B
根據畫線詞后的“but when he heard it spoken, the politician actually sounded reasonable”可知,當聽到這位政治家的評論時,他說得好像很有道理。

Good morning, everyone!
The emergence of driverless taxis represents a milestone in transportation, which could reshape the way we live. Personally, I advocate this technology for the following reasons.
Firstly, the driverless taxis are safer than manned driving. Human errors have been the leading cause of traffic accidents. In contrast, AI enables the car to react faster and more accurately to the changing traffic conditions. Secondly, autonomous vehicles are more efficient with lower cost. They can operate without the need for rest, which maximizes the use of a car. Last but not least, driverless taxis automatically monitor traffic and select the best route, which can reduce the time vehicles spent on the road and thus effectively reduce traffic congestion.
In conclusion, I see a great prospect for the growth of driverless taxis.
That’s all. Thank you.
Good morning, everyone!
The driverless taxi technology has been hailed by many as the next frontier in transportation. However, from my perspective, we should suspend the adoption of this technology for the following reasons.
Firstly, the driverless taxi is heavily dependent on technology. A single error in the computer system can lead to dangerous situations such as sudden stops or collisions. Another disadvantage is the potential loss of jobs. Many people make a living as professional drivers. With the widespread use of driverless cars, the drivers will have to face unemployment and economic hardships. Last but not least, it raises public concerns regarding privacy. Hackers might target driverless cars’ systems, which can cause the leak of personal information.
In conclusion, we should ban the use of driverless taxis for now.
That’s all. Thank you.

Before you make friends, you have to decide who you want to be your friends. Most people like to have friends who like to do the same kind of things they do.
The quickest way to make a friend is to smile. When you smile, people think you are friendly and easy to talk to. It may not be easy at first to smile, but remember most people will stay away from a scared or angry looking face.
One easy way to start a conversation with someone is to say something nice about him. Think about how great you feel when someone says something nice to you. Doesn’t it make you want to keep talking to that person
Ask your new friends questions about themselves. Who’s their favorite singer, where do they live, what do they do after school are all good questions to start a conversation. Make sure you have something to add to the conversation, too. When someone asks you a question, do have an answer for them. There’s nothing that will stop a conversation quicker than a shrug (聳肩) for an answer.
Kids who show an interest in other kids and who are kind and friendly make good friends. Remember, everyone wants to be around people who like to do similar things and people who are nice to them.

I met a beautiful soul yesterday. I went to work with my computer to a local cafe so that I could have dinner there. It was raining a bit this time and also I was among people. Sometimes when you work from home all day this is in itself a treat. And the magic of connection sometimes happens — a smile, someone offering you the newspaper, a short conversation with the staff, a peace dove flying past and lots of possibilities for love and kindness.
Well, magic did happen. I heard a man who was speaking with difficulty and very loud. I noticed he could not speak so clearly and he had some kind of impairment (損傷). As often happened, people looked at him-or avoided doing so-and then-as if embarrassed or afraid — looked down. In these cases I try to do the opposite. I imagined a person in these circumstances would want to feel included.
So I decided to deliberately look at him and smile. It was an instant! He looked at me, smiled and immediately said hello. With a combination of spoken and body language he asked if he could approach me. I agreed. He introduced me to his friend who taught sign language online and explained that they were both deaf, after which he even told me about his wife and how he loved teaching. I apologized for not knowing sign language and hoped I’d learnt. We still managed to have a beautiful conversation which made us all very happy. I’m sure we’ll meet again to experience the magic of being and being with others.;
23.Why did the author go to the cafe yesterday

C.To ask for a latest newspaper. D.To have a short talk with others.;
24.How did the author react to the man with speaking difficulty
A.He pretended not to see him. B.He had a joke with him.
C.He looked and smiled at him. D.He laughed at him like others.;

C.Avoiding the embarrassments in life. D.Having a friend in the same situation.;

