People usually wear a ring if they get married. It's believed that this tradition is from old Egypt. In Egypt, a ring shows eternity(永恒). Eternity is time without an end. A ring also has no beginning and no end. It is like time. Egyptians also believe in the vein of love. This vein is in the fourth finger on the left hand. People wear a wedding ring on this finger.
Why handwriting is important
Some studies suggest that handwriting helps develop our brains, especially
for young children. Writing helps children connect letters with sounds, which is healthy for the brain. Besides, good handwriting can lead to better grades at school. Experts say that physically writing something down improves working memory, which is what typing on a keyboard cannot do.
Why we say“God bless you”
It's said that people thought that the soul left the body when someone sneezed
in the past. In the 6th century, a plague happened in Europe. The disease is very dangerous and Pope Gregory I ordered people to give blessings to someone who sneezed. In the 14th century, another plague happened, and a person who sneezed could be sick. People started to say“God bless you.”

Katrina and Mai walk home from school together every day. The two friends started doing so in third grade. For the past five years, it has been a routine for them. The half-an-hour walk is the happiest time for them each day.
Katrina especially looks forward to the walks because she doesn't have any children of her age at home to talk to. Instead, there is just her baby brother and her mother. Her father is very busy and usually away on business. When she gets home from school, she usually spends her time doing homework first and later reading a book or watching television. Sometimes her mother is too busy with her baby brother to even say hello to her.
Mai also looks forward to walking home with Katrina. The girl is so shy that she has few friends at school. Mai has an older brother and a younger sister. Her brother is busy with his schoolwork and is preparing for the college test. Mai's younger sister is only three years old. Her parents spend too much energy taking care of her brother and sister. As for Mai, her schoolwork and piano lessons sometimes keep her on the go. She doesn't have much time to play.

How does it feel when someone listens to you without interrupting(打斷) you This is called active listening and it's a great way to understand other people's feelings and build trust between friends.
Active listening means trying to understand how someone feels by listening carefully to what they' re saying and by paying attention to their body language. Annie, aged 11, explains what it means to her, “When my friends tell me something important,I listen to what they' re trying to say. I can tell by their voice and the look on their face if they' re upset or happy. This makes me feel like I understand them better.”
Listening closely to someone without interrupting or giving your own opinion shows that you' re interested in what they' re saying, even if you don't agree. This helps to avoid mistakes and arguments and can strengthen(加強) friendships. It's also a good way to improve your empathy(共情) skills because you' re learning to see the world through someone else's eyes. Samaritans is an organization that supports people by listening to their worries. It says, “Really listening to people makes them feel valued and understood, and being able to listen carefully to others helps you be someone who others feel they can turn to and trust.”
★ Listen carefully to what your friend is saying, and avoid jumping in with your own thoughts and feelings. If you really want to talk, make a listening sign like nodding your head instead. Ask questions or say things that need more than a yes or no answer, like“Tell me more”. Try looking for clues(線索)about how they' re feeling in their face and body too. “Active listening is a skill and it takes a lot of practice,”says Samaritans, “but don't give up, and remember you can only do your best.”
( )61. What does the underlined word“it” in Paragraph 2 refer to
A. Understanding. B. Paying attention. C. Active listening. D. Feeling supported.
( )62. What's Paragraph 3 mainly about
A. The steps of active listening. B. The standard of active listening.
C. The meaning of active listening. D. The advantages of active listening.
( )63. Which of the following can be put in ★
A. Who is an active listener B. How can you be an active listener
C. When should one be an active listener D. Why do you need to be an active listener
( )64. According to Samaritans, active listening .
A. takes a lot of practice B. helps you become an active person
C. is more important than asking questions D. makes your opinions accepted more easily
( )65. Which would be the best theme picture of the passage

閱讀下面短文,根據(jù)上下文或括號內單詞等提示,在空白處填入適當?shù)膯卧~或括號內單詞的適當形式。
Claudia and Cathy are good friends. They do a lot of things together, like going shopping, watching movies, looking after homeless dogs, or just 71 (sit) at a local cafe. Since they take the same school subjects, they would love to study together, but they find this 72 (possible). Their working styles are so completely different 73 they can't be in the same room while they are studying!
Claudia prefers to study in a 74 (total) silent room, but Cathy loves to play music or even have the TV on. Claudia can sit for hours 75 moving, and often gets all of her homework done in one sitting.Cathy, on the other hand, is continually getting up, and says that she thinks best when she's on the move.
You might be asking yourself, which way of studying gets 76 (good) results Many people argue that a silent setting is the way to go, but it seems that is not necessarily the case. Some research 77 (show) that outside noise often helps some people focus because it makes them form a mental(心理的)“wall” around 78 they are doing and improves their attention. So, if you' re a student who chooses 79 ( study) while sitting at a table in a busy shopping mall, don't worry about it. And if you work in total silence, that's OK too. Judging from Claudia's and Cathy's study 80 (habit), the best way to study is the way that works for you.
