When I was ten, my teacher told me I had to write a report about volcanoes (火山) and make a model (模型) volcano for the science class. And I had to show it to class on Friday. I didn’t start working on the project until (直到) Thursday evening. And I told my parents about it after dinner. At first, they were angry with me, and I felt really bad, but then they said they’d help me. We researched volcanoes online and went to a store just before it closed. The next day, I gave an amazing talk. All of my classmates said I had made a cool volcano, and the teacher took a picture of me with it.
I This taught me that I could wait until the last minute and still do an excellent job. But it was the wrong lesson to learn, and it took me the next ten years to realize it was wrong. Impossible Foods is a company in Silicon Valley, California. They make hamburgers and other delicious meat and dairy products (奶制品). There’s something very unusual about their food: Their meat and dairy don’t come from animals, but from plants. Yes, plants! I didn’t believe it at first, but it’s true. Thanks to Impossible Foods, you can eat a delicious hamburger that looks and tastes like meat but is made with only plants.
How does the Impossible Hamburger look and taste so real There is something called heme (亞鐵血紅素). It’s an ingredient (成分) that is in both plants and animals. Heme gives beef its red color. Impossible Foods uses the heme found in plants, not animals, to make the Impossible Hamburger. It’s healthy, and the plant ingredients don’t hurt the environment (環境). Clever, isn’t it
So, why does Impossible Foods make Impossible Hamburgers Well, animal farming uses about 50% of the Earth’s land and 25% of the Earth’s water. That’s a very expensive way to make food.