What is language for Some people seem to think it’s for practising grammar rules and learning lists of words — the longer the lists , the better. That’s wrong. Language is for the exchange of ideas and information. It’s meaningless knowing all about a language if you can’t use it freely. Many students I have met know hundreds of grammar rules , but they can’t speak correctly or fluently. They are afraid of making mistakes. One shouldn’t be afraid of making mistakes when speaking a foreign language. Native speakers make mistakes and break rules , too. Bernard Shaw once wrote ,“ Foreigners often speak English too correctly.” But the mistakes that native speakers make are different from those that Chinese students make. They’re English mistakes in the English language. And if enough native speakers break a rule , it is no longer a rule. What used to be wrong becomes right. People not only make history , they make language. But a people can only make its own language. It can’t make another people’s language. So Chinese students of English should pay attention to grammar , but they shouldn’t overdo (做過頭) it. They should put communication first.

[江蘇蘇州大學附中2022高二月考]Facial expressions are the primary way people exhibit their emotions and read the feelings of others.Happiness, sadness, disgust, fear and surprise can be communicated through facial expressions alone. But when part of the face is masked, it becomes more difficult to recognise these cues.
If you can't read others' emotional state, your ability to empathise with them may be compromised.Likewise, if your mask is hiding your emotional state, others may not be able to empathise with you.Wearing a mask can also make you feel more distracted and self conscious, further weakening your connection to others.
Fortunately, you can regain some control over communication by working with what you have left—the eyes.If you want to get a better understanding of a masked individual, you should look him in the eye, which may be easier said than done.Eye contact generates self consciousness, consumes extra brain power and becomes uncomfortable after only three seconds. But bear in mind that eye contact can also make you appear more intelligent and trustworthy.
You might be surprised at how much information is conveyed by the body itself. For instance, when someone is happy, they stand up straighter; when they are sad, they drop their heads; when they are angry, their whole bodies tense up.Learning how people use their bodies to convey their emotions may help reduce the uncertainty you feel when communicating with someone wearing a mask.
Become aware of your own body language, too. When engaged in a conversation, you can appear more attentive by turning your body towards the individual, leaning forwards or nodding. To let another person know you want to start speaking, straighten your posture, or nod more frequently. Finally, remember that imitating the posture of another person can increase how much they like you and even make them agree with you.
By all means, continue the proper measures to keep yourself safe, but don't neglect your relationships as a consequence.Social distance doesn't have to mean socially distant.
24.What will happen if you wear a mask

Sharon, Aged 22
The most important thing to keep in mind when going into high school is to be yourself. Besides, I don’t know what your middle school was like, but high school teachers will not care about things such as how much homework you already have in one night. It’s best to just learn to deal with things and manage your time wisely so you can achieve everything you need.
Frank, Aged 21
I think almost every kid feels both nervous and excited before their first day. You will probably love it. I know I did. You should join in some sports or activities that will make your high school experience more enjoyable. Good luck!
Eddie, Aged 20
When I started high school I was really nervous too, especially since I had been home-schooled all through middle school and didn’t really know anyone, I suppose the best advice would be to just relax. The first couple of days can be a little bit hard, but things will become easier after you know it.
David, Aged 19
I’m not going to lie. The first day is kind of frightening. But you’ll get used to it. Don’t be afraid of anyone; upperclassmen will pick on you more if you let them know you’re afraid. Just take it easy. Making some friends and staying with them will greatly help you get used to high school quickly. After the first week it’s really not bad at all. Don’t worry.

