Look at these sentences.
英語的動詞中，有的后面要接名詞或
代詞等作賓語，有的單獨作謂語，而
有的動詞要接作表語的形容詞或名詞
等。我們把后面接表語的動詞稱為系
動詞。最常用、也是同學們最熟悉的
系動詞就是be；除be以外，表感覺和
知覺的動詞也可以是系動詞。
系動詞的定義:
表感覺和知覺的動詞有：look, smell,
taste, sound, feel, 相當于漢語的“看上
去”、“聞起來”，“嘗起來”，“聽起
來”，“摸起來”。
注意: 這類系動詞與系動詞be不同，其
否定形式和疑問形式的構成要加助動詞
才行。如：
Does the party sound noisy?
聚會（聽起來）很吵嗎？
The dishes don’t smell very nice to me.
這些菜我聞著并不很香。
Does he look worried?
他看起來很焦慮嗎？
The cake doesn’t taste delicious.
蛋糕嘗起來并不好吃。

系動詞（連系動詞）：它本身有詞義，
但不能單獨作謂語，后面必須跟表語構
成系表結構，說明主語的狀態、性質、
特征等。

嘗起來 taste: taste delicious
摸起來 feel: feel soft
聞起來 smell: smell sweet