Emerson, my 11-year-old daughter, is constantly contacting with the United States Postal Service (USPS)and our mail carrier, Doug. She las a serious letter-writing habit and maintains correspondence with her favorite people. If you've been the receiver of her hand-decorated letters and envelopes, then I know they really make your day.
A letter from Emerson is likely to include some art, a joke and enough questions to guarantee a response. But when she wrote a letter to Doug, she put something new in it: "You may know me as the person living here that writes lots of letters...You're very important to me, helping me stay in touch with friends. I cheer people up with my letters, but you do too!"
The next day, a package arrived with two letters. One was from Doug and the other from his superior, Sara, saying she had shared Emerson's note in the internal newsletter of the USPS and believed many postal folks wanted to thank Emerson. Emerson was so pleased with the letter that it upset me much, for the possible result of no reply would come as a blow to her.
Surprisingly, today, we saw Doug come with two boxes of letters from around the country. These letters were so human, filled with family, pets and a sense of kindness. But there was something more in them. People felt seen—some for the first time in a long time. "I work alone in a small rural post office..." "Not many people think about how hard we work…" Emerson wrote back seriously.
I'm sharing this not because I'm a proud dad, but because it's relatively easy, if we take the time, to give others links they need to be well. We all want to be seen, known and loved. Send a letter. Give a call. Take a step of bravery, like Emerson.

Teens who have good, supportive relationships with their teachers enjoy better health as adults, according to research published by an American research center.
“This research suggests that improving students’ relationships with teachers could have positive and long-lasting effects beyond just academic success,” said Jinho Kim, a professor at Korea University and author of the study. “It could also bring about health implications in the long run.” Previous research has suggested that teens’ social relationships might be linked to health outcomes in adulthood. However, it is not clear whether the link between teen relationships and lifetime health is causal (因果的) — it could be that other factors, such as different family backgrounds, might contribute to both relationship problems in adolescence and to poor health in adulthood. Also, most research has focused on teens’ relationships with their peers (同齡人), rather than on their relationships with teachers.
To explore those questions further, Kim analyzed data on nearly 20, 000 participants from the Add Health study, a national study in the U. S. that followed participants from seventh grade into early adulthood. The participant pool included more than 3, 400 pairs of siblings As teens, participants answered questions, like “How often have you had trouble getting along with other students and your teachers ” As adults, participants were asked about their physical and mental health.
Kim found that participants who had reported better relationships with both their peers and teachers in middle and high school also reported better physical and mental health in their mid-20s. However, when he controlled for family background by looking at pairs of siblings together, only the link between good teacher relationships and adult health remained significant.
The results suggest teacher relationships are more important than previously realized and that schools should invest in training teachers on how to build warm and supportive relationships with their students. “This is not something that most teachers receive much training in,” Kim said, “but it should be.”
23.What does the underlined word “implications” in Paragraph 2 refer to
A.Recipes. B.Habits. C.Risks. D.Benefits.
24.What is Paragraph 3 mainly about
A.Poor health in adolescence. B.Teens’ relationships with their peers.
C.Limitations of the previous research. D.Factors affecting health in adulthood.
25.What does Kim’s research show
A.Positive student-teacher relationship helps students’ adult health.
B.Good family background promises long-term adult health.
C.Healthy peer relationships leads to students’ academic success.
D.Good adult health depends on teens’ good teachers.
26.Where does this text probably come from
A.A medical report. B.A health magazine. C.A term paper. D.A family survey.
Contrary to popular belief, looking at someone’s face alone is not enough to tell us whether they are shouting in celebration or screaming in frustration, researchers claimed. While people may believe they have the ability to read each other’s faces, body language is the real clue that shows whether the strong emotions someone is feeling are positive or negative.
In one study, groups of participants were shown a series of facial expressions such as tennis players photographed just after winning or losing a point.
In some cases the volunteers were able to see the player’s full body, but in others they were only shown either their face or their body with the other removed.
Participants could clearly tell whether the players were winning or losing when shown the full picture or just the body, but their guesses were no better than chance when based on the face alone.
Those who were allowed to see the full image were convinced that they had made their judgment based on the players’ facial expressions even though results from the two other groups suggested otherwise.
The researchers carried out a second study where volunteers were shown a wider range of faces showing emotions including joy, pleasure, victory, pain and defeat.
Using photo editing software, the researchers attached the faces to bodies expressing the opposite emotions and asked participants to act out the emotions they saw in the photos.
The resulting poses(姿勢) were like the body poses in the photographs but not the facial expressions, which means that people base their understanding of strong emotions on the body instead of the face.
Dr Aviezer, who led the study, said,“These results show that when emotions become extremely intense, the difference between positive and negative facial expressions becomes unclear. The results may help researchers understand how the body interacts during emotional situations.”
27.Nowadays,what do most people tend to believe
A. Someone’s body language has an effect on his feeling.
B.Reading someone’s face alone cannot tell us his feeling.
C.Someone’s body language is the only clue to his feeling.
D.Someone’s feeling can be read by his facial expressions alone.
28.In the first study, how many kinds of photos were shown to participants
A.One. B.Two.
C.Three. D.Four.
29.What does the underlined phrase mean according to the passage
A.Not clear.
B.Always perfect.
C.Almost not correct.

A.Facial expressions can reflect the emotions clearly.

Around half the people we consider our friends don’t consider us theirs in return, as recent research indicates. As with the famous finding that almost everyone thinks they’re in the top 50% of safe drivers, we can’t all be the ones with the right sense of who really likes us.
And if we’re struggling through life with such a wrong understanding of our social circles, what about all the other received wisdom about friendship’s importance
It has been found that friends keep us physically healthy, alive for longer, less possibility of depression and more successful — but how much of that, especially when the research is based on self-reports, comes from those actually having friends, instead of those believing that they do
Perhaps it shouldn’t be surprising to learn that, when it comes to friendship, we’re in the control of an ego-boosting misconception (自我膨脹的錯誤想法): That’s true in many sides of life. People with healthy self-esteem (自尊) usually overestimate both their interpersonal skills and their control over events. Some psychologists find that slightly depressed people have an exacter grasp of their abilities than the non-depressed.
You needn’t react strongly to the thought that your “friends” might secretly not like you since this particular study focused on university students. It’s well-known that our social circles become smaller as we grow up, too often, especially in a friend-starved old age. But isn’t it possible that this decrease is better thought of as choosing the list of true friends, as we focus on those friendships that are actually rewarding, while we quit those who don’t treat us in the same way as we treat them
There are certainly reasons to worry about a loneliness crisis among the elderly, but having only a few friends may not be good sign for it. If I make it to my final years with only a handful of friendships, it’s not a sad state, because life has decreased them down to the ones that really count. I’d call it a better use of my remaining time.
23.Why does the author mention the famous finding in paragraph 1
A.To state that all drivers are good.
B.To illustrate we can’t assess friends properly.
C.To argue that we don’t understand social circles.
D.To stress the importance of friendship.
24.What does paragraph 3 mainly talk about
A.Friendship is of great significance for our life.
B.Friendship may not be so easy to develop as it appears.
C.Previous research findings about friendship maybe wrong.
D.Previous research on friendship is largely based on self-reports.
25.Who have the best understanding of their own abilities according to some psychologists
A.Those with high self-esteem.
B.Those with severe depression.
C.Those with slight depression.
D.Those with healthy self-esteem.
26.What’s the author’s opinion on friends of the seniors
A.It’s sad to have only a few friends.
B.It’s better to have a great many friends.
C.It’s necessary to quit unimportant friends.
D.It’s OK to have a handful of true friends.
In this modern age, most of us have forgotten to be patient and get angry very quickly over minor things like a traffic jam, a baby crying and such things. It often seems so easy to get what we want right away that when we have to wait even a little while, it seems like we are waiting for ages. We used to be happy to wait 10-15 minutes it took to reheat food in the oven (烤箱), but now we’re impatient when waiting two minutes it takes in the microwave.
With the convenience provided by modern society, is patience still a virtue (美德) in the fast-paced world To begin with, I’d like to share the meaning of the word “patience”. Generally it means being able to tolerate delay without getting impatient. However, it isn’t necessarily a passive activity. It takes an active commitment, knowing when to take action and when not to.
So I would argue that patience is still — and always — a virtue. Sure. I used to be one of those who often stared at the microwave for the full two minutes it took to heat my food. And in the end, the food tasted bad. If l had had the patience to heat the food properly in the oven, I would have enjoyed a delicious meal.
Actually the benefits of patience go beyond just heating up our food. Patience is an exercise in self-control which shows that we can handle life problems when things get tough, and that we can exercise good judgment. Lack of patience can cause us to make wrong decisions that negatively affect our health and happiness, waste our time, put us under a lot of stress and affect our relationships in a very negative way.
Everything in life happens for a reason. Sometimes we face an obstacle (障礙) because we need to grow in ways we didn’t realize. It’s not always obvious when that was happening, but with patience we will soon see clearly why it happened; and what we were meant to learn from it.
Taking time to think about our actions and being patient are a small price to pay when we determine the best possible solution to any problems.
27.The author uses the example of reheating food to show that .
A.people have no time to enjoy the meal B.high technology brings more benefits
C.more people lack patience now D.the fast-paced life makes people stressed
28.What could be inferred from Paragraph 4
A.People under stress tend to get angry.
B.Patient people are more likely to make better decisions.
C.People with self-control are easier to succeed.
D.Patient people are unlikely to make mistakes.
29.What does the author intend to tell us in Paragraph 5
A.A wise man learns from experience.
B.A brave man is not afraid of challenges.
C.A man should find out reasons for what happened.
D.A man should be patient to deal with difficulties.
30.What can be a suitable title for the text
A.The causes of impatience. B.Ways to exercise patience.
C.Is patience really a virtue D.What does “patience” mean

23.B
24.C
25.C
26.D
根據第一段中“As with the famous finding that almost everyone thinks they’re in the top 50% of safe drivers, we can’t all be the ones with the right sense of who really likes us.(正如一個著名的發現表明,幾乎每個人都認為自己是前50%的安全駕駛員,我們不可能都對誰真正喜歡我們有正確的認識)”可知,著名的有關安全駕駛員的自我判斷其實并不準確。
根據第三段“It has been found that friends keep us physically healthy, alive for longer, less possibility of depression and more successful — but how much of that, especially when the research is based on self-reports, comes from those actually having friends, instead of those believing that they do (研究發現,朋友能讓我們保持身體健康,活得更長,患抑郁癥的可能性更小,更成功——但其中有多少,尤其是當研究基于自我報告時,來自那些真正有朋友的人,而不是那些相信他們有朋友的人?)”
根據第四段中“Some psychologists find that slightly depressed people have an exacter grasp of their abilities than the non-depressed.(一些心理學家發現,輕度抑郁的人比非抑郁的人更準確地掌握自己的能力)”可知,有些心理學家認為輕度抑郁的人最了解自己的能力。故選C項。
根據最后一段中“If I make it to my final years with only a handful of friendships, it’s not a sad state, because life has decreased them down to the ones that really count. I’d call it a better use of my remaining time.(如果我能在只有幾次友誼的情況下度過最后幾年,這并不是一種悲傷的狀態,因為生活已經把它們減少到了真正重要的程度。我認為這是對我剩余時間的更好利用)”可知,作者認為老年階段僅有的很少的友誼實際上是真正重要的那些,有利于有效利用剩余的生命。由此推知,作者會建議老年人坦然接受只有幾個真正的朋友的事實。故選D項。
【知識點】人際交往、方法和策略、議論文
【答案】
27.C
28.B
29.D

28.推理判斷題。根據第四段的“Patience is an exercise in self-control which shows that we can exercise good judgment. Lack of patience can cause us to make wrong decisions(耐心是一種自我控制的鍛煉,表明我們可以行使良好的判斷力。缺乏耐心會導致我們做出錯誤的決定)”可推斷,有耐心的人往往會做出更好的決定。故選B;
29.推理判斷題。根據第五段“Sometimes we face an obstacle(障礙) because we need to grow in ways we didn't realize. It's not always obvious when that was happening, but with patience we will soon see clearly why it occurred and what we were meant to learn from it.(有時我們面臨一個障礙,因為我們需要以我們沒有意識到的方式成長。當這種情況發生時并不總是顯而易見的,但有了耐心,我們很快就會明白為什么會發生這種情況,以及我們應該從它中學到什么)”可推斷,一個人應該耐心地處理困難。故選D;
